Sarah Palin says Wikileaks founder making things up

Washington (CNN) – Sarah Palin is telling one of the world's most controversial figures: don't put words in my mouth.

On Tuesday, Palin tweeted: "Someone making things up again? Keep seeing this quote attributed to me. Huh?"

The former Alaska governor included a link to National Review Online posting.

That post is partly titled, "Julian Assange Notices Sarah Palin's Criticism." Assange is the editor-in-chief of Wikileaks. He's earned international scorn for recently posting over 250,000 U.S. State Department documents. On Tuesday, he handed himself over to police officials in London on unrelated sex charges and was denied bail after appearing in court.

But the National Review is referring to Assange's fresh op-ed, that currently appears in the newspaper The Australian, and that is what prompted Palin's tweet.

In the op-ed, Assange defends the publication of the secret documents. But he also writes, "Sarah Palin says I should be 'hunted down like Osama bin Laden."

It's that quote, being attributed to Palin, that apparently has her up in arms.

In a November 29 Facebook posting, Palin blasted the Obama administration's handling of the matter. And she also wrote, "Assange is not a 'journalist,' any more than the 'editor' of al Qaeda's new English-language magazine Inspire is a 'journalist.' He is an anti-American operative with blood on his hands. His past posting of classified documents revealed the identity of more than 100 Afghan sources to the Taliban. Why was he not pursued with the same urgency we pursue al Qaeda and Taliban leaders?"

Though Palin clearly calls for pursuing Assange like al Qaeda leaders are being pursued, she did not exactly write that he should be "hunted down like Osama bin Laden."

As for the other part of Palin's tweet, "Keep seeing this quote," CNN checked to see if it's been reported other places and could not find any other citations of it.

As much I don't like Wikileaks, anyone who ticks off Sarah Palin is alright in my book.

    RE: "He's earned international scorn..."

He's also earned international praise, including by about 75% of people in the world with at least a Bachelor's degree.

Too bad Palin has not read any of the "leaked" files. Getting smarter would be a risk to her image.

Come on, CNN! You are a NEWS agency. You're supposed to report NEWS. Sarah Palin is not NEWS.

Sarah Palin wants Assange hunted down like Bin Laden, so I guess that means Assange will be safe at least another ten years.

    Someone making things up again?

The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's "death panel" so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their "level of productivity in society," whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

Funny, how Sarah's so quick to scream if in the slightest she thinks anyone's making stuff up.

Except for making stuff up, what does she do?

When will Sarah take contemporaneous questions? Climb out of her bunker? Or, better yet, go home?

i honestly fail to understand the obsession the media has about covering every word that comes out of Ms Pelin's mouth or her PC! Is there no noteworthy news left in this world anymore?

And this comes from the person who came up with the 'death panel' claim.... Sarah, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Lastly, one should not comment on things where one has zero experience – but that has never stopped her before.

Why bother checking her facts. Even if she's wrong, she's right. Such an idiot...he interpreted her meaning quite well. And then that other fine Christian Republican POTUS wannabe, Huckabee, called for him to be killed too. These people sure deserve our support and admiration. They are are shysters pulling the wool over the eyes of the right....wake up, people. They want to tell us exactly what to do and what to believe....they are not interested in being Christian any more than they are interested in working with all Americans toward success.

Assange aggravates Palin. Funny that she has kept very quite about the tax issue. I guess she gets to pick and choose what gets her upset.

To have Palin's obvious and greatly demonstrated ignorance and one-dimensional world view and still be in the world of politics proves that people don't care about politics or the issues, since they are willing to listen to someone like that and take what they have to say into consideration. How can someone so idiotic and short-sighted be taken seriously, by anyone? Why does the media continue reporting on her, giving her more clout? We used to have great leaders, and great men who drafted great governing documents, and now we have her? How far do we have to lower our standards as a nation where we keep putting the spot light on someone who is so ignorant?

If Sarah Palin can compare Wikileaks to groups that actually do kill people, then Julian Assange can fudge a quote a little bit.

And was that the press putting meaning to your words when you spoke of the 'Real America"?

Seems like you enjoy having it both ways.
