Senator Lugar has the common sense that so many in the Republican Party seem to lack these days. The Republicans tend to follow the leadership without question and seem far more worried about their political futures than they are the average American citizen. Senator Lugar shows that he can and will disagree with his Republican counterparts. He has been in the Senate for 34 years and feels comfortable that he can speak his mind. I may not agree with him on each and every issue but I can certainly respect his autonomy.
