Washington (CNN) - Two Democratic congressional aides tell CNN that House Democratic leaders are going to the White House to meet with Vice President Joe Biden at 2 p.m.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Steny Hoyer, Rep. James Clyburn, Rep. Xavier Becerra, Rep. Chris Van Hollen, and Rep. John Larson are among those who will meet with Biden to discuss how to move forward on tax cuts.
Maybe the tough old veteran can whip them into shape and get them all working from the same playbook. A little late, though. Still, maybe they can get something done in the lame-duck session.
Can they find a way to get rid of Obama before he destroys what's left of the Democratic Party?
They're going to talk to Biden?? BIDEN??????? What's Biden going to do – make them an offer they can't understand? Biden gives stupid a bad name. What's Biden going to do besides screw something else up?
I'll give him one thing. I thought no one could be more a more inept gaffe bag than Qualye. I was wrong.
Republicans(Hard-Ballers) VS Democrats(Soft-Ballers).
The soft-ballets, are always there to destruct and to waste the times of hard-ballers.
Made no waste time, wipe-out the softies from the White House and future votes.
He can tell them all about the "summer of prosperity," reassure them that the unemployment rate will not rise above 8% if they pass the stimulus bill, tell them how Health Care Reform is not a tax, even though that is how it is defended in court, tell them why the labor unions spent billions to get Health Care Reform passed and now are using the mysterious "opt out" provisions not to participate. He can tell them how little it takes for Obama and his family to take their numerous vacations. He can tell them that they still can ignore, demean and degrade the American people and taxpayers and call them names like "neanderthal," "astroturf, "enemies" and nothing will happen. Most of all he can tell them to remember they are democrat liberals and experts in lying, cheating and corruption and they should just carry on as they always have.
The Democrats need to TAKE NOTES!!! The RepubliCAN'Ts are SILENT, except for the ones on top (Boehner, McConnell, CAN"Tor, etc.) They STICK TOGETHER even though they may not agree!! They either ALL get flushed down the toilet if they fail – or they ALL succeed if they win!!!
The Democrats are WIMPS – they SCATTER when the going gets tough and then JUMP SHIP in order to save their OWN HIDE!!! The Democrats, including President Obama, need to STICK TOGETHER!!! The American people DID NOT vote in November, 2010 on TAX CUTS!!!!! This is what the RepubliCAN'Ts want you to believe and they got it all twisted.
If President Obama ONLY passes the Tax Cuts for those making $250,000 or under, he will SUCCEED in 2012 and ALL of the RepubliCAN'Ts will go down the toilet!!! The RepubliCAN'Ts want you to think differently – they want you to belive the OPPOSITE and they know DAMN WELL it's a "Wing and a Prayer".... BUT, what they got that SEEMS forceful and "together" is their UNITY, even though they are HEAD STRONG and DEAD WRONG!!!!
President Obama – DO NOT GIVE IN – You have a VETO pen so make it WORK!!! Reverse this CRAP and hold the RepubliCAN'Ts "hostage" on saying NO all the time – Blame the Unemployment issue on THEM – Come on NOW!!!! In order to continue to Move America Forward is to have a STRONG BACKBONE!!!
Hey CNN!! Please get a clue will you? These are not tax CUTS! They are voting to STOP TAX INCREASES ON EVERYBODY. But the DemocRATS never met a tax increase they didn't like. If you idiots think the economy is damn good then let us ALL start paying more on Jan. 1st. Of course "all" only means the 50% of us that do pay income taxes. The rest (aka DemocRAT voters) get a free ride at our expense.
Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke tells 60 Mimuts it will be years before "normal" levels of unemployment returns. So where does this leave the increasing numbers of 99ers? Are they to be simply ignored because in some body's elitist view they have dropped off the radar screen; that their suffering somehow doesn't count anymore?
In addition to reauthorizing UI benefits, nobody will blame Obama for kicking it up a notch by securing Republican support for a new "must work" program for those 99ers who have exhausted their unemployment benefits. This program would allow each state to design and run their own small, local, close-to-home work projects, using 99ers taken from their local unemployment lists. This program, too, would be designed to run until unemployment levels reach 7.5%.
Of course, the real objection Republicans have over the expiring Bush tax cuts isn't about the money, nor is it over the deficit, or the economy. The real issue that is frightening wealthy Republicans is over the decoupling of the middle class from the moneyed class. Once the Bush tax cuts are extended for just the middle class, the political divide between the haves and the have nots will be a fait accompli, there for all to see. Once this happens it will be just a matter of time, say by 2012, before we the poor realize just how badly we have been raped, and are continually being raped, by we the moneyed class, all in the name of we the Republic. And that my fine Republican friends, and, as it turns out, quite a few of my Democratic friends and their corporate paymasters, cannot be allowed to happen at any cost.
But I suspect, however; Republicans don't yet fully understand just how high a price they may have to pay to achieve their political goal. If Obama turns out to be a real player....which he has shown signs of being, i.e., the $20 billion BP oil spill set aside... it may cost the Republican leadership a brand, new stimulus package, dedicated to the middle class, the unemployed, the 99ers and the poor. That is, the Republicans, in their insistence that the wealthy Chapter-S participants be included in the Bush tax cut extension, has given Obama the necessary political predicate to mount another stimulus package, even if it does balloon the deficit, as long as it is temporary in nature and terminates when employment level reaches 7.5%.
The only question now left before us, the most pitiable victims of the callousness of Wall Street, the blatant greed of too-big-to-fail bankers, and the pompous incompetence of Congress itself, is whether or not Obama can deliver. The price of Obama's compromise may well define his presidency thus far and may even determine his re-election prospects for 2012.
