TRENDING: Palin must be stopped, says Scarborough

(CNN) – Joe Scarborough, the MSNBC host and former conservative congressman from Florida, says its time for members of his party to get off the sidelines and express their true feelings about Sarah Palin.

"Republicans have a problem. The most-talked-about figure in the GOP is a reality show star who cannot be elected," Scarborough writes in a column for Politico out Tuesday. "And yet the same leaders who fret that Sarah Palin could devastate their party in 2012 are too scared to say in public what they all complain about in private."

Scarborough, who recently returned to air after MSNBC suspended him for making a series of political contributions he did not disclose to the network, also took aim at the former Alaska governor for even considering a White House bid.

"What man or mouse with a fully functioning human brain and a résumé as thin as Palin's would flirt with a presidential run? It makes the political biography of Barack Obama look more like Winston Churchill's," writes Scarborough, later adding that Palin is pursuing a "dopey dream."

The comments come several days after Palin herself stoked speculation she is considering a run for president, with the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee saying in several media interviews that she is conferring with friends and families about the prospect and thinks she could beat President Obama.

But Scarborough writes that prospect is completely unfounded and faults Palin for comparing her resume, which now includes starring in a TLC reality show, to that of Ronald Reagan, the onetime Hollywood actor. Scarborough also isn't pleased Palin painted President George H.W. Bush and wife Barbara in a recent interview as out-of-touch "blue bloods."

"Perhaps her anger was understandable," a sarcastic Scarborough says. "After all, these disconnected "blue bloods" had nothing in their backgrounds that could ever make them understand "real America" like a former governor from Alaska who quit in the middle of her first term and then got rich.

"I suppose Palin's harsh dismissal of this great man is more understandable after one reads her biography and realizes that, like Bush, she accomplished a great deal in her early 20s. Who wouldn't agree that finishing third in the Miss Alaska beauty contest is every bit as treacherous as risking your life in military combat?" continued Scarborough, in reference to the elder Bush's tenure as combat pilot in World War II.

Palin has yet to respond to the comments.

This might be a good 1st step for the GOP. If enough of them come out and express their contempt for this moron and watch her lash back at them more of the GOP will see what kind of petty dolt she really is.

No charges filed due to lack of evidence but he resigned his position. Just like libs, give people like him a talk show, just like Spitzer, resigned as governor of NY for having 1000 dollar an hour hookers on state time and state money. hahahahahahha, and he wants to give advise, hahahaha

Wow, for once I agree with a conservative. I'm usually liberal but if conservatives would start putting value in intelligence again and have a real debate, then I might consider changing but not with what is being presented so far...

Hey, Joe Scarborugh, if you don't want Sarah Palin to be president, then don't vote for her WHEN she runs. The truth is that you do realize that she has a shot at winning the presidency because, if she didn't, you would not be wasting your time writing that silly article. George W. Bush was able to win the presidency, twice, and was he really that much more qualified than Sarah Palin? And, Sarah Palin is more well-known than George W. Bush was when he ran for president, Sarah Palin has a WAY bigger and more loyal following than George W. Bush had when he ran for president, and George W. Bush beat Al Gore and John Kerry who, at those times, were both more popular than Barack Obama is now. Plus, Sarah Palin has the benefit of Fox News. So, it seems to me that Sarah Palin has more going for her than George W. Bush did when he ran for president and, juat like he was able to win, she can win (especially is the unemployment rate is still at 9.6% in 2012). So, Mr. Scarborough, please stop your discouragment tactics. We Americans have the right to decide FOR OURSELVES AT THE BALLOT BOX who we want to be our president. Again, if you don't want her to be president, then don't vote for her.

As a Democrat, I hope Sara Palin runs, she would bring out the vote against her in record numbers, however for the sake of the country, I hope that moderate Republicans wake up and take control of their party and rid themselves of these nut jobs, just as the Democratic party needs to wake up and reign in the left wing fringe. The majority of people in the country, whether they consider themselves Republican or Democrat or Independent really have very similar values, hopes and desires and can not allow the idiots on the wings to run this country by our inaction.

Correct , Sarah Palin has a very thin resume and lacks the educational and intellectual ability to be a leader of a great nation .
She talks too much ,and whenever she opens her mouth , its all about NEGATIVES about people she does not like . She thinks she is the best . She is best for TV and reality shows but not for the white house . She has to go to HARVARD LAW SCHOOL and pass the bar before she thinks of going to the white house . She is a jounalist ,but what kind of a journalist is she , sports reporter ? A twon mayor of a small town in Alaska , a part time governor ? What a joke to be in the White House with a thin resume !

Looks like Scarborough grew a pair during his brief suspension. Can't wait to see what Palin (R-Twitter) has to say about these comments. Pretty sure it won't be, "Hey, can I call ya Joe?"

Not to mention that this person has a paper-thin resume and currently has no real job. She does nothing but criticize the current president, but has nothing to offer in response...just jabs and sarcasm. Cute, but not presedential. Try writing some policy or negotiate some legislation.

I've said it before and I'll say it again – she's NOT going to run. I'll be the first to eat my words if I'm wrong. Right now, I'm not hungry.

Thank you, Joe Scarborough. I used to be a Reagan and first Bush republican but abandoned the party when I saw it turning to the nutty fringe that it has embraced today. Goofballs like Beck, Limbaugh, Palin, Tea Partiers, etc. are killing what the republican party used to stand for. More people like you need to speak up and be counted.

As Republicans go, I like Joe Scarborough. He shows considerable backbone in a party desperately in search of a spine. The GOP was once a venerable institution. Now, it seems that it is just an institution where crazy people are put to vent their pathological paranoia as they "do battle" with a sitting President. When did it become solely about winning rather than about the right thing to do? It's sad. And, unfortunately, my party is not much better, but still the lesser of two scaries.

The question is: What took ANYONE so long to call the Half-Wit out?
Did it really take the 'besmircing' of the Bush name, and hte comparison to Reagan for the return of intelligence to the GOP?
Let's hope this is just the beginning of her well-deserved COMEUPPANCE.
