Palin disses Michelle Obama over 'dessert'

(CNN) – Sarah Palin is again taking aim at Michelle Obama over her anti-obesity campaign, taking the opportunity in Sunday's "Sarah Palin's Alaska" to land a diss against the first lady's efforts to improve nutrition.

While making s'mores at one point during Sunday's episode, the former Alaska governor proclaims the marshmallow and chocolate treat is "in honor of Michelle Obama, who said the other day we should not have dessert."

It's not the first time Palin has taken a jab at Mrs. Obama over her campaign to discourage fattening foods, especially from public schools. The former vice presidential nominee told conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham last month that "the first lady cannot trust parents to make decisions for their own children, for their own families in what we should eat."

Palin also hand-delivered cookies to a Pennsylvania school last month before delivering a speech there, saying: "Who should be deciding what I eat? Should it be government or should it be parents? It should be the parents."

Palin's comments Sunday appear to be in reference to a speech Michelle Obama delivered in July, during which she described her own upbringing when it came to food and exercise.

"In the afternoon, there was no way we'd be allowed to lie around the house watching TV," she told the NAACP in a Kansas City speech. "Our parents made us get up and play outside."

"As I tell my kids, dessert is not a right," she added.

Sarah needs to realize that there are a lot of parents who don't try to make their children eat healthy foods but let them each junk food and sweets whenever they want. She needs to stay home, eat s'mores as she watches Russia on her front porch and stay out of debates she knows nothing about.

Once again Sarah Palin has inseted foot in mouth. She is either really really stupid and doesn't even understand the point the First Lady is making or she just doesn't care how low she stoops to get press. God help us if she is ever elected to anational office.

Now Sarah is campaigning against good nutrition and slamming a woman who is actually accomplishing some good for the country. Sarah, you're not fit to be her scullery maid!

Sarah Palin needs to get a life! I totally agree with Michele Obama does she know how much it cost to treat a child with diabetes? No. I'm sure she doesn't. We are on of the most unhealthiest countries, sad. No said your kids can't have sweets but why should that be all they eat. Its hard for most parents to feed their kids healthly foods because the healthy foods are too expensive. It would be nice it kids could at least get one good meal a day in their life. Sarah Plain makes me sick she tries to attack any and everything the Obama's do and never has a solution!

You go, Michelle. Sure, parents SHOULD be the ones to tell their kids what to eat, but unfortunately too many parents don't bother guiding their kids in good eating habits, otherwise we would not have an epidemic of obesity and diabetes. In the absence of good parenting, I have no problem with good, common sense advice on eating being introduced at the schools. I just wish the media would stop covering Sarah Palin, and maybe she would go away. What a ninny.

How anyone can have a problem with an anti-obesity campaign is beyond me, but somehow I think if Michelle Obama were pro anything Palin would find a way to be against it. I also think CNN is being awfully generous in linking Palin's statement to Michelle Obama's speech to the NAACP – it seems far more likely that she's flat out made it up based on truthiness for the talk radio crowd.

A drowning man will catch at a straw. That's what Sarah Palin is doing. Michelle Obama never said we shouldn't eat dessert. Her statement indicates she thinks it should be a treat, not something to eat all the time. Nothing is wrong with that. Around Thanksgiving M.O. said we should enjoy the holidays & not worry about calories. Sarah Palin needs to back off! If parents were doing a great job, then childhood obesity wouldn't be an issue you lunatic! M.O. also never said the govt should control what kids eat; she said ALL of us should be involved (parents & govt alike). Get it right S.P.

Sarah Palin obviously is a true conservative – she believe in limited government, in her case the limited governance is in controling her own children. ("Now dont you be going getting pregnant, you betcha"). She cant keep her mouth under control, never mind her own children.

Just when I thought that Palin could not posibbly become anymore stupid, she once again has raised the bar. If there is ever a remake of the Wizard of Oz, she is a natural for the role of the Scarecrow because she has the song "If I only had a brain" down perfectly. Its beyond comprehension that anybody can take this person seriously.

This from the woman a week ago who was calling for greater U.S. government spending to support the health of suffering Haitians and she can even find the decency to support the Hunger Free Kids Act in her OWN country. This is beyond shameful! So very very saaaddddd!

I find Michelle Obama to exude class, education and at least intelligent. Unlike grifter Sarah Palin who has to earn her keep
by being a carnival barker for the trickery of the Republicans by selling poisoned tea. At least Michelle is qualified to hold a position on the INSIDE of the capitol and doesn't earn her keep as a traveling snake oil salesman, peddling Un-American ideology disguised as conservatism. Nancy is also not a quitter. Unlike the half-term oddity, Palin. Discouraging the childhood obesity program by bringing cookies to a parent's meeting. It is proof in the book(rag) that Pallin is pushing
with lies that the first lady is not proud of our country that she is jealous of and only wishes that she was half the American woman that Michelle Obama is.

What a bunch of dimwits our country has seem to become.

This woman has to be one of the most ignorant in recent history! She shows that ignorance every single time she opens her mouth. Now to criticize the First Lady for her efforts to do something about the sorry state of the health and fitness of our country in incredible.

I guess what I was really hoping, with the recent passing of such a grand lady like Elizabeth Edwards, was that we could have a moratorium on stories about this imbecile who gets so much press while other women more qualified and talented are ignored.

Obesity is a killer in this country and if you want to talk about health-care costs, you can start with how much poor nutrition, which often leads to obesity, contributes to the astronomical amount of money we spend on health care. Our government is most certainly not going to dictate what we must feed ourselves or our children, but we would do well to heed the advice for the sake of our kids' health and well-being. Palin is a simple-minded dolt and the media pay way too much attention to the idiotic words that comes out of this woman's mouth.
