Democrats waste no time in drive to recapture House

Washington (CNN) - Democrats sharply criticize 17 Republicans for supporting budget cuts in a new campaign unveiled Monday that is designed to try and help win back the House majority in 2012.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which is the political arm of House Democrats, announced that it will run ads on radio stations and web sites as well as launch automated telephone calls and emails into the congressional districts of 17 Republicans on the budget theme.

Full list after jump.

As part of the campaign, the DCCC also calls into question the ethics of two freshman Republicans, Rep. David Rivera of Florida and Mike Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania. Rivera is under investigation for alleged financial irregularities, while the watchdog organization, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, filed an ethics complaint against Fitzpatrick for reportedly holding a fundraiser in the Capitol.
This early, low cost campaign push is being called the "Drive to 25" to symbolize the number of seats Democrats need to win back the majority. Republicans currently control the chamber by a 242 to 193 seat margin.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released this list Monday of 19 Republicans included in the "Drive to 25" campaign:

Lou Barletta (PA-11)
Charlie Bass (NH-02)
Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25)
Steve Chabot (OH-01)
Chip Cravaack (MN-08)
Robert Dold (IL-10)
Sean Duffy (WI-07)
Blake Farenhold (TX-27)
Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-08)
Nan Hayworth (NY-19)
Joe Heck (NV-03)
Robert Hurt (VA-05)
Thad McCotter (MI-11)
Patrick Meehan (PA-07)
Dave Reichert (WA-08)
David Rivera (FL-25)

If you're for sticking Pelosi back in as house speaker you truly are insane.

It should be a cake walk to get 25 seats back. The people who voted these republicans in are starting to see firsthand for themselves that these losers have no plan to create jobs.

They forgot Mr (Tea Party) Berg of North Dakota, and the Traffic Ticket Lady of South Dakota. Also would be nice to clean up the 6th District of Minnesota.

Calling out the Rethugs. That's nice. I would submit that the Dems may want to start by getting THEIR house in orderso that EVERY them is speaking from the same script page. Harry Reid are you listening? A Party united, speaking as one, that would be refreshing, encouraging, and courageous. Then you go after the low-fruit on the Rethuglikkklan tree.

Round up you wild horses,Dems, and reign them in; at least until AFTER the election. Then hunt in a PACK. You'll be more successful at capturing your quarry that way. Worked for the GObP.
    Just a thought.

Anyone that has a pea brain knows we have to cut spending dramatically. The dumbocraps response, lead by Obummie, is no. They believe they have to keep going with their welfare state so they can keep getting elected. We used to be a country where you worked for a living and got ahead. Now if you work, you support dead beats created by the dumbocrap party. Consider this....47% don't pay taxes and 1% of us pay 41% of the taxes. People can lay around for 3 years and collect unemployment. 26 weeks was plenty of time to get a job. If you haven't found a job in a year, much less 3, you are beyond sorry. This isn't the America I grew up in. We are becoming the laughing stock of the world.

With the sharp, effective progress Americans are seeing from the Republican House already, Democrats need to just get used to being the minority party at the very least until we get the economy back up and running efficiently again.

Don't the Dems have Democraps siding with the GObP on this whole useless Healthcare Repeal thingy?
Why don't you start by pulling those renegades to the side and telling them to get with the program and stop acting like yahoos?

Lets just see where these Dems are when it comes down to good old fashioned VOTES on the budget and spending going forward. The Dems won't be able to hide from this. The American people want to stop the runaway Federal spending and debt that exploded over the last 4 years (especially the last 2). The national Dems and the liberals from safe districts will demagogue any spending cuts introduced by Repubs in the harshest way they can but its the individual Democrat running for re-election in 2012 who will have to have their votes COUNTED and then go home to their voters and explain.

Will they follow Pelosi and Co over the cliff again? I don't think so.

These RepubliCONS need to be targeted in the crosshairs of the American voters.

How comical... The Democrat Party of Charlie Rangel, the most crooked politician walking the halls of Congress, is talking about others? Wasn't the lesson from Charlie Rangel that none of this matters and if you get caught you get a slap on the wrist (while the average American would serve jail time!).

