Rove calls Palin move 'smart'

(CNN) - Karl Rove, also known as "the architect" of George W. Bush's presidential campaigns, is calling Sarah Palin's upcoming Iowa book stops "a smart thing to do."

"That's a pretty smart move if you're thinking about running for president," Rove said Friday on Fox News.

The former Alaska governor on Saturday will make the first of two stops in Iowa, the site of the first presidential primary contest, to promote her new book "America by Heart."

Rove, who served as Deputy Chief of Staff under former President Bush, said the new book "gives her an excuse to be there as something other than a candidate, which is really important."

Bush won the Iowa caucus in 2000 and 2004, and Rove said Hawkeye State residents are not likely to support a candidate based on campaign ads or celebrity.

"One of the keys for Iowa is they want to see you up close and personal," Rove said. "They may want to see you several times before they decide whether or not they'll support you in the caucuses."

But Rove also acknowledged that this is just the beginning of the long run for the White House.

"She's got a problem with independents and a problem with Democrats," Rove said. "Over the course of the next year, like all of the Republican candidates, she's got to demonstrate that she's got an ability to unify the Republicans and reach outside the Republican ranks."

Palin is currently on a 16-stop book tour that ends December 3 with a visit to South Carolina, another important state for potential candidates in 2012.

I doubt there is any hope for sarah palin now. She has saturated herself and her family in the media allowing us to see that they are short-tempered bullies. Remember how todd went after Joe Miller when he thought Joe wouldn’t endorse sarah for president? Give it a hope more weeks and I’ll betcha sarah won’t have ANY Independents favorable towards her.

What part of “hate begets hate” does sarah not understand? The palin family is their own worst enemy.

Curly Howard was known for saying "I try to think, but nothing happens!" Applies equally to Palin. Can't wait to hear responses to more mean-spirited, lame-stream media "gotcha" questions, like "what do you read?". She might run into some difficulty if her only media contact is softball interviews with Fox Noise. Doesn't mean she can't win.

  3. Dodge the Media..w/o questions..Sarah

Sarah has done little, by promoting a ghost-written memoir, by entwining herself and her family into what she decries as the "lamestream" media, by quitting as governor, by ducking real interviews, by muddling interviews she's actually taken…to convince educated Americans that she has the quality of judgment to be president.

I have little confidence that common sense Sarah Palin has the depth of intellect to understand the consequences of decisions that shape this nation's future. As a political detractor, she need not face the consequences of her insidious attacks on leaders in both the White House and the GOP. She struggles to transcend talking points, and when "blindsided" by questions or comments that go beyond her prepared statements, she offers little but attacks on the lame stream media. My question to her: "how do you think Obama feels about the media?" He is actually accountable for his statements and his decisions…and he gets roasted in the media on a daily basis.

Grow up Sarah, just because you took 7 years to get through community college and regularly butcher your native language does not mean that those of us who did work hard and succeed in school should be dragged down to your "common sense" level of mediocrity.

That you choose her to be your president is one thing but to burden the rest of the world with that is just plain scary. She will be the final nail in the coffin that once made the US the most powerfull in the world. They will eat her alive.

Palin may be popular. But so is our neighbor's dog and that doesn't qualify him for being President!

Do we really want someone who is angry and ignorant sitting at the table with foreign leaders speaking for us? I don't think so. Palin is such an embarrassment...

I don't think Pailin is dumb, but she also doesn't have the intelligence, background or temperment to be President. She's shrewd and knows how to promote herself and make a buck – but hey, so does her fellow reality star Kate Gossett, and I wouldn't voter for her either.

Rove's comment belies the fact that he now knows Palin is running in 2012. He's trying to set her up for failure. For the Democrats? It's like the first piece of food you drop in the fish tank. I love what Gov. Palin has done for the conservative movement, but she won't make it past the Primaries. She's the "Joe Biden" of the Republican Primary and may get picked up for a VP candidate again–but that's about it. Her name is just too divisive and the country isn't ready for another "folksy-from the gut" candidate like Pres. Bush. Before I die, I'm going to put three names of repubs that won't get elected against Pres. Obama and three names that can beat Pres. Obama in an envelope. I'm not Kreskin–but I've been picking Presidents since Jimmy Carter and I've never been wrong.

I guess Karl has forgotten about the McCain loss in 2008, which solely falls to Palin. While many voters did not want Obama in the White House, they were more afraid that if McCain died in office, the country would have Ms. Wink and Blink, which frankly scared most Americans to death. For the record, she still scares me.

It's not rocket science to have book stops in Iowa if you're thinking of running. Mr. Rove can take some of the responsibility of the dumbing down of the Republican party, and how bad that is for our country, so his own chickens have come to roost. Imagine having as head of the most powerful nation on earth, at a time of multiple global crises, a person whose primary qualification is good cheekbones–who couldn't name what she read for news, no matter what her excuse later, who lies without shame, badmouths everyone who crosses her, and who speaks like she's running for high school student council, including all those words like "crap, gotcha, and you betcha". It would not only be embarrassing, it would be seriously dangerous.

Soon to be released is a long over-due full-scale critical biography of sarah palin, written by award-winning journalist and investigative reporter, Geoffrey Dun, which will expose sarah for the con artist that she is. This book: “The Lies of Sarah Palin : The Untold Story Behind Her Relentless Quest for Power” is scheduled for release in April and is based upon over 100 interviews and thousands of revelatory documents. I am sure Mr. Dunn will include in the book many of these documents to back up his statements.

I CANNOT wait for the ensuing Foxnews and sarah palin panic when the book is released and receives the massive media attention deserving of the first critical biography of sarah palin, con artist extraordinaire. The book’s revelations will stun and tick-off some of the palinbots who will feel that they have been grossly mislead, bringing sarah’s poll numbers down even more. A book tour in Iowa can’t save sarah. In the primaries when she runs for president sarah will come in third, at best. (DWTS was sarah’s pre-election run. LOL).

I cant think of a politician that is constantly is news more than Palin. I would never vote for her but millions of people love her. However, millions of people have no idea of what's going on in the world, they vote for people because they are attractive or they like their personality. Their ability to provide leadership for a country of 300 million people is inconsequential.

Shelby: I think that at some point in the future (probably closer to the primaries in 2012), someone will release a video of Palin at full-throttle cussing out her husband and staff and acting like the egomaniacal, money-grubbing witch that she is. THAT is when people will finally start to believe that she's nothing more than a con artist bent on making money, without a care for anyone but herself.

Whenever I hear of Palin's latest exploits, all I can think is that, besides money, her prime motivation for all her travels and speaking (and collecting fees, of course) is to run from her responsibilities as a mother.

She returned to work within five days of having Trig; Palin obviously wasn't there for Bristol; the others are used as props as needed.

Think about it: If Palin really were someone of "family values," a "mama grizzlie," wouldn't she be home taking care of her special-needs child and ensuring a steady influence on her younger daughters so they don't end up pregnant, too?

As a Republican, the ONLY thing that would make me vote for Obama is if the Republican ticket offers Palin. Sorry, ideals or not, I can't do that. I regretted Bush and I already regret seeing Palin eyeing the whitehouse.

boom stick – Ron Paul is just one of many individuals (men and women) that, even being true to the core of their bones in their conservative principles, CAN and MAY do many things for the good of the country if/when elected for anything.
His son, and Palin, are from the group that divides.
