Washington (CNN) - Senate Republicans have vowed to force a vote on repealing the health care law, but when should we expect it to occur?
Well, Sen. John Cornyn suggested Tuesday morning it might happen soon.
"Vote on HC repeal could come as early as this week in the Senate," the Texas Republican wrote on his Facebook page. Why is it significant that Cornyn made the prediction? He oversees the campaign efforts for Senate Republicans and is a member of the GOP leadership team.
So far, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has not offered a specific time and date, but the Kentucky Republican has said it will be soon.
Rebublicans, where are the BOBS? It's difficult to understand how these politicians were elected/reelected by the very people who need HEALTH CARE AND JOBS. I suppose that many folk would rather suffer themselves even if they think others are suffering.
Democrats waste a year passing a bill that not only did the majority not want but that they didn't even READ. Where did the jobs go? The democrats wasted two years not doing anythign about jobs. THAT'S what has happened so far.
Repealing health care reform will be like instigating the protests in Egypt!!! Don't do it! Amend it! Make it better! Create more JOBS in health care! Stay focused on helping people, not hurting people!
Democrats had two years to do something about jobs. WHAT HAPPENED?!?!?!?!
Stop the job killing health care law. Democrats lies about it.
WHERE ARE THE JOBS? WHERE ARE THE JOBS? WHERE ARE THE JOBS?
If you baggers & GObP'ers worked as hard on real pressing issues as you do on opposing everything, that would be a good start.
Compromise, progress...ever heard of these ?
@ Scott – try walking down the street naked. A representative of the government (the police) will arrest you as there are numerous laws forbidding you from doing so. As a result, the government is forcing you to buy clothing when you might otherwise not want to (a law I completely agree with given the obesity rate in the country).
I doubt if the minority can force a vote on anything. and when they're done with this exercise in futility, maybe they can spare a few minutes to work on, oh, i don't know, JOBS?????????????????? when are they going to understand the overwhelming majority of Americans don't want the health care reform bill repealed? it's looking better every day to folks with, you know, BRAINS???????????
Republicans = Fascists
Stop wasting taxpayer time and money. WHERE ARE THE JOBS? WHERE ARE THE JOBS? WHERE ARE THE JOBS?
There are jobs out there but you have to look for them and apply. But there are fewer since this healthcare law was passed. Many corporations had to set aside money in the billions for some because of Obamacare.
BTW, how much government money do you collect?! I wish we'd stop wasting THAT money!
THE JOBS..... WHERE ARE THEY???
It's been 3 months. You haven't reduced the deficit; you haven't reduced the size of the government; you haven't reduced the unemployment level; you haven't gotten rid of President Obama......you've done NOTHING. And that's EXACTLY what you're qualified to do: not a thing.
Liberals obviously couldn't do anything about jobs for two years but they expeect everyone else to do something about it in a month or two. Typical stance of people (LIBERALS) that don't think their Sh!t stinks.
I'll name one program Scott, it's called social security and medicare. Tell me one person who refuses their social security and medicare coverage. Besides, the republicans can't "force" a vote on anything...they are the minority. And for the SCOTUS, they would have to overturn decades of established precedent to call it unconstitutional. If a mandate it unconstitutional, then Social security is and Medicare is. This is a dangerous game of chicken you conservatives are playing with the American people... Keep it up, your House majority is more perilous then you think. Pelosi is just waiting to take that gavel back after you guys go back to your old tricks like the Terry Schiavo fiasco.
Gee are we going to beat this horse to death again? These stupid Republicans would rather waste time going over this crap instead of dealing with the economy. I suspect they think that repealing the Health Care bill will fix the economy. THE ECONOMY IS MESSED UP CAUSE OF THE STUPID WAR!!!!!!!! This war is costing us and will in the end destroy us! Give it up people! With all the money we spent on this war, we could have built technology to destroy anything coming out of these countries as far as an air strike is concerned. We could have secured our borders and stop illegals from coming into the country. If the Latinos are able to get in the country illegallly, what do you think the Al Queda can do? STOP THIS STUPID WAR AND LETS GET AMERICA BACK ON TRACK! FORGET THE HEALTH CARE BILL, FIX THE ECONOMY YOU FOOLS IN CONGRESS!!!!!!! I DOUBT WHETHER THE REPUBLICANS HAVE THE SLIGHTEST IDEA OF WHAT TO DO TO THE ECONOMY ANY MORE THAN THE DEMOCRATES DO! Instead they just beat the same horse as they always do! Poor Horse or poor us?
The Social Security Act of 1935 was ruled constitutional by SCOTUS based on the phrase "ensure domestic tranquility" in the preamble to the Constitution as well as the opening paragraph of Article I Sec. 8 that empowers Congress to lay taxes for (among other purposes) "to provide for the general welfare". I see HCR as constitutional for the same reasons.
As far as the insurance mandate.....I've always compared it to jury service. The Constitution guarantees a jury of our peers when accused of a crime. Ever try to ignore a jury summons? If so...you could find yourself in jail. But hey....that's not in the Constitution.
Isn't it awful that we could face jail time for ignoring a jury summons and yet paying more in taxes because you refuse to purchase health insurance that is a necessary part of ensuring domestic tranquility and providing for the general welfare is met with such opposition?
Granted, not everyone drives a car, but I guarantee you they depend on someone to drive them who is required by law to have car insurance. They just mooch off of others, same as their hospital bill won't get paid so mine is padded to cover hospital losses. Pay your own way, I'm sick of covering the cheap-skates.
@ Protect and Defend
from the stuff you seem to post here all the time I get the idea you won't mind paying for the uninsured with your tax dollars. That's very kind of you because if this HC gets repealed that's the only way it's going to get paid for. Then again maybe you're in that upper 2% that has gotten the tax breaks for almost 10 years and can afford it.
The other industrialized countries of the world who all have coverage for all of their citizens quite frankly cannot believe the health care policy in America. How can people claim that the US has the best health care in the world when it actually rates very low compared to other countries, has over thirty million people not covered, has a higher mortality rate for infants and a lower life expectancy. People need to fact check everything that they are told, re-read the parts of their Bibles where it talks about taking care of their brothers and they need to decide what is the moral and humane thing to do.
The American people were duped in the beginning by the silly rhetoric at town hall meetings and by the media coverage. It is like Pandora's box and now it is hard to get them to believe the truth. What a shame.
