Palin's e-mails remain secret – for now

(CNN) – Despite repeated requests from journalists and citizen activists, thousands of Sarah Palin's official e-mails sent while she was governor of Alaska will remain secret – at least a little while longer.

According to the Anchorage Daily News, one of former Alaska Attorney General Dan Sullivan's final acts late last month was to delay the more-than 25,000 e-mails relating to official business sent by Palin, her husband Todd, or members of her staff while she was in office.

The delay, requested by Palin's former staff, constitutes the 14th time release of the emails has been postponed.

The Alaska attorney general is permitted by law to delay the release of the e-mails if there are logistical reasons for doing so or if he has reason to believe the e-mails would reveal sensitive information that subsequently threatens the functioning of the governor's office. Palin appointed Sullivan to his post in 2009, just a month before she resigned from office.

Palin's former staff has asked for a delay until the end of next May – a timing that just might awkwardly coincide with the beginnings of a Palin presidential campaign, should the former Alaska governor decide to run.

Requests for the e-mails were first made by several news organizations in 2008 when Palin was named to the Republican presidential ticket.

A spokesperson from the Alaska governor's office was not available for comment.

Probably those emails were being sent during her super secret START negotiations with the Russians or peace talks with the Taliban and have national security implications. Couldn't just be her and the "first dude" covering up their crooked business dealings that are the norm in Alaska.

Its very fine to keep those emails as a secret at the moment. But I can assure you as long as Sarah joins the campaigning team 2011 they will no longer be a secret anymore.

I'm not surprised they don't want to release Palin's e-mails. She is definitely hiding something. I'd say she's hiding her intelligence as she would only need the head of a pin to hide it.Well, I hope that when they do come out they will show what she is really trying to hide. But I don't really think that will happen because by that time she will have paid off a computer expert to alter the e-mails to show her in a favorable light.

If she has nothing to hide, then why not release the "personal" emails. Somebody call that guy from wikilieaks and get him on the job. I am praying the Repulicans nominate her, that will make President Obama's re-election that much easier

What on earth could these e-mails contain that would embarrass the queen of the silver dollar? So much for that right wingnut transparency. It would be interesting to see Todd's role in the Alaskan governorship.

Are they trying to hide how stupid she is or how corrupt she is? Or both?

Considering that all the media has ever done is trash Sarah, I wonder what the very same media salivating over access to Palin's emails intend to do with them? I suspect that journalists will eagerly pore over every email, scouring for every grain of dirt – real or imagined – that they can find, and totally ignore anything that in any way vindicates her or her policy positions.

If the emails were business emails, they should be a matter of public record. What I question is what emails whould Todd Palin be sending through Sarah's official email address. From what I understand, he had no official title, or was not a public employee of the state of Alaska during the time Sarah was Governor. C'mon, Sarah. It's time to pracxtice what you preach. Show a little transparency here. What have you got to hide?

Of course they are delayed again. If she is really smart she needs to put them out now to get through the hell that is going to follow her. Can you imagine this woman letting her husband conduct state business for her as if he was the governor e-lect. She really makes women look stupid. Now we will have to fight for womens rights all over again because of her stupidity.

Palin wasn't in office long enough to actually do the damage many are hoping might be revealed through these e-mails. Most interesting will be the level of control Todd Palin had while his wife was governor. More than likely it is the extent of power Sara Palin delegated to Todd Palin at play here, and the driving force in keeping secret as much as possible Todd's official *government* e-mails. I am still surprised that Todd Palin has yet to be called to task for his secessionist affiliations. One would think that the *Patriots* who make up Palin's base might be offended at such blatant anti-American leanings. Kind of hard to push American Exceptionalism while married to a secessionist wannabe. Just saying.

Guess the reporters are running out of Palin bashing material so instead of using the old stuff again and again like has been done so many times, they want something new...

Don't be scared of what you said when you were in office, even if sent by your hubby (wrong) and/or your staff memebers!!!! Too funny!!! Hmmm you'll have to release your tax returns and these emails should be released too when you throw your hat into the ring to run for President.

Just another reason politicians won't ever say the truth. First of all no one wants to hear it, and you get caught saying it or email in this case.

Bring these e-mails out in the open so we can see the real reason she became a HALF-TERM Governor. We as a nations Citizens need to know the CORRUPT practices of OUR Goverment officials. Next, take down Cheney and company for war crimes.
