Gingrich issues call to replace left

(CNN) -Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich doesn't want to reject the left anymore, now he wants to replace it. Gingrich is set to speak at the American Legislative Exchange Council's annual conference Wednesday.

In prepared remarks released Wednesday morning, Gingrich notes that midterm elections are "only the beginning" and issues a challenge to "create a conservative majority large enough…to replace the increasingly leftist political system…" with the ultimate goal of turning the rejection of the left seen during the 2010 midterm elections into "replacement of the left."

Gingrich plans twelve steps to accomplish this feat. Among them, he takes aim at unemployment benefits and proposes that unemployment benefits be turned into a fund to require training programs for the unemployed, illustrates a plan replacing health care reforms enacted by the Obama administration through limiting Medicaid, and spells out the need to develop "benchmarks for helping businesses and entrepreneurs create high paying jobs in competition with China, India, and Germany…"

In his 12th and final step, Gingrich sounds a rallying cry to public schools from K-12 to the collegiate level. He will encourage them to insist on an annual course covering the Declaration of Independence, affirming that "The time has come to reassert that we are Americans, and America is a learned civilization."

The former speaker, who is often mentioned as a 2012 presidential hopeful, will announce five webinars on transformational change to take place in December and January during the speech, where he asserts that "The first great laboratory for replacing the left will not be in Washington. It will be in the states."

The character of this man has been put on display and it is not pretty. I can't believe that there are people who still listen to him. Replace him with a monkey and you will come out ahead.

Good luck Newt! Don't count on 2012. I think with the usual Republican shinnanigans starting to re-appear ("just say No!", tax cuts for the waelthy, disrespect for the President, etc.) most Americans will re-evaluate just how viable the GOP is in regards to leadership. Hint: they aren't.

  6. Nancy Pelosi, the wicked witch of the west, the DemocRAT gift that just keeps on giving

Well, Obozo, Reid and Pelosi are surely helping all they can in this respect! The sad truth is that the DemocRAT party has been hijacked by radical leftists, aka "Progressives". Many of these people are now in the government and doing whatever they can to damage and destroy the USA. I hope we survive until 2012 when we can throw these people out.

Sorry Newt these ideas are not "right." Job training is a democratic idea, building more projects would be yours. Education a "right" idea please. High paying jobs is now a 'right" idea... wait, wait, I have to stop laughing.

You guys on the right are constantly trying to reinvent yourself, but for people like me that pay attention, I know better.

Guess what else, you dont get to define the left. The left, unlike the BS you try to sell is not about everyone sitting home on the welfare doing nothing. Far from it, the left is about something you will never understand... fairness.

I beg to differ, Newtie. A civilization, yes? Learned? November 2010 proved otherwise. Oh, and by the way, there is NO leftist political organization, but keep barking up that tree. It continues to add to your political coffers, yes?

    "replacement of the left.."

Is this man insane? All of what he is suggesting is ONLY for the RIGHT? The LEFT don't think like the RIGHT in some aspects therefore, we need to be WIPED OUT???

"...midterm elections are "only the beginning" and issues a challenge to "create a conservative majority large enough…to replace the increasingly leftist political system…"

Keep believing that the 2010 Election was ALL about YOU!!! Keep believing that, along with those that got elected in 2010!! It's NOT about YOU and the RICH – it's about the middle class who NO LONGER exist!!!

President Obama is way ahead of ginGRINCH as far as Education – it's always been his outcry. The American people do not want health care repealed – funds for the unemployed in the way of "training" still means they will have no money in their pockets to buy FOOD – Yes, training is GOOD but NOT the ONLY solution. The RIGHT truly believes that ONLY the left collects unemployment $$. Give me a BREAK!!!

The ginGRINCH who is trying to STEAL an ELECTION has gone MAD!!!! President Obama, our current leader, will continue to Move America Forward that will also include the RIGHT!!!!

