Washington (CNN) – Sarah Palin is telling one of the world's most controversial figures: don't put words in my mouth.
On Tuesday, Palin tweeted: "Someone making things up again? Keep seeing this quote attributed to me. Huh?"
The former Alaska governor included a link to National Review Online posting.
That post is partly titled, "Julian Assange Notices Sarah Palin's Criticism." Assange is the editor-in-chief of Wikileaks. He's earned international scorn for recently posting over 250,000 U.S. State Department documents. On Tuesday, he handed himself over to police officials in London on unrelated sex charges and was denied bail after appearing in court.
But the National Review is referring to Assange's fresh op-ed, that currently appears in the newspaper The Australian, and that is what prompted Palin's tweet.
In the op-ed, Assange defends the publication of the secret documents. But he also writes, "Sarah Palin says I should be 'hunted down like Osama bin Laden."
It's that quote, being attributed to Palin, that apparently has her up in arms.
In a November 29 Facebook posting, Palin blasted the Obama administration's handling of the matter. And she also wrote, "Assange is not a 'journalist,' any more than the 'editor' of al Qaeda's new English-language magazine Inspire is a 'journalist.' He is an anti-American operative with blood on his hands. His past posting of classified documents revealed the identity of more than 100 Afghan sources to the Taliban. Why was he not pursued with the same urgency we pursue al Qaeda and Taliban leaders?"
Though Palin clearly calls for pursuing Assange like al Qaeda leaders are being pursued, she did not exactly write that he should be "hunted down like Osama bin Laden."
As for the other part of Palin's tweet, "Keep seeing this quote," CNN checked to see if it's been reported other places and could not find any other citations of it.

She's just jealous that he's getting more attention for making things up than she does when she makes them up.
Hmmm....If Palin is against this man, I think this man may be telling the truth. Palin is foul, or fowl...whichever one you deem acceptable. As far as "someone making things up again?".....Palin is the queen of making things up, or distorting the facts, spewing hatred, etc. I suppose Palin sees herself as a journalist....lol...lol...too funny. Once again, Palin is trying to bring down our President....she, in my opinion, should be tried for treason, or at the very least be tried for inciting hatred in America.
Got to think Palin's probably right about this. If anyone should be an expert on making things up, it's Palin.
Sarah Palin calling someone out on fictitious quotes?!?! HA! She gained her fame that way, why cant someone else?? She did stay in character however, and lie about how many places she read the quote. (Either that or she keeps reading the quote in the same place and doesn't realize it.....)
Ridiculous. She is virtually saying the same thing, but she is just 'parsing' the whole issue to make herself look better. Our country is toast if she ever gets near the presidency.

Sooo surprised that she's full of it on this, because gosh, she's just so honest everywhere else!

Seems every time someone says anything bad about Sarah, she calls them un-american? He just paraphrased what she said. It is VERY American to use your First Amendment Rights. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen, Sarah!
