Rove calls Palin move 'smart'

(CNN) - Karl Rove, also known as "the architect" of George W. Bush's presidential campaigns, is calling Sarah Palin's upcoming Iowa book stops "a smart thing to do."

"That's a pretty smart move if you're thinking about running for president," Rove said Friday on Fox News.

The former Alaska governor on Saturday will make the first of two stops in Iowa, the site of the first presidential primary contest, to promote her new book "America by Heart."

Rove, who served as Deputy Chief of Staff under former President Bush, said the new book "gives her an excuse to be there as something other than a candidate, which is really important."

Bush won the Iowa caucus in 2000 and 2004, and Rove said Hawkeye State residents are not likely to support a candidate based on campaign ads or celebrity.

"One of the keys for Iowa is they want to see you up close and personal," Rove said. "They may want to see you several times before they decide whether or not they'll support you in the caucuses."

But Rove also acknowledged that this is just the beginning of the long run for the White House.

"She's got a problem with independents and a problem with Democrats," Rove said. "Over the course of the next year, like all of the Republican candidates, she's got to demonstrate that she's got an ability to unify the Republicans and reach outside the Republican ranks."

Palin is currently on a 16-stop book tour that ends December 3 with a visit to South Carolina, another important state for potential candidates in 2012.

Karl Rove must be dumber than a "pig with lipstick". First he blasts her for being stupid and NOW he claims she's smart. Which is it Karl? Republicans don't know what the HELL they want or think, all they know is they DON'T have a clue on how to fix anything or WORK at creating jobs or the economy. So all they do is spin, spin, spin a bunch of bumper sticker slogans thinking Voters are buying their load of POOP!!! What's that awful smell....oh, it just the Republicans dishing out more PILES OF POOP!!!

I love Karl....Palin doesn't have the "Gravitas" to be president...this from the man whose president had all the "Gravitas" to nickname him "Turdblossom"....And anyone who thinks Palin couldn't POSSIBLY become president...America elected George BUSH as president TWICE...or one and a half times anyway...palin is no dumber than dubya and much prettier...

So the woman who said on her tacky reality show "I'd rather be out here than in a dumpy political office – I'd rather be out here being free"... this is the woman who thinks she has a snowball's chance in hell of EVER being taken seriously as a political candidate for anything? I think this is all masquerade... I think you're going to see Mitt Romney come on like gang busters, and if worse comes to worst, he'll bring SP on as a running mate... what a total nightmare.

Sarah Palin is nothing but a hate-filled, miserable, jealous woman. She cannot stand the fact that she and McCain lost in 2008; so, as a spoiled child, she will pull out all the stops to get attention, any attention good or bad, and that is exactly what the media has given her. Ignore her. The only thing she keeps proving from being in the media is how mean and racist she is, and how she incites the same. She is a loser, a quitter, and will never be anything else.

Somehow the names Rove and Palin do NOT fit any sentence with the word "smart" in it.

john mccain is my hero for finding palin in alaska and the choice lost him the election as well. we have been hearing her name nonstop for 3 years and now we will hear her for anouther 2 years. she has a thing for" founding fathers" you know the ones who didn't let wemen vote or run for office. she has "core values" we just don't know what they are except if you don't agree with her you don't have any values i guess! real americans are those who follow her the rest of us must be from another country. i do know that she is the best thing that could have happened for democrats. she all by herself has gotten republicans to eat each other and she took out of office the blue dog democrats who voted like republicans most of the time anyway. the republicans have claimed they have won a massive vectory but they don't have the senate or a veto so it will turn into a massive defeat in two years because they will get blamed for doing nothing which will put independents into a hard left turn in two years. independents always change direction every two years no matter what it is only a question of how hard a left turn they make. i am one happy democrat thanks to dear ms. palin!

You know why the press and far left hate Palin so much? Because when McCain picked her to be the VP, her experience was brought into question. But she obviously had more relevant experience than the top of the Democratic ticket had. This drove the press crazy, so they do what they can to discredit her. The bottom line is that she still has more relevant experience than Obama has, and obvioulsy more brains.

Palin will have no problem with Iowa as she has personality and charm and unlike Obama doesnt need a teleprompter to talk to schoolkids. 🙂 She just needs to focus on organization as there will be a lot of competition for the nomination.

I seriously hope that Palin runs for president. Maybe then enough people will realize just how crazy, ignorant, hateful, divisive, and inappropriate the current Republican Party has become.

The Republicans must be really stupid to even think or support an idiot like Palin. She is a vicious, evil, an mean spirited person who cares only about herself. What a hypocrite she is but then that is the way of the repubs. They have the audacity to call themselves CHristians!! Sara stay in Alaska and don't come near my state. Hey and if you don't want reporters on your tail stay home and shut up. What kind of mom are you that goes around parading herself the way do. Grow up already, you quitter!

"...she's got to demonstrate that she's got an ability to unify the Republicans and reach outside the Republican ranks."

And therein lies the problem. Palin is incapable of "unifying" anyone. Her skill sets are strictly of a devisive nature.

Rove you are so senile to worry that Sarah could be a viable candidate. If you think she is, then it is about time to teach her about ABC of politics, math, science and world geography. Otherwise, your speculation will be completely wrong.

Rove to Bush: "I can make you president."

Rove to Palin: "Hmm. I dunno..."

That you choose her to be your president is one thing but to burden the rest of the world with that is just plain scary. She will be the final nail in the coffin that once made the US the most powerfull in the world. They will eat her alive.
A coffin once made the US the most powerful nation? Who knew!?!?

I now understand. I understand fully why Barbara Bush wants Palin to go back to Alaska and shut the heII up. Her son (G. Dubya) worked hard to procure the moniker of political idiot. Now Palin is giving him a run for his money.

I am so irritated that this woman is thinking about running for President. Her reality show, her husband with no education made a lot of decisions in Alaska, her parenting skills, she did not complete her Governor term, and I can go on. Our country would go down for sure. Please let this be a phase. Stop her!

Whether you like or dislike her, she is a joke to too many people to be elected president. The Republicans would be wise to choose someone else.

WOW, you all are really going to pissed when she takes the oath of office aren't you. It will be worth my lifes salary to see the look on some of your faces. it would be priceless to say the least. One of you even commented that most people don't have any idea of who they are voting for. Most of the American public are completely uninformes, you are so right, they proved exactly that in the 2008 presidential election. Of course your buddies in the media saw to it that we didn't know who it was that was on the ballot. Most true patriots would never have voted for the s-ocialist fool.
