McCain compares Palin to Reagan

(CNN) - Sen. John McCain helped catapult former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to the national stage and now he's equating her to former President Ronald Reagan.

He made the comparison Sunday when asked if Palin is "divisive."

"I think anybody that has the visibility that Sarah has is obviously going to have some divisiveness," McCain said on CNN's "State of the Union." "I remember that a guy named Ronald Reagan used to be viewed by some as divisive."

The former Republican presidential nominee called Palin "an incredible force in the American political arena" and said she's "keeping her options open."

"I think she's doing great job," McCain told CNN's Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley. "I think she's motivating our base. I think she had a positive impact on the last election and I'm proud of her."

How many times has McCain said he's proud of Palin? This guy single handedly inflicted this know-nothing demagogue on the country in a moment of appalling judgment. That will be his legacy.

The comparison is correct. They both forget their lines, they both apparently believe in astrology and they both will probably go to their graves after suffering a horrible disease. It's Darwin's Way.

Reagan was an actor that played at being President in his newest role. Someone was pulling strings. When did his Alzheimer's really set in? Palin is much dumber and stupider than practically anyone else - and someone is also pulling her strings and writing her stuff and telling her what to say (when it's written down in coherent sentences). As soon as she speaks off the cuff, it's verbal diarrhea, with no point at all. Sad, pathetic, and McCain foisted her onto us.

Evoking Reagan as some sort of saint... Check the facts. Palin is a total MORON.

Looks like McCain has found a new way to insult Reagan fans.

McCain needs to fade away. The last good thing he did for this country happened 50 years ago. Although it was a major scarifice on his part, it's old news and does not make up for his behavior the last few years. If he loves this country so much, whaqt was he thinking picking that hillbilly from AK.? He is nothing more than all the other politicians running this country. We need statesman, not more of the same.

"I think she had a positive impact on the last election"
Sen. McCain, how many bearings you still have? Have you lost all of them!!! What positive impact she brought while you didn't make it when you tapped her!

I want some of what John McCain is smoking.

If my last name was Reagan, I'd be pretty upset at McCain. John obviously doesn't remember that Reagan was a grand unifier and an includer, while Palin is a divider and an excluder ("no fatties, no gays, no poor, no liberals, no moderates, no members of the media, no dissenters, no bluebloods, etc.").

Hey TAM – I hope your "much dumber and stupider" was you being coy... otherwise I would advise "more dumb and more stupid" ... your potential for literary prowess is near limitless. Perhaps you should contact the Palin people and see if you can get a job. I am sure you would fit right in.

I think McCain has more in common with Reagan....when Reagan began to loose touch with reality.

Yes, I'm sure she could waste money, grow the debt, and increase the size of government while cutting programs that actually help americans who are not wealthy while giving as much money as possible to the wealthy claiming it will all someday somehow "trickle down", which it never did.. just like St. Reagan. I'm sure she could ignore AIDS for years because it was mostly affecting gays at the time... because of course, if you don't fit into the Republican base stereotype (white, straight, christian) you don't matter... just as well as St. Reagan did.

Alaska receives $12,000 per capital of our American tax payer dollars – stunningly higher than all their sister states. This is the Alaskan Tax Paradigm – should all states expect the same $12,000 per capita? Is this Fiscal Conservatism? Pulling ourselves up by our Dolce & Gabbana bootstraps? The Palin Gravy Train's stolen the plot from The Emperor's New Clothes. If her fan club is (I'll be kind and use the word) 'naïve' they deserve to stand publicly naked and be jeered.

McCain comparing The Dysfunctional One to Reagan? C'mon, Palin couldn't carry Reagan's jock strap! McCain legacy... The Dysfunctional One, Sarah Palin!

Reagan was the worst President of my 75 years ... I assume McCain is implying Palin would equal Reagan? Reagan was a no moderates, no dissenters, no poor, no gays, no liberals, no working class, no unions to protect workers. He was only for the rich and well connected just like McCain, so yes in that capacity Palin is like Reagan...and we sure don't need that. McCain needs to retire he has done enough damage already.

  18. What I REALLY like about Sarah Palin!!

Sarah has the ability to flush out all the Liberal idiots who can't help but wet their pants and go into hysterics every time her name is mentioned. They're a hoot! Fortunately, they're NOT the majority!

For a majority of us (who only occasionally bother to comment on idiot blogs such as this), Sarah Palin is the REAL thing - as was Ronald Reagan - TRUE Americans who believe in our country's exceptionalism and inherent goodness, rather than tear it down. These latter should spend just ONE day living in Cuba, North Korea, or Iran!

What else can he say.She was his running partner so he has to support her .Reagan was an actor who became a president until Alzeimers took his brain which happened pretty quickly. Palin doesn't even have a brain to take. She is all fluff and ego.

None of Reagan's worst foes in the Democratic Party would stoop to comparing him to Palin.

I would say that Palin's brain works exactly like Reagan's does at this moment. Neither is capable of anything. His is dead, and hers is in full "Reagan's brain" emulation mode.

On an ad for her new show, she states that she'd rather be out in the open in Alaska than in some political office! To me, that sounds like good advice that she needs to listen to!!! Stay in Alaska, Sarah! You can't compare with ANY of the presidents past or present! I mean, when you state that we are allies with NORTH Korea rather than South Korea, then you really need to keep your mouth shut! Or can you see the two Korea's from your back porch as well?
