Cantor criticizes Obama's hostage analogy

Washington (CNN)–House Republican Whip Eric Cantor sharply criticized President Obama's analogy at his press conference Tuesday that compared negotiating with Republicans on tax cuts to talking with "hostage takers."

Obama said, "I have said before that the middle class tax cuts were being held hostage to the high end tax cuts. I think it is tempting not to negotiate with hostage takers unless the hostage gets harmed."

"What the American people are looking for are results," said Cantor. "They want to see an economy that returns to a growth mode and they want to see more jobs for more Americans, so I don't think those kinds of comments were helpful."

House Speaker-Elect Boehner declined to comment on the President's analogy, telling CNN, "I didn't hear it."

What did Cantor want President to say? Did he want to hear a lie? President Obama is exactly right and the three stoogies should be aware that what goes around comes around.

I never NEVER EVER want to hear Republicans complain about the deficit EVER again. They got a tax break for millionaires that will expand the deficit. They should sit in the corner and be quiet. They no longer have any right to call themselves fiscally responsible. The only ones they are responsible to is the wealthy. Hey, why are Bachman, Palin, and the rest so quiet? They must also favor increasing the deficit.

Our economy has always had its ups and downs. But our politicians are more corrupted than ever. Politicians are one notch below child molesters and Bush Crime Family is two notches below politicians.

WTF, Cantor whines about getting what he wanted, heaven help us when these foosl get the majority in January.

Rich GOP couldn't get a pay raise so they made sure that their taxes didn't go up......How many jobs did the rich Congressmen create with their tax cut? How about other rich tax payers like Limbaugh, Beck, Palin, Hanity??? How many jobs did they or will they create with their tax cut???......NOT MANY.....

"This could actually be considered the first stimulus, since the earlier one was nothing but a corrupt payback to all of the corrupt organizations and individuals that stole the 2008 election for Obozo."

HAHA...you don't really even know what was in the first Stimulus, do you? HAHAHA. Here's a hint: it was largely just tax cuts. Here's another hint: LImbaugh and Beck aren't at all concerned with whether you are getting an accurate understanding of the goings-on in this nation from their shows....they poop in golden toilets, you don't.

At least he didn't call you Klansmen without the sheets.
    Or Whores to America's millionaires.
    Or The Domestic Taliban.
    Or Nazis.
Or spoiled, potty-mouthed, greedy, sycophantic societal leeches, incapable of doing a day's work to earn their checks but highly motivated to put the same brain-dead Americans that re-elected them into office into a premature and broke-a$$ grave.

You should call and thank the President Cantora, for his kind words

Shut-up Eric. You got EVERYTHING while giving up nothing except for unemployment insurance which is the bare minimum.
Shame on the GOP. Hostage is a perfect analogy.

They gripe when they don't get what they want and they gripe when they do. What the hell can we do to get these idiots out of office? I don't blame the President. We were being held hostage. I praise him for taking a shot from his own party to tend to the needs of the people in need.

Ok – now I expect to see the jobs come flowing down from the rich. Yeah, like that is going to happen. . .

Here is my new mantra: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!" Anyone with me????

Cantor, what part of Mitch the turtle face, McConnell's we won't do anything until the rich get their tax cuts back didn't you understand? It sort of sounds like we will release your child when you pay the ransom doesn't it? You took the damn country hostage to pad you and your rich buddies pockets at the expense of the rest of us. You Loser!!!

It's amazing how the Republicans hold everything hostage unless there is a well defined plan to pay for it, unless of course it comes to tax benefits that can be enjoyed by only the wealthiest Americans. To delay unemployment benefits for those who are unemployed due to no fault of their own is sickening. So much for the true patriots of the Republican party.

Snide Smurf has spoken! Tax cuts for the middle-class were not hostages...it was just a temporary internment until we could figure out what to do with them!

Obozo is being held hostage by his own clueless, arrogant, hate filled class warfare ideology that is the underpinning of his socialist character. This thin skinned clown is a pretty pathetic President. I think they are going to reposess the Noble Peace prize that he never earned!

Who is this obozo you speak of. Sounds like a mythical creature made so your point seems valid. Well back to topic I do hope the jobs start flowing like unemployment down to 5% or else the "grand old party" may have to retire from politics.

Too bad Eric. He called it like we Americans see it. As you yourself have said, the GOP isn't going to let anything get done until you get to take care of your rich friends by extending their tax cuts at the expense of the rest of us and the country at large. You care little for anyone but yourself and your self-absorbed friends in Wall Street, the Banks and the Insurance companies. And I think you're going to pay a big political price because now your greed is out in the open.

    Sniffit,
All the Liberals in his base will get from now on is name calling and tough talk, get used to it. President Obama has no chance od getting re-elected in 2012 if he doesn't move hard to the center. That means he will throw the ultra Liberals under the bus to get what he really wants. In the mean time by REALLY working with and compromising with the Republicans, he will enjoy a much better economy than would be the case if the election wasn't such a LANDSLIDE against the Dems and it will ultimately be better for the country.
