Washington (CNN) - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid may be pressing ahead with a Senate vote Thursday that could doom the repeal of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy on gay service members.
The vote may come despite progress in talks Wednesday night on a deal to get GOP Maine Sen. Susan Collins' vote. Collins, a supporter of the repeal, had been demanding ample debate time and amendments in exchange for her vote to start debate on the defense bill, which includes the repeal.
stupid harry... the economy and taxes have brought this country to its knees and this is the fight he wants to fall on his sword for... ?.....what a idiot....work on getting jobs !!!!!
Come on Reid, be a super-hero and PRESS FOR A VOTE!
Trust me, that way your chicken-little comrades in Congress can CHOOSE to empower themselves, and stop feeling and acting like victims.
Isn't that just like a republican to stand up for inequality in the military. Collins must think that the equality that the Constitutional guarantees is not meant for federal employees serving in the military.
Go ahead with the vote while you still have the votes Sen. Reid. This debate has been dragged out for way too long.
A complete waste of time. I am pretty sure nothing will be done now that Dems blocked the new tax bill in the house... Gridlock is here until Repubs take office... I have no problem with the gridlock for now... This is how Washington works... Repubs will have the power soon enough and than they can dictate the terms of what happens.. I am more than happy to wait for this time...
Bill Clinton's Liberal Dems tried the same things during their "Lame Duck" session but the same things happened then that will happen now....NOTTA! a "O" with the circle erased!
Please allow me to coin a phrase the once empowered Obambi and his Liberal Dem, Cronies told House Republicans right after the 2008 elections; "YOUR SIDE LOST AND WE WON"
Liberal Dems (namely Reid and Pelosi) need to realize that you do not have the power you once had and the reason why is this nation just FIRED the Democratic controled government!
He should "press ahead" with it because it is the right thing to do. If the two Arizona Senators want to lead the GOP into electoral suicide, Reid should pay for their tickets.
