Sarah Palin says Wikileaks founder making things up

Washington (CNN) – Sarah Palin is telling one of the world's most controversial figures: don't put words in my mouth.

On Tuesday, Palin tweeted: "Someone making things up again? Keep seeing this quote attributed to me. Huh?"

The former Alaska governor included a link to National Review Online posting.

That post is partly titled, "Julian Assange Notices Sarah Palin's Criticism." Assange is the editor-in-chief of Wikileaks. He's earned international scorn for recently posting over 250,000 U.S. State Department documents. On Tuesday, he handed himself over to police officials in London on unrelated sex charges and was denied bail after appearing in court.

But the National Review is referring to Assange's fresh op-ed, that currently appears in the newspaper The Australian, and that is what prompted Palin's tweet.

In the op-ed, Assange defends the publication of the secret documents. But he also writes, "Sarah Palin says I should be 'hunted down like Osama bin Laden."

It's that quote, being attributed to Palin, that apparently has her up in arms.

In a November 29 Facebook posting, Palin blasted the Obama administration's handling of the matter. And she also wrote, "Assange is not a 'journalist,' any more than the 'editor' of al Qaeda's new English-language magazine Inspire is a 'journalist.' He is an anti-American operative with blood on his hands. His past posting of classified documents revealed the identity of more than 100 Afghan sources to the Taliban. Why was he not pursued with the same urgency we pursue al Qaeda and Taliban leaders?"

Though Palin clearly calls for pursuing Assange like al Qaeda leaders are being pursued, she did not exactly write that he should be "hunted down like Osama bin Laden."

As for the other part of Palin's tweet, "Keep seeing this quote," CNN checked to see if it's been reported other places and could not find any other citations of it.

Splitting hairs to drum up another "poor little me" non-controversy.

You got to admire her consistency.

Palin, making things up......couldn't be true could it. We can all sit down and pray because finding Assange is a message from God, and put him in front of a death panel so grandma can pull the plug on him which plug? All of them!

If you want to find a leader who inspires, fine! At least pick one because they know what they are talking about! I've served proudly under the last 2 presidents, I can't imagine how hard it would be to lead troops under her.

Elizabeth Edwards, a very classy lady, has just died. Out of respect that another will have the majority of the headlines, wouldn't it be wise for Ms. Palin to just keep a very low profile for a few days. Let the nation mourn without Palin's constant verbal intercourse.

Sarah Palin complaining about someone making stuff up is rather, shall we say, like the pot calling the kettle black. Especially since, in this case, it seems she is complaining about a slight misquotation rather than a wholesale fabrication. A wholesale fabrication, like, oh, most things Sarah Palin says.

Sarah Palin does nothing better than sticking her nose in affairs that have nothing to do with her. She's basically an instigator- she has something to say about everything and everyone, and then when they respond, she goes on the attack. Here's another American wishing she'd go back to Alaska where she came from and keep waving over the Strait at Russia.

First of all, he IS being pursued with the same urgency we pursue al Qaeda and Taliban leaders (not very well).
Second, as the current queen of misrepresentation, shouldn't you be applauding his resourcefulness?

The sad truth of the matter is – if it comes down to between Assange and Palin – I'll take Assange.

Sarah Palin is SERIOUSLY splitting hairs here.

But why should I be suprised. This is her modus operandi: to get belligerent whenever she is attacked, even if it means she sounds like an idiot.

This woman is the worst public "servant" in America.

OH HUSH UP PALIN! THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE FINISHED WITH YOUR REMARKS. You open your mouth then freak out when someone notices it and comments on it. If you are that idiotic to say something in the first place that you KNOW will land you in deep, then shut up. You're as bad as the Twilight "bella" chick. Come on, use common sense. Go away!!!!
