Obama warns Republicans may cause country to 'fall backward'

(CNN) - While new House Speaker John Boehner received the gavel from the new House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi Wednesday, President Obama shot back at the Republican agenda saying:

"It's up to you to show that you care too much about this country to let it fall backward."

Via his political "BarackObama" Twitter account, which originates from the Democratic National Committee's Organizing for America, the president linked to a statement on the OFA website that said Democrats must fight back against the GOP who are determined to roll back the progress of the past two years.

"They're starting with health care reform," Obama wrote. "It's up to us to fight back. We're forming a campaign to protect our progress, showing just how our achievements are already improving lives across the country-and taking on the Republicans who are pushing for repeal."

The website that Obama linked to through his Twitter account asks viewers to sign up to support the Democratic cause and make a donation.

House Republicans have already voiced intentions to vote to repeal health care reform passed by the Obama administration in the opening days of the new Congress.

GOP isn't in power a day and already they are breaking their own pledge to allow hearings and debate on bills before voting. Isn't that what they complained about the whole time the Dems ran the House, and now they are going to waste time trying to jam through a repeal of HCR knowing full well it will die in the Senate or get vetoed by Obama.

I can't believe how stupid people are that fell for all the Republican BS in the midterm.

Eric Cantor says HCR will bankrupt America while CBO says it will cut the defecit by $143 billion.

The thing is, the insurance companies WANT HCR because the mandate gives them millions of new customers. They just don't want to have to cover people with pre-existing conditions and other high risk people. So who are the Republicans really looking out for.

I am so glad that the Senate did not switch to GOP. I would rather have 2 years of gridlock than have the GOP destroy everything.

When he says "fall backward" does he mean we might go back to having a good educations system, rather than one controlled by a union that cares more about getting Viagara than educating our youth. We might force people to take responsibility for their own lives rather than relying on democrat liberals telling them what to do. We may be able to have bake sales again. We may actually keep the government away from the internet. We may reestablish some freedom rather than having a bunch elitists telling us what to think and do. We may actually get a government that serves the taxpaying citizens rather than the entitlement frauds.

Obaman would be smart to not say much and let the GOP fail on their own. Let them go after Health Care and the Dems should focus all energy on jobs. Show the public that GOP are about settling old scores and not moving the country forward. Obama and Dems create jobs and you win. Nobody cares anymore about Health Care. We care about jobs, jobs, jobs.

Sorry Barry, but you aren't entitled to a self-serving opinion on your "sucesses," because, as you were so fond of saying two years ago, this time WE WON.

I PRAY (yes PRAY) EVERY NIGHT that the new Congress WILL STOP and ROLL BACK the madness shoved down the throats of every good AMERICAN TAXPAYER. The EMPEROR WANNABE'S words do not instill fear in my heart. Only hope that FOR ONCE what he is saying is the truth!

I think that you have already done damage to the country. Most Americans voted to "go back" to the way it was before Obama came into office. So, the majority supports Republican efforts to go back to the way it was, when people had jobs, and the leadership actually stood up for American liberties instead of taking them away, under the guise of "health care."

Obama seems a lot less arrogant without congress in his pocket. He knows for a fact that ObamaCare would never have stood up to serious scrutiny as a reasonable federal government program. Now he knows it is finally getting that scrutiny and as everyone knows, we can do better. The union buy-off alone cost Americans $60 billion. How does he justify that?
