DeMint to skip CPAC

(CNN) – Republican South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint is opting out of an appearance at this year's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), making him the latest Republican to the criticize what some have seen as a pro-gay tilt to the prominent conference.

"With leading conservatives organizations not participating this year, Senator DeMint will not be attending. He hopes to attend a unified CPAC next year," DeMint spokesman Wesley Denton told CNN.

Olbermann and MSNBC part ways

(CNN) - Keith Olbermann is leaving MSNBC, the "Countdown" host announced on his program Friday night.

The liberal commentator said he was told "this was going to be the last edition of the show."

"In the mundane world of television goodbyes, reality is laughably uncooperative," Olbermann said.

Friday's announcement marks the end of an eight year career at the network.

The news comes after the prime-time host was suspended in November for violating the NBC ethics policies when he donated to three Democrats seeking federal office.

Biden vs. Blitzer: A situation over the 'Situation Room'

(CNN) - It's a turf war between Vice President Joe Biden and CNN's very own Wolf Blitzer, anchor of "The Situation Room." Sort of.

So much for civility in politics

Washington (CNN) – If it's over, it was nice while it lasted.

The brief period of civility in politics in the wake of the shootings in Tucson, Arizona, two weeks ago was tested this week. Some in the nation's capital forgot the call for a government that's worthy of 9-year-old shooting victim Christina Green.
