Santorum disputes report he's taking aim at Palin

Washington (CNN) - Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum is taking aim at Politico over a report that claimed he is throwing punches at Sarah Palin for turning down an invitation at a high profile gathering of conservatives in Washington.

"This article is garbage," Santorum tweeted Wednesday morning. "All I said was- she is VERY busy, PERIOD. "

The comments that Politico's report referenced came in an interview Tuesday with conservative online radio host S.E. Cupp, during which the all-but-declared presidential candidate said Palin likely turned down an invitation to keynote the upcoming Conservative Political Action Conference because she has other "business opportunities."

"I have a feeling that she has some demands on her time, and a lot of them have financial benefit attached to them," Santorum also told Cupp, adding later Palin's mothering responsibilities may have also kept her away from Washington this weekend.

"I don't live in Alaska and I'm not the mother to all these kids and I don't have other responsibilities that she has," he said.

Politico called the comments a "knock" on Palin, under the headline, "Rick Santorum: Sarah Palin skips CPAC for C-notes."

"Reporter trying to create something out of nothing," Santorum added in his tweet.

Last week Palin turned down an invitation from organizers of CPAC to serve as the annual event's keynote speaker. It's the fourth time Palin has declined to appear at the conference that is among one of the most closely watched early gatherings of conservatives.

In a follow up post Wednesday, Politico reporter Andy Barr wrote Santorum is "Twe-eating his Palin words," adding that the ex-senator's original comments implied "that [Palin's] rebuffing the annual conservative gathering for a paid speech."

a lot of these Republicans are so afraid of Sarah Palin that's it's funny. They don't want to cross her because if they do her follwers won't vote for them. Either that or they are scared the "First Dude" will come beat them up for saying negative things about his wife.

Rick is right on the money to bring up the "financial benefits" of $arah's committments. That's how she makes decisions, through financial interest. I think he's incorrect, however, to bring up her "mothering responsibilities", as a reason she may have stayed away from this event. If they would've paid her enough, she'd have been there, mothering responsibilities aside.

Be a man Rick. If you're going to run (you won't win by the way) you should declare where you stand on what. If you can't judge that Palin is an intellectual lightweight or can't say it for offending her 20% "base", then you don't deserve to win. The woman is a fool. Only her supporters don't know that.

Say it and be a man. You'll get respect from the 80% who don't support her.

"All I said was- she is VERY busy, PERIOD. "

Yep. Very busy - considering the amount of time she is seen on T.V. publicly airing her extreme and rather embarrassing infatuation with President Obama in her "look at ME, look at ME" attempts to get him to acknowledge her. Probably keeps her awake at night thinking up her next strategy of all things Obama - she's starting to look awfully worn out.

Rick, you better make nice with Sarah, because she will be all over you. Sarah is so thin skinned that she cannot stand any criticism from you or any one else. But it should make no difference to You or Sarah since neither of you have a snowball's chance in Hell of winning the Presidency.

Santorum would do well to distance himself as far from Palin as possible. Her "brand" is toxic. Her lies, deceits, bigotry, inability to grasp the most basic elements of our constitutional freedoms, the subtitlies of our judical system and the history of the country, shows that she will never be anything but a humorous footnote to stupidity in the poitical life of America's 21st century. if he can't see that, then he's doomed politically himself. No independent is going to vote for anyone who aligns themselves, even marginially, with Sarah Palin.

After all he is at a disadvantage..Remeber Romney, Huckabee, Palin and Newt are getting all that free publicity by being on Fox. And they are going to yell and spew all they want to and not have to pay for it. While poor old guy if he wants publicity most times it will cost him...

"I don't live in Alaska and I'm not the mother to all these kids and I don't have other responsibilities that she has," he said.

What responsibilities does he have? He gets his butt whooped by 18% as an incumbent and still thinks he is presidential material? Idiot frothy mix he is.

Don't pull any punches on Palin, she deserves all you said. She picks and chooses her activities depending on the financial rewards attached, obviously turning over to someone else the care of her family. Palin's priorities are keeping her name in the news and making money. Trouble is some are still drooling over her persona and willing to shell out money to hear her cliches.

Santorum is a one-issue hack who makes Sarah Palin look absolutely presidential. The voters of Pennsylvania threw him out for his poor job performance. Let's..... make him the Republican nominee for president in 2012!!!!!

What's not to knock Palin for? She can't effectively communicate values with her children. She quits being governor because she can't hack it. She doesn't read much and is an ideologue instead; doesn't like those that think either from the sound of her words.

Isn't this the guy that took his wife and his very (sadly) dead newborn child to his in-laws and had pictures taken with various family members holding the baby? Does anyone else see this as extremely sick, or is it just me?

Pretty bad you have to be so scared of Palin's wrath that you're afraid to say anything against her, even though it's true. What a weany!!! We need people with guts to run for President of this country.

We all know that Palin and her PAC will be the king maker among the conservatives. Hence, Santorum joins the train of wannabes who kowtow to Palin.

Palin is smart enough to know that she is not electable but can milk her followers for money and influence the candidacy by steering that money and the people it represents toward one candidate or another.

"This article is garbage," Santorum tweeted
[Then the conversation seemed it got a little more heated]
"All I said was- she is VERY busy, PERIOD”
[But what I meant was – she’s NOT really SERIOUS]
"I have a feeling that she has some demands on her time…”
[And I hope it pushes her to the end of the LINE]
[A lot of demands may] “…have financial benefit attached to them.”
[Because the way she spends donations is really a SIN.]

"I don't live in Alaska and I'm not the mother
to all these kids and I don't have other
responsibilities that she has," that causes an interruption
[So I tweet]….”Reporter trying to create something out of nothing"

The candidates from the RIGHT who want to win the nomination to run for President know that they have to get the “PA’IN in the neck out of the way. One by one they will throw DARTS at her (meaning they will tell the truth and then back off) in an attempt to get her OUT of the forefront. She is stubborn – and on spite – she will go all the way and that is a Democrat’s DREAM!!! Run Sarah, Run. See Sarah run!

"business opportunities."........milking $ from the lemmings at "red meat" gatherings (aka NRA).
Palin's mothering responsibilities may have also kept her away from Washington this weekend.
"I don't live in Alaska and I'm not the mother to all these kids and I don't have other responsibilities that she has," he said....so who is taking care of them while she tours the country (and world) spouting her inane blather? The first dude?
