CNN - The U.S. Senate found Federal Judge G. Thomas Porteous Jr. of Louisiana guilty Wednesday of the first of several articles of impeachment; the House impeached Porteous on corruption charges.
Porteous, from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, was accused of corruption and accepting kickbacks, as well as lying to the Senate and FBI about his past, regarding his nomination to the federal bench.
In March, the House of Representatives voted unanimously to impeach Porteous, making him the nation's 15th federal judge ever impeached.
Last year, the House Judiciary Committee Task Force on Judicial Impeachment held evidentiary hearings that led to unanimous approval of the four articles of impeachment.

typical of most Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas judges. Just a drop in the bucket to cleaning out the "closet".
Eww, he looks corrupt and should have been impeached!!! So that's DONE – next START – then the Dream Act – then DADT!!! There is enough time in this year to accomplish ALL because ALL of it has been on the table for a while!!!

Poor guy going to loose his job now where if he has been in the House or Senate he would have only gotten a strongly worded letter of disapproval.
How do we get Congress or all law enforcement divisions with jurisdiction investigate Supreme Court members like Alito who decide cases in favor of their own personal financial interests or Thomas that according to his own book has an opinion already in mind before hearing the case. There are others federal judges such as Bill Pryor who is solidly against a woman`s right to decide her own health issues.
You know, this is not the only instance–this one just got caught. However, it's not only corruption but the arrogance of the judiciary, the lawyers, and the police, and the inability of ordinary folks to be able to afford any reasonable chance for access to justice...these are the serious problems. As a lawyer, myself, I find it so frustrating that the system just continues to get worse.

Wow, amazing how fast our Gov works, only took them a little over 1 & 1/2 yrs!! But will he get jail time???
I watched the voting live on all four counts and he was found guilty by two thirds of the senate on all counts. Since there was overwhelming evidence on all charges, my question is why Majority Leader Reid of Nevada found him not guilty on three of the four charges?? Was this some type of political posturing, did he owe him a favor, or is Reid just stupid.
Keep digging, you'll find many more like Porteous out there!
I must say that CNN is nearly as bad as Fox News these days. They write two short paragraphs about this corrupt judge who is being impeached. When it comes to stupid news like the Palin's etc., it seems that CNN can't find enough words to put on paper. Loosing credibility.
What a horrible creature.
Now they need to just get the rest of them including themselves. Then they can move on to the highly influential untouchables who are just as crooked as this goof.
I know some Supreme Court "Justices" who need to undergo this process.
