As Congress closes, Pelosi reflects on accomplishments of 111th Congress

Washington (CNN) – Outgoing Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-California, said Wednesday she is, "very, very proud of the work that was accomplished by this Congress."

Pelosi spoke to reporters just before the House was set to pass the 9/11 first responders health care bill and then adjourn.

"We came here to do a job, we got much of it done," she said.

Pelosi had kind words for both parties calling this "quite an exhilarating week."

She says she will be back in January, and even though she will no longer be Speaker, "As long as the American people have a high unemployment rate, as long as families are looking for jobs, as long as people have uncertainty about their children's education and about their own economic security our work is far from over," Pelosi said.

Democrats, Pelosi said, "look forward to working with new majority to solve problems of the American people."

The American people couldn't wait. They solved most of the major problem all by themselves.

Thanks to Pelosi for accomplishing so much for America, a great Speaker of the House. Not surprising Pelosi received over 80% of the votes in her reelection.

Passing the laws is the easy part when you have a majority. It is not an accomplishment because the bully beat up the little kid on the playground. However, you seeing the damage you have caused will be evident as of now (9.8% unemployment with no economic recovery on the horizon) through the next 10 years. I really don't know if the damage you caused can EVER be corrected. Amazing how the majority of Congress hated America SO badly that they spent two years doing their best to destroy it. The sad part is it looks as though they succeeded. This country will NEVER be the same again. Say goodbye to the country you grew up in – it will never be that good again..............

Pelosi never was the issue. They GOP Clones just like to use her as the Scapegoat for their own problems, rather than attack the President whom is 3x as popular, or actually do real work to solve problems.

One can say what they will about Speaker Pelosi, but she has accomplished much as the first woman Speaker of the House. I may not always agree with everything in politics but job well done for her successes.

"very, very proud of the work that was accomplished by this Congress."

Very proud of doing things that got the Dems figurative head handed to them in November? Reality and this woman aren't even distant acquaintances.

"As long as the American people have a high unemployment rate, as long as families are looking for jobs, as long as people have uncertainty about their children's education and about their own economic security our work is far from over,"

The Dems took a poor situation and blew it up to near-catastrophic proportions. They've done enough damage–their work had better be over...

our work is far from over," Pelosi said.

Now that scares the crap out of most Americans! Let's see 10% plus unemployment and a debt of 14 trillion and counting...can't speak for anyone but myself but I sure have had enough of your elitist leftist ilk!

"very, very proud of the work that was accomplished by this Congress." so says Pelosi ....This is what happens when you have too much botox in the human system. It gets into the brain and causes the thinking process to stop and makes one delusional.

Thanks, Nancy. You fought for the people, and we appreciate it. Keep up the good work, and stand toe to toe with the incoming Weeper of the House. The thought of him in line for the presidency makes ME weep.

How generous of her. She's willing to "work with the new majority". It's such a shame she refused to work with them while she was with the majority.

She just needs to crawl off under her nasty, slimy little rock and stop inflicting herself on the US public.

Not that She did anything to move bills along, what a waste. Emailed her as speaker and get a reply saying I wasn't in her jurisdiction. I'm in the USA you should be listening to all American Nancy. BUH BYE!!

Thank you, Nancy Pelosi, for stalling any progress for two years. Now that the Republicans have taken control of the House away from you, maybe we can see some real progress in the next two years. Hopefully, the bipartisanship we've observed will continue dispite your position as Minority Leader.

Nancy Pelosi has been the subject of a lot of criticizm in the last few years which is a shame because she has not only used her power wisely but has been behind every worthwhile piece of legislation that the Democrats have been able to save from the destructional actions of the OPPOSING party. She is a woman of exceptional intellegence and her value as speaker should not be minimalized...As the new "Speaker" takes over, it won't take long for this to become very visible.

She has done a great service to this country. Don't let the Republicans or political ads take away from what she was able to get done.
