Jeb weighs in on Mom and Sarah

(CNN) – As former President George W. Bush and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin compete for book sales, a slight war of words has flared up between the two sides. Barbara Bush said Palin should "stay in Alaska," with Palin responding that the Bushes are "blue-bloods."

Now Bush's brother is jumping into the mix: Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush says Palin has "incredible skill" but sides with his mother in the debate.

In an interview with right-of-center Newsmax, former Florida Governor Bush said Palin is skilled at turning media critiques into a positive for her. "She's managed to figure out how to deal with this almost irrational displeasure of her," said Bush. "She turns it into a huge political strength."

But in the wake of Palin's disagreement with Barbara Bush, "I've got to go with my mom, just in general, because she's my mother," said Bush. "I think it's way too early to be speculating about who's on first in the political process." (He also said he's a "big Mitt Romney fan.")

The former Governors have generally held each other in high regard publicly. During an October campaign rally speech in Florida, Palin praised "native son" Bush while also speaking positively about his brother. One reason for the camaraderie could be the fact that, despite former Pres. Bush's hope otherwise, Jeb confirmed in July he would not be running for President in 2012.

In the Newsmax interview, Jeb Bush had harsh words for soon-to-be former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who he said "abandoned" the Republican Party. Bush said Crist was "not welcome" to come back to the GOP, but did predict he would run again in some capacity.

The fact that Jeb Bush will not be running for President could prove to make him a valuable commodity as a media commentator in 2011 as the race heats up. It is a crowded GOP field of potential candidates (five of which work for Fox News), and finding what could be seen as an unbiased Republican voice will be hard to find. With his brother refusing to weigh in on the political scene, Jeb Bush's positive words, and eventual endorsement, will be a sought-after campaign booster.

I love the republican fighting and bickering over nothing. Why waste your breath on Silly Sarah. Barbara Bush got it right about her. Now leave it at that. If I hear another story about Stupid Sarah I'm going to beat a mosse upside the head with a billy club.

Better start speculating about who's on first, Jeb. Media darling Palin is already rounding second, and heading for third.

PLEASE just tell the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The PA'IN in the neck will NEVER be President – PERIOD!!! You agree with your MOTHER because she is telling the TRUTH!!! Women are NOT afraid of "telling the TRUTH" – especially when it comes to another WOMAN!!

@Lynda/Minnesota – YES, Palin is ROUNDING second and heading to THIRD but, she will NEVER MAKE IT HOME!!!!!!! NEVER!! As a matter of fact, the ONLY home she will be heading is AK and she is hardly welcomed there anymore!!!

Let's continue to Move America Forward with our current leader, President Obama!!!

  4. Nancy Pelosi, the wicked witch of the west, the DemocRAT gift that just keeps on giving

The fact is that there IS a ruling class elite in this country, both for the DemocRATS and Republicans. You need to look no further than the Bush's and Clinton's. They are scared stiff that average people with common sense will start getting elected. It seems that decades of being "lead" by multi-millionaire lawyers has left the country in a fiscal train wreck.

This is why they ALWAYS paint these people as "dangerous" and "unelectable". People are seeing through that BS now and we elected MANY non-lawyers on Nov. 2.

Don't listen to elitests on EITHER side of the aisle. There are many qualified, non-lawyers, non-millionaires that can lead and run this country. Can they do any worse than the elite that have driven us into financial ruin?

Dutch/Bad Newz, Sarah is still alive because of people like you commenting on every story about her. Here's an thought, if you don't want to hear about Sarah Palin, then don't click on the link to the story and better yet, don't comment on the story. If you want to know why Sarah Palin is still in the spotlight, just look in the mirror along with the rest of the liberal fools, and blame yourselves. I'm sure this isn't your first time commenting about her and I'll bet anything it won't be your last.

Barbara Bush has more "cojones" that most Republicans to speak her mind about Palin and she's right. However, I find it disturbing that Jeb Bush would say that Charlie Crist is no longer welcome in the Republican party when tea party activist have all but destroyed the Republican party and yet they embrace them. What kind of politics do Republicans practice, good Lord, no wonder they're becoming an endangered species.

AAAH - I can see the light at the end of the tunnell! I knew if Sarah was given enuf rope, she would hang herself - the noose is starting to tighten. First Barbara Bush comes out and says "stay in Alaska" and second, today another GOP mainstreamer (Scarbro) comes out and says she needs to wake up and smell the coffee. And what have we on the left side of the aisle been saying since 2008 - she's a hockey mom with a big mouth. And now Jeb is saying hey babe - I'm with my Mom over here. And Sarah is remarkably quiet today isn't she?

Jeb, you had your chance to stand tall and you blew it. And it's not because Sarah said something nasty about your mom and your family. You didn't have to "go with my mom…", you could have just said outright that Sarah Palin is not right for our party or our country.

No balls here, he is putting Crist down in the gutter but it is OK for Palin to throw Alaskans out the door for the lust of money. He sounds ashamed to stick up for his Mother and barely sides with Barbara, no cajones Jeb ?

I am no Political Genius (like Karl Rove, Keith Oberman, Chris Matthews, & Joe Scarbough.... JOKE) but I would say if the 2012 Republican canidate's last name is Bush......that Sarah Palin's chances of becoming President is significantly greater!
Me thinks that rather than Sarah Palin staying in Alaska......that the Bush's should stay in Houston, Texas.

Talk about abadoning, does he think that it was ok for Palin to abandon her post as Governor mid-way through her first term? Give me a break....And by the way I am warning you now, another Bush will not be tolerated. Jeb Bush as the Republican nominee EVER, would throw this country into another full on Civil War. Please refrain from the insanity of another Bush for President, however tempting it may be.

If Old White Bigots stop putting money in Sarah Palidashian’s garter belt…maybe she’ll finally shut her mouth – whether that is in Alaska, or Russia, or anywhere….
Sarah Palin looks like metaphoric drunk stripper….wailin’ nonsensical comments while flailin’ her arms all about on stage (that is the media stage who is making money of this dumb redneck)…while Old White Bigots put more dollar bills in her undies…
Her hard core supporter-patriots can’t even spell ‘passport’ much less have one.