Newt Gingrich's plan to create a Republican majority for decades failed before, and it will fail again. Why? Because any successful political system requires balance and debate. Republicans represent only the wealthy. That will become increasingly evident to Americans over the next couple of years. Unfortunately for Republicans, the growing poor and shrinking middle classes vote. As they watch the wealthy get wealthier, and the poor and middle classes get poorer, the Republican party will witness first hand what class warfare looks like...

"Increasing leftist political system"? After the better part of the last decade being dominated by conservatives?

Understandable, I guess. An intelligent man who nevertheless says that waterboarding isn't torture isn't a man who can be counted on to be sincere.

"The time has come to reassert that we are Americans, and America is a learned civilization."

Then why do you instst on such a grossly ignorant concept of "replacing" those who do not agree with you? It sounds as if you want to take away the freedom of the American people to think the way that they want and replace it with your politics. Newt, apparently you are the one who needs a course on the Declaration of Independence. The words that come out of you mouth are an insult to every fredom loving America and are a transparent ploy by you to sell more of your worthless books to your narrow minded fringe right wingers.

Ratehr than suggest ridiculous platforms, perhaps Newt would like to explain how that "Contract With America" worked out?

Or, he was going to run Bill Clinton out of office. How'd that work out?

Or, better yet, how does he get off being a dead-beat dad?

Newt, you beginning to get the picture here, sport? Nobody's asking for your input, suggestions or ideas.

He's a darm fool if he ever thinks that will happen. Conservative ideas is what got us into this mess in the first place. This just goes to show you that these Fascists Republicans just want power and don't give a darn about the middle class and the poor. FASCISTS!!!

So wait... a course focusing on the Declaration of Independence? What about the Constitution, which is what the nation is truly built on? Also, does his emphasis on the Declaration of Independence mean he advocates actually teaching students about Thomas Jefferson as opposed to the Texas School Board's decision to exclude him from their curriculum?

Is he serious? Job Training? What jobs is he talking about? All of his CEO buddies accept the tax breaks, ships job overseas and then take additional tax breaks for shipping the jobs overseas. Newt, there are no jobs left, thanks to your buddies. Now help America, or move out of the country you slime ball!!

In other news, Gingrich believes that he can will the tides to stop coming on shore. The result of cultural, technological, scientific and medical progress will always move society to the left. Those who are unable to learn and grow will always cling to the right as it is simple and unchanging. There is a reason religious groups often pick a particular era to live in.

  19. Former Republican, now an Independent

Gingrich and the people who control the current day republican party would like to replace anybody that does not agree with their political agenda. If they had their way, all news channels would be taken off of the air except for Fox, which delivers their views, not news. The current republicans remind me of the German Nazi Party on the rise in the 1930's and their ability to deceive a large portion of the citizens.

This guy needs to make up for his draft dodging an earlier war-I think about 3 or 4 tours (or however many are completed) in Afghanistan locating and defusing IED's would do him and me a world of good.

Sorry, that sounds dumb. Problems will not be solved by attacking only one front. Things the "right" support such as excessive dense spending, tax cuts for the upper brackets and so on have to be dealt with.

Gee, who am I being replaced by? Will I be asked to leave the country? Or will my vote simply no longer count? Considering that liberals still make up a substantial percentage of the population, Gingrich is talking about 'disenfranchising' an awful lot of voters. Maybe, because we disagree with him, we're just second class citizens. Or is it a case of, "we're free to believe whatever we want as long as it agrees with Newt." This guy's 15 seconds are over. Show him the door.

Blah, blah, blah... This arrogant idiot won't be elected dog-catcher. I love the quote "America is a learned civilization." If that's the case, why is it that most on the right can barely spell their own names without cue cards?

How delusional is he? The left used to be the right. The health care bill was designed by Bob Dole in the 90s. Cap and Trade was proposed by George Bush Sr. Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan had higher taxes than are currently in place. "the increasingly leftist political system" is actually pretty right-wing.
