Washington (CNN) – Sarah Palin is telling one of the world's most controversial figures: don't put words in my mouth.
On Tuesday, Palin tweeted: "Someone making things up again? Keep seeing this quote attributed to me. Huh?"
The former Alaska governor included a link to National Review Online posting.
That post is partly titled, "Julian Assange Notices Sarah Palin's Criticism." Assange is the editor-in-chief of Wikileaks. He's earned international scorn for recently posting over 250,000 U.S. State Department documents. On Tuesday, he handed himself over to police officials in London on unrelated sex charges and was denied bail after appearing in court.
But the National Review is referring to Assange's fresh op-ed, that currently appears in the newspaper The Australian, and that is what prompted Palin's tweet.
In the op-ed, Assange defends the publication of the secret documents. But he also writes, "Sarah Palin says I should be 'hunted down like Osama bin Laden."
It's that quote, being attributed to Palin, that apparently has her up in arms.
In a November 29 Facebook posting, Palin blasted the Obama administration's handling of the matter. And she also wrote, "Assange is not a 'journalist,' any more than the 'editor' of al Qaeda's new English-language magazine Inspire is a 'journalist.' He is an anti-American operative with blood on his hands. His past posting of classified documents revealed the identity of more than 100 Afghan sources to the Taliban. Why was he not pursued with the same urgency we pursue al Qaeda and Taliban leaders?"
Though Palin clearly calls for pursuing Assange like al Qaeda leaders are being pursued, she did not exactly write that he should be "hunted down like Osama bin Laden."
As for the other part of Palin's tweet, "Keep seeing this quote," CNN checked to see if it's been reported other places and could not find any other citations of it.

CNN: I know this is the Ticker. I know it's not necessarily the important stories. But, really... enough with the linkbait. If someone cares about Palin's tweets, then they can read them – on Twitter. Stop this. Please. Report actual news, not catty gossip to generate ad impressions.
"pursue with same urgency that we pursue al-Queda and Taliban leaders" and "hunted down like Osama bin Laden." Now, how much difference is there in those two statements? I say, none. Would we be inaccurate to say that we are trying to "hunt down Osama bin Laden"? Does that mean anything different than "pursue with urgency"? No, they mean the same thing. So what tAssange did was paraphrase Ms. Palin's comment. Is that not completely legit and appropriate, especially if you don't remember the exact words to quote? What is Ms. Palin's gripe? She doesn't have one! And CNN should stop trying to nuance it iwith "she did not exactly write..." just to placate her. Call it like it is and insist she stand by her expressed sentiment–there wasn't anything wrong with it in the first place–for once. Mr. Assange, as dispicable as he is, was not incorrect with his statement that Ms. Palin said we should hunt him down... PEOPLE NEED TO STOP PLAYING WORD GAMES!!!
If Assange is not a journalist, then Sarah Palin is not a former governor.

While she may not have used those exact words, that was the exact meaning. Leaders of alQaeda. That's Osama bin Laden. "Go after" is "hunt down." She's arguing semantics here and it's pointless because she did say just that.

Sarah Palin can't stop herself from telling lies. When she was first introduced to the American public, in her speech she looked right into the camera and said (referring to the money for the Bridge to Nowhere) "I told them thanks, but no thanks." She lied then and hasn't stopped since.
CNN you just got to stop w/ the Sarah stuff. Her 15 min of fame should have been up 2 years ago. Kinda like the Geraldine Ferraro thing faded fast. But Sarah is right on one point the media is lame. 95% of the stuff posted on CNN's "Ticker" is stuff about Republicans, and the headlines make it sound so negative. Whats the deal? Can we get a little "keeping them honest" in the ticker section. Democrats say and do crazy stuff all the time. And what is wrong with what Palin said? I don't like her but she hasn't said anything radical about the wikileaks situation. He should be hunted down and put on trail. But seriously, check the history of the ticker and see for yourself. Next time somebody says CNN is more balanced than FOX, just take a long hard look.

It is time for CNN to report on issues that are most important to people in this country and probably in other countries as well. This article is just one of many that CNN has posted over the last months which do not constitute news. Everythig Sarah Palin has to say is not newsworthy. She does not answer questions in pubic forums but puts her opinions out through Twitter and Facebook. That is exactly where the info should stay.
With so many important stories and so much at stake throughout the world, it is time that CNN reports on stories which make headlines throughout the world. Americans need to be informed about what is happening around the world.
"Don't retreat...reload." She suggests violence against other Americans as a means to solve disagreements. Maybe she should reload her brain instead of her gun. She'd get a lot further with more respect.
