Bachmann says she's 'not in competition with Paul Ryan'

Washington (CNN) - Representative Michele Bachmann tells CNN at the top of her post State of the Union speech she will announce that her remarks are not the official Republican response.

She says she's spoken with Representative Paul Ryan, who is giving the official GOP rebuttal, and with Republican leadership and explains she's "not in competition with Paul Ryan." Instead she says the media has turned it into a rebuttal, misconstruing her intentions.

Bachmann says about a month ago she was invited to speak to the membership of the Tea Party Express and never expected the media to carry her speech live.

Her themes tonight will be "making sure Congress is not spending more than its taking in," "no tax increases" and the importance of "acting within the bounds of the Constitution."

CNN plans to carry Bachmann's remarks live after Rep Paul Ryan speaks.

So this is a media generated "crisis", "confilct in the gop", etc. Why am I not surprised? The media and leftists concocting "news" to further their agenda and mislead people, AS USUAL.

How can the media misconstrue something when she doesn't even know what it is herself.

Is this the same Michelle Bachmann who supports the Christian Rock group that advocates murdering homosexuals? Yes, yes it is. She's the PERFECT spokesperson for the lunatics in the Tea Party.

I'm not competing. I just want my own nationally televised speech to present the Tea Party position!

I don't understand why CNN and the networks are giving her air time.

You know, CNN, I just learned from another site that you will be airing the Teabag Princess' response to the SOTU. I have watched you for years and about a year ago you started making a slow, gradual right turn in order to boost your ratings against MSNBC and FauxNews. You are now officially FauxNews Lite. I understand your desperation to improve your ratings, but in doing so you are making a fatal error. When you put Erickson under contract, I stopped watching and haven't tuned in since. I am not alone. Have your ratings improved in your prime time line-up? Maybe a little. But not in the crucial 25-54 demo. All you are doing is slowly killing your brand. FauxNews watchers will not tune in. To them you are still the "Clinton News Network". And to the rest of us you have prosituted yourself to the teaba99ers and lost all respect as a fact-based, journalistic news organization. I hope it was worth it. Teaba9s away!!!!! It ain't gonna work.

I dont feel as though Bachmann should be givig a rebuttal to the State of the Union speech, especially when the Tea Party does not consider themselves an actual third party. However this is the first I have heard that Bachmann intended this to be a private speech at a speaking engagement. If its such a big deal to the media, maybe they shouldnt cover it live.

I thought the the Tea Party was aligned with the Republican Party? If the Tea Party merits response time on all the networks, why shouldn't the Socialist Party get time? What happened to fair and balanced?

How any thinking American can give two seconds of their time to this Palin clone, is beyond me. She blatantly lies, `knows very little American History, knows literally nothing about the Constitution she blats about all the time. DUH !

  11. Bachman is an IDIOT

Bachman do not backtrack on your State of the Union speech...we would like to know where you and your Tea bagging lemming wanna take this country; yes, back to the stone ages...where state rights trump individual rights, where guns rule over liberty and where everyone is either a socialist, Nazist or a communist!

And most importantly, where the spilling of the blood of patriots and the use of 2nd ammendment remedies is the clarion call to violence & hate as a solution....to State of the Union, NOT!!!!

Sarah Palin needs to invite this woman to Alaska so they can sit out on Sarah's porch and keep an eye on Russia for the rest of us.

Michelle Bachman, like Palin, O'Donnell, etc., should realize that she is just the latest two-headed calf at the county fair. She will soon be forgotten when the next anomaly comes along

It is good to see that Betty the Birther is still alive and still clueless. In an earlier Bachmann post, Betty showed how uninformed a birther can be. Go Betty, keep on hanging on to your hate, fear and lies!

Might have been nice if Ms Bachmann had worried about adhering to the Constitution when George W, Cheney, Rowe etc were trashing it to suit their needs..........There is no way this Palin wanna be should be heard by anyone...Too dumb for words