And by ALL MEANS Democrats, PLEASE talk about the Republicans spending! Since that is what a majority of Americans want, you'll ensure a Republican win. It also means the Democrats DON'T want to cut spending and turn the country into Greece. Whoever dreams this stuff up on theleft is absolutely clueless!

Don't know if you guys were paying attention or not, but Americans voiced their opinions pretty strongly about runaway spending last November 2. The usual attempts to demonize any attempt to rein in federal spending and smear the character of anyone who doesn't toe the Democrats' far-left line didn't work in 2010 and won't work in 2012. November '12 can't come soon enough!

The country is going broke at an insane Democrat-inspired pace and these idiots "sharply criticize 17 Republicans for supporting budget cuts." Unreal. Either the Dems have completely lost touch with reality or, in a fit of petty vindictiveness over last November's drubbing, are truly trying to wreck the country. If they think either insanity or vengeance will help them win seats in 2012, they're even crazier than I thought they were.

To retake the house all the Democrats have to do is to get THEIR voters motivated and to the polls. If they had not sat out in the last election the republicans would have LOST SEATS and not gained them. Any body in their right mind, except the super rich and those spurred on by corporations would never vote for any republican. So if the Democrats want to win they better do something for the base and get them to the polls.

Since fox's republican informerical channel is lossing viewers we know that most of America has come awake. With scabs like Bachmann wanted to cut veterans benefits to Palin giving all kind of advice in stuff she knows absolutely positively nothing about people are beginning to see how dopey, mean spirited, and vindictive republicans are and they want no part of them.

It is up the Democrats get the message to your base. I know since every single publishing corporation in this country is owned by the republicans, while all the TV and cable channels are owned by the republicans and the constantly push the republican lies, it is going to be hard but they can do it. And the constant "liberal media" the biggest lie the republicans along with the republican info channel fox is beginning to also sour. People are becoming more conscience of what is going on and they see the republicans and their actions are sickening and is what is destroying this country.

Pelosi and the democratic hose in that same time put us in debt $5 trillion in 4 years. That makes the Bush spending spree look like a miser.

Anyone who doesn't support wholesale budget cuts is irresponsible and has no business running our country. Send them packing.

Oh Gosh, how dare they support budget cuts!!! LOL... Just like a Dem to call someone out for cutting the budget rather than addiing to it!! Dems, you lost the Independents in 2010 and we are not coming back with this group(Pelosi and Reid) in Washington!! If Obama is re-elected and you gain 25 seats, what does America get? The same crap you gave us for the past two years!! Big spending far left liberal policies being rammed down out throats.. Maybe worse than what we saw since Obama will not have to worry about running for a 3rd term... No thanks Dems, we saw that movie already and we still have nighmares..

I would think that people from MI in Thaddeus McCotter's district would also like to have him defeated. He is an embarrassment to those with an education beyond grade school. As for Allen West in FL, he is on the edge of going postal.

So let me see.... The nation said stop spending money.... the Democratic Congressional Campaign Comittee is now targeting Republicans that are supporting spending cuts ... and somehow the DCCC will make them seem evil .... Where will it end??

  22. Joe from CT, not Lieberman

Only the Democrats (yes, my party) would limit their target to 19 seats when they need to capture 25 of them. What they need to do is go after some allegedly "safe" Republican seats, especially those of folks attending the Koch brothers' "seminar" this past weekend!
Just one thing – promise that Nancy Pelosi will NOT be selected as Speaker if you want to win these!

i'm still waiting for the republicans/GOP/TEA to call for a cut in their pay and their healthcare benefits. instead they are cutting government programs which will slow much needed programs down to a crawl and layoff many of the jobs that are there. what happened to growing the economy and jobs? recession 2.0 anyone?

And how about that new bill introduced by some congressman in CA wanting to pay off our debt to China even before SS recipients get their checks, if this country reached the debt ceiling. Good job to all my fellow citizens out there who get what they deserve when they vote, including all you older folks dependent on those SS checks each month. Personally, I think it's grandstanding, but it's certainly telling of just where "we the people" stand in order of importance to the new tea bagging Republican party. Lovely.
