Palin disses Michelle Obama over 'dessert'

(CNN) – Sarah Palin is again taking aim at Michelle Obama over her anti-obesity campaign, taking the opportunity in Sunday's "Sarah Palin's Alaska" to land a diss against the first lady's efforts to improve nutrition.

While making s'mores at one point during Sunday's episode, the former Alaska governor proclaims the marshmallow and chocolate treat is "in honor of Michelle Obama, who said the other day we should not have dessert."

It's not the first time Palin has taken a jab at Mrs. Obama over her campaign to discourage fattening foods, especially from public schools. The former vice presidential nominee told conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham last month that "the first lady cannot trust parents to make decisions for their own children, for their own families in what we should eat."

Palin also hand-delivered cookies to a Pennsylvania school last month before delivering a speech there, saying: "Who should be deciding what I eat? Should it be government or should it be parents? It should be the parents."

Palin's comments Sunday appear to be in reference to a speech Michelle Obama delivered in July, during which she described her own upbringing when it came to food and exercise.

"In the afternoon, there was no way we'd be allowed to lie around the house watching TV," she told the NAACP in a Kansas City speech. "Our parents made us get up and play outside."

"As I tell my kids, dessert is not a right," she added.

Obviously, Palin is still living in High School. This is the kind of very crass, uninformed, idiotic stuff the "mean girls" would say. Michelle Obama is just trying to get kids and parents aware of the value of good nutrition. That's all. What's so bad about that? No one is against an occasional dessert. Too many children in this country live on fast food and snacks. It's becoming increasingly clear how weird Palin is. Spooky weird.

"The former vice presidential nominee told conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham last month that "the first lady cannot trust parents to make decisions for their own children, for their own families in what we should eat.""

It's not about what parents serve their kids as much as its about what schools serve kids over which parents have virtually no control. Sarah should get her facts straight before she speaks.

She really is a complete and total idiot. Michelle is just trying to make this world a healthier place. I guarantee you if a Republican wife had done this, Sarah would not have a problem with it. But then again, she is such a clueless idiot, who knows?

I swear if this woman is elected President in 2012, then the world may very well come to an end 2 years from tomorrow.

How incredibly yet not surprisingly juvenile of Palin. America please...do the right thing if you REALLY care about your kids' futures.

Parents have done such a great job, continually fast fooding it. Sarah should keep her baking to herself, family, and maybe an occasional homeless person should they come her way.

It is a snarky, mean, spiteful, intentionally controversial dig. It is also pointless and wrong. (Ms. Obama did not say that.) Pretty typical Palin.

So, now eating cookies is a symbol of our freedom??? How close to a 5 year old can we get? Worse, she's bringing cookies around to people and telling them to "be bad, it's ok". How is this different from the 13 year old drug dealer telling kids to smoke weed to be cool just because teachers and parents said it was harmful?

I'm tired of being smart alec about it, I just gotta ask. Why CNN? This has nothing to do with politics. This is someone who is OCD with being in the spotlight, who upon any comment that has anything to do with washington more than it has to do with Gossip is instantly thrown the cover of breaking news. Its expected with Fox to cover everything she does, but come on CNN! Its supposed to be a news network! Not Gossip or TMZN. If you feel the desire to continue 24/7 Palin coverage, why not break out political ticker into a serious and not serious (like this) section?

The irony is that if you take a look at the children of this country...I think its quite clear that parents are having a very hard time feeding their kids healthy food. Certainly there are a variety of reasons from financial to ignorance, but they need help..and that is ok. How can her supporters from the South and Midwest where obesity is a rampant among kids diasagree when they take their kids to the husky section or have to buy elastic waist band pants? How about our Armed Forces who are having to reject more and more recruits b/c they are overweight? Palin's message is dangerous and nothing other than self-serving. Can someone please tell her supporters that its ok to disagree with her on certain things?

This idiot can burp and cnn will make like it's national news. I feel cnn and other media outlets focus on Palin because she say stupid things and bring controversy. You are just fattening her purse which is all she cares about. How stupid is it to blast someone who suggest eating healthly.

She's raking in the dough [pun intended]. That's all Sarah Louise Palin is about, these days. How much media attention and how much money she can obtain from her appearances. Its commonly known as being a "media ho".

Why – why – why does anyone in his or her right mind listen to this babbing nitwit? Stop giving her any press coverage and maybe she will fade back into moose country once and forever.

Take a good look at the picture – this is the ONLY thing this woman is qualified to do and I am sure those in the food service industry don't want her around either.
ALL of us can do with a little less dessert – take a look at your own children MS Palin and you should be instuting the little less dessert plan!!!!!

What possible reason does Sarah Palin have for dissing Mrs Obama? Sour grapes, that's what. So much of what she says is just sour grapes over losing the election. Get over it, lady. And CNN? This isn't news. Please stop fawning over this woman. You're just encouraging her.

Michelle Obama does not ban dessert – she advocates personal responsibility. As usual, Palin lies in an attempt to create hysteria. It is a sad situation when people actually believe her.

Good thing these people weren't around during the Nancy Reagan and "Just Say No" years....they would be saying "Who should be deciding what I smoke? Should it be government or should it be parents? It should be the parents."
