Palin ratings rebound

(CNN) – Sarah Palin appears to have staying power when it comes bagging Caribou and grilling salmon on her reality television show.

While critics of the former Alaska governor were quick to point out that ratings for the former GOP vice presidential nominee's "Sarah Palin's Alaska" fell by more than half in its second installment one week ago, the most recent iteration rebounded by 17 percent, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

That means 3.5 million viewers - an enviable audience for any basic cable show, much less a potential 2012 candidate - tuned in to TLC to watch the former Alaska governor's somewhat controversial show that has some Republicans like Karl Rove and Joe Scarborough grumbling that one of the party's likely White House frontrunners is looking clearly unpresidential.

Whoo! A 17% rebound after dropping by more than 50%. That still amounts to more than 40% of the first time audience not coming back for round 3.

Please, people, when yet another Sarah Palin "story" is posted here, don't respond to Palin. Tell CNN what you think of their constant barrage of this self-absorbed greedy nitwit. The problem with Palin is not really Palin but the sensationalistic yellow journalism that keeps throwing her in front of us.

CNN: There is real news in the world far more important than this. STOP PIMPING SARAH PALIN ! I refuse to buy from any advertiser that uses CNN.

Americans like real people who live real lives. Arrogance is becoming very annoying.

Why is this here, CNN? This isn't news, it's entertainment - and bad entertainment at that. What is your morbid infatuation with Palin, CNN? Hopeful that she'll grant you an interview? Just can't get enough real news to fill your website? The GOP is willng to starve the poor and unemployed to feed the rich and Wall Street. Where's the Ticker post for that, CNN?

CNN, can you please stop posting news stories about Sarah Palin every 5 minutes. Some of us are sick of seeing her damn name everywhere. Thanks.

You can get Americans to watch the grass grow if you package it right. This woman has her group of zombie no lifers who will always be with her as long as wrestling or roller derby isn't on. This explains how the nation's number one "baby mama" was able to survive on DWTS so long.

Who hates to be entertained or to watch the circus? She is also on that category.

Dear CNN: Enough with the daily Sarah Palin updates. Please? It's even worse than the annual August Bret Favre Retirement Soap Opera. And it makes about as much of a meaningful intellectual contribution to the national political discourse. I realize that the former-but-I-resigned-after-half-a-term-to-get-rich-governor is hot copy, but don't you think that devoting the amount of space that you do to the activities of her and her family smacks more than a little of pandering for readers? You even have a special headline section for her on one page. For example, how significant (or interesting) is Bristol's perfomance on a reality show? Palin has been very cunning in blurring the lines between politics and entertainment, to the detriment of both, in order to keep herself in the headlines. But frequently, the 'news' is trivial and belongs on the entertainment page, as shown by this article, which has zero political or social import. By focusing so intently on her activities, no matter how trivial, you are merely enabling and abetting her plans to stay in the limelight. And it's not very interesting, either. A week-long Palin moratorium would be very welcome.

The media just can't leave Palin alone, can they?

One show with lower ratings, doesn't mean much, except a bad air time.

This is not about Alaska, it is self-promotion by Palin. She can't participate in anything of substance when it comes to serious issues, so she goes fishing and points out scenery.

She draws curiousity, that equates with being a viable presidential candidate?
She'll never run in the primary, she will have accomplished what she set out to do.....grab as much money as she can while the gettin' is good.

It means Dancing With the Stars is over for the season & people were looking for something else to occupy their minds (God forbid they pick up a book & read). It also means a lot of people watch just to laught & make fun of her (I kow that's the only reason my kids watched– I could hear them laughing & making sarcastic comments all the way upstairs). I finally made them turn it off & clean.

and who gives a hyenas crap about this news.....if people just happen to click on the wrong channel and tlc showed up, then you are party to be included on the ratings, even if you did not want to watch it, so,think about it, before you are anywhere near that channel, SKIP IT.

to cnn: no more entertainment on the ticker, slowly, you are becoming irrelevant.

When will all this rubbish about sara running for our PRESIDENT stop? I have lost a lot of faith in the American people over the last 10 years or so but i still have enough faith left to KNOW that we will not elect sara to run this country. Just the thought of it makes me shiver!

It makes her look unpresidential?! How about it makes her look human. If it means that we won't have the yahoo that acts "presidential" with his spending ways, then I want something unpresidential.

For the love of all that is good – please stop watching Sarah Palin. She truly scares me. For people who think she's a viable candidate, remember the following:

    1) She QUIT. She walked out as Governor of Alaska
    2) She got North and South Korea confused.. doesn't matter if she was tired or not
    3) She couldn't handle an interview with Katie Couric

(I know, I am traitor! I confess.!) But I did sneak a peak. They were packing up for a road trip...3 girls and grandchild in tow. But her own little toddler was being dropped at the grandparents. Not sure if he was invited or if he is the only smart one who refused to go along for the craziness and exploitation of her family!

Why is this political news? The only source you cite is the Hollywood Reporter. It's absolutely ridiculous that the top item on CNN's Political Ticker is about reality show ratings. You should be ashamed to call yourself a serious news organization, you're just entertainment fluff.
