Boehner rips House Democrats tax vote as 'chicken crap'

Washington (CNN) - House GOP Leader John Boehner ripped House Democrats for moving ahead with a vote Thursday just on extending tax cuts for those making $250,000 or less, calling the move "chicken crap."

"I'm trying to catch my breath so I don't refer to this maneuver going on today as chicken crap, all right? But this is nonsense, all right?" Boehner told reporters Thursday.

Boehner argued that Democrats were ignoring the message from voters last month who shifted control of the House of Representatives to Republicans.

"The election was one month ago. There are 23 months from the next election and the political games have already started to try to set up the next election. We had an honest conversation at the White House about the challenges that we face to get out of here and to take care of what the American people expect of us and to roll this vote out today, it really is just, it's what you think I was going to say anyway," Boehner said.

The GOP Leader would not give any details on the negotiations between White House officials and Congressional leaders about how to deal with the Bush-era tax cuts that are expiring at the end of the year, but maintained that Congress' main priority now should be on stopping any tax increases for any Americans.

When asked whether Republicans would support extending unemployment benefits as part of a compromise to extend all tax cuts for some period of time, Boehner simply answered, "we'll see."

It amazes me how the GOP fooled sooooo many poor and out of work white people to vote them back in power. You are the ones who have no job and no unemployment compensation and no health care and possibly no home. But you vote Republican good ole boy, vote to cut your nose off and spite your face. Well face spited, nose gone and your buddies voting to keep you right where you are and their buddies will get richer and richer, while you have no improvement in your life. Just wait a while and they will repeal the equal pay for women, women's choice of their own body, healthcare for you and your children and all education for the future. They want you and your children to get dumber and dumber so you will continue to vote REPUBLICAN..

The economic illiteracy of Democrats is breathtaking. The U.S. economy is still on life support from the Federal Reserve. The threat of exogenous shocks from places like Europe and Korea is very real. And then you have a chorus of idiots who want to take money away from the productive elements of the economy in the form of taxes and give it to the government.

Many business owners and investors are in a state of paralysis because they will not make an in investment decision until they know with some certainty what the tax ramifications are going to be. They are also dealing with the unknown cost of complying with ObamaCare. It is a wonder that businesses are doing any hiring with all of these uncertainties.

This comment from the party that just announced yesterday it's not going to play ball unless it's by their rules only! I've seen 5 year olds getting along better! Boys, 2012 is just around the corner.. those who voted you in can vote you out just as quickly! How about an ultimatum from the voters.. either you ALL play nice in the sandbox OR you ALL go home!

All of you who love to separate Americans into classes and treat them differently: please tell me why the wealthy should pay more of a percentage of their income than anyone else? Why should the poorest pay less a percentage of their income? All Americans stand on the same ground and pledge the same allegiance.

When a person that brings in $1,000,000 / year pays a 10% tax they pay out $100,000. When a person that makes $30,000 per year pays a 10% tax they pay $3,000. The wealthy person already pays substantially more when all Americans pay the same rate. They already pay for more of the countries expenses that others. But because they can, our government should demand more from them. I see no Constitutional basis to treat one citizen different than the next.

Amazing, so if the wealthy create jobs, how come they aren't doing it now with the current tax rates!
Jobs are created when I want something and have the money to buy it.

The Republicans are all scumbags. Thanks to everyone who voted these thieves and liars into office. If you support the republiscum policies, you are either ignorant of the truth or one of the bad guys. This isn't an opinion, this is fact. The Tea Party basically re-elected everyone who created the problems they were mad about in the first place. LOL BAAHHH BAAAHHHH go the sheep.

Let all the tax cuts expire, we can't afford them. Nice to see the Orange man getting hot under the collar with the rich fat cats jerking his chain. Now we see who the GOP really cares about. Not the deficit, not the 2 wars but tax cuts for the fat cats on Wall Street who ship the money overseas. Somebody ought to wear chicken suits to all his public events until 2012...

To FourandtheDoor: Those tax cuts for the rich created how many jobs over 8 years?? 1.1 million. Want to guess how many jobs were created while Clinton was President, with HIGHER taxes? Over 22 million. Your argument is invalid.

How is giving more money to wealthy people going to create jobs? It won't they will invest it (with millionaire bankers) and make more money.. nothing wrong with that but please don't pretend allowing rich people to pay less in taxes is going to help any other group of people... wake up America and smell the slime

Too bad it has taken until they got voted into the minority for Democrats to grow a spine and challenge the Republicans. Anyway Johnny boy, you guys take over next month, not this month. Lets see what you come up with other than a knee jerk reaction of saying no to anything Obama proposes, even if the idea was originally a GOP one.

"But House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., said the House vote wouldn't undermine bipartisan negotiations on the tax cuts, "nor is it intended to embarrass or to put Republicans in a difficult place."

James said "They should be overjoyed that the tax cuts will be extended for the middle class rather than having a hissy fit because rich people will have to pay their fair share."

James do you relize that the top 35% of the income taxes collected in this country come from the top 1% of earners? I would think they are already paying their fair share.

This is not for businesses who take in $250,000 or more a year, the tax increase affects individual taxpayers who claim $250,000 or more a year in income. Most of them who have dependents don't pay as much anyway. Saying this will affect jobs and small businesses is disingenuous hogwash. The GOP should be ashamed for continuing to line the pockets of those who aren't feeling this recession anywhere near as badly as their middle class neighbors are.

The $250,000 threshold for families is a marriage penalty, especially if the individual threshold is $200,000. It needs to be $400,000 for families to be fair, or lower the individual thresholds. Doesn't anyone else see this?

Someone needs to start a website where they list the contact info for all these pro GOP commenters. With a handful of those names you could be set for life financially. Talk about gullible suckers ! They already fell for the GOPs con. The GOP is saying "we're going to take out a $700Bilion loan and give the principal to the top 2% of the population and then have you, the stupid American public, make the payments "- and you GOP defenders in the 98% of the population who are getting shafted are actually happy to do it ! There's a Lamborghini that I've always had my eye on – some of you pro GOP fools should get a loan and buy it for me. It costs a lot less than $700Billion and you can say you just gave me a well desrved "tax cut". Hint – if the Govt spends more that it takes in and then "cuts taxes", it's called a loan and guess who is on the hook to pay it back ?

Its nice to see that the true colors of the "New Rupublican Leadership" are showing through, and its not even January yet. The GOP does not have a prayer of beating Obama in 2012.

How did republicans get the idea that giving more money to the wealthy balances the budget and creates jobs!? If this economic policy worked we wouldn't be in the mess we're in!!!

Trickle down economics doesn't work!!!!! Never has, never will.

And you're delusional if you think we'll be able to balance the budget by simply reducing so-called entitlement expenditures.

The Republicans never raise taxes, they just borrow money in hoards and then blame the Democrats for the deficits.
