Washington (CNN) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday led jubilant legislators and soldiers discharged under the "don't ask, don't tell" policy in singing "God Bless America" to celebrate the upcoming repeal of the controversial law.
President Barack Obama will sign the repeal bill on Wednesday, and Pelosi did her part at the ceremony attended by hundreds of supporters of the repeal by signing the measure passed by Congress to send it to the White House.

Congrats to everyone who contributed to the historic actions in the US Congress to FINALLY repeal DADT. It's been a long, hard fight. Bigotry still exists in America, and there are still a lot of battles to fight before civil rights are settled for the LGBTs, but this was a huge win.
A recent AP story stated that the ban won't be lifted immediately after the bill is signed into law by President Obama. Apparently, the Department of Defense has to rewrite policy to come in line with the law. What? How about a policy that says "Obey the law". Also, there now must be a study (one can never have enough studies) to see if lifting the ban is going to negatively affect the military's ability to fight the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as possibly disrupt normal military operations. Maybe it would have been a good idea to ask those questions prior to passing the repeal of DADT. Maybe. Anyone remember Nancy Pelosi's "We have to pass it to see what's in it" statement? It will be interesting when the first service member applies for military housing after marrying their partner in one of the states that allow same sex marriage. I applaud anyone wishing to serve, and I don't believe for one second that any sane person (gay or straight) considers 18 months in Iraq or Afghanistan as a fair trade for the opportunity to see a guy's naked rear end in the shower.

What amazes me is when you consider what the democrats have done to California, how could they vote Pelosi, Waters, Boxer, and the rest of the socialistic gang back in? Amazing.....or just stupidity. I've been a long time supporter of the premise gays are born with a genetic reason they are gay. I fully support that with the clear understanding other factors such as environment and an amount of choice also play roles. We have now been blessed with the scientific determination there is a genetic motivator for a person to be a liberal. One can only hope they can find suitable treatments for both of these genetic defects and rid the world of both scourges.
Yes, thank God we have forced those wonderful San Francisco gay family values on our military with complete disregard for the damage it will do. I can hardly wait until the rest of these leftists gets thrown out in 2012.

Newsflash for morons: the gay people who wanted to serve are already serving (for the most part)...THEY WERE ALREADY THERE....they just no longer have to worry about being given the boot if they choose to open about being gay.

Nancy Pelosi is OUTSTANDING!! Intelligent, savvy, classy and brassy. The Half-Wit half termer would be left blubbering in the sidelines in a showdown with a TRUE woman in politics like Pelosi.
The repeal, at long last, of this shameful policy is another triumph for our President and Commander-in-Chief, Barack Obama, as well as ANOTHER campaign promise fulfilled. DREAM Act has been temporarily sidelined, and Guantanamo has not come into fruition, but he's batting average is quite impressive.
When was the last time that the White Citizens' Council, err, GOP, did anything for anybody other than themselves, especially if it put their so-called 'political career' (more like Corporate Welfare) in jeopardy? NEVER.
