Palin calls potential rival 'Neanderthal'

Update: Santorum says he and Palin have spoken privately about the issue and are 'fine.'

(CNN) – Sarah Palin is mixing it up with potential rival Rick Santorum, suggesting the former Pennsylvania senator and presidential hopeful is a "knuckle-dragging Neanderthal."

The eyebrow-raising slap came in response to Santorum's recent comments that Palin was likely skipping an annual gathering of conservatives in Washington this weekend because of other "business opportunities" and her mothering responsibilities.

"I don't live in Alaska and I'm not the mother to all these kids and I don't have other responsibilities that she has," Santorum told conservative online radio host S.E. Cupp in comments that some commentators called sexist.

"Just because I'm a mom that does not mean that I didn't want to be there," Palin responded on Fox News Wednesday night. "I'm the proud mother of five…my kids don't hold me back from attending a conference."

"I will not call him the knuckle-dragging Neanderthal," Palin continued. "I'll let his wife call him that instead."

Santorum meanwhile maintains he never meant to insult Palin but was instead merely stating that she is a busy person.

"We've watched every episode of 'Sarah Palin's Alaska,'" Santorum said on Fox Wednesday. "We enjoy it. I know she has obligations to do other things outside of the work she does at Fox. I said I assume she has other things to do."

Both Santorum and Palin are contributors to Fox News.

Men in the conservastive party has lost their sacks and thus can not lead a country. Palin is a a joke and until these knee buckling spineless cowards stand up to her, they shame all the men that came before them. But thats the real problem in the republican party, there are no more men in the party, just sobbing, pathetic pansies. We all know and should hope that rick does not watch her tv series and if he claims he does, he is a liar. If these limp_____ can not stand up to this idiot than how can any of them deal with the threats this country faces from dicators around the world? She didn't go to the CPAC thing because she has no intention of really being part of the candiadate pool for 2012, yes she will do her half hearted attempt but like everything about this fool, she will only follow the $$$$. Rick grow some balls if you ever want to lead this great nation!

I can't believe I am agreeing with something Sarah Palin said! Santorum is just saying what all these Republican men are thinking (along with who they can cheat on their wives with). He is a pig and this should be a big clue that he is unfit to serve because he is TOO narrow minded to be the president of everyone.

Why is anything about Sarah Palin listed under "Politics"? She quit and does not hold any office. If anything – she should loosely be put under "Entertainment" and that is a stretch in itself.

Why are other Republicans intimidated by a mentally-challenged wingnut like Palin? I'd consider voting for a GOP candidate who took her on, but I haven't found one yet.

No one cares. Now ask what a Neanderthal is and when and how they lived. With her bible beliefs, Neanderthals should not even exist.

Now here we have an example of what things will look like if we keep electing them.
Their disagreements are never about the good of the country. Their spats about personal holiness and gain, since those are the tow highest Republican principles.

Man the GOP better come together fast or else 2012 is going to be ugly for them. One party, two messages. I think it's refreshing that some conservatives have the courage to vear from the party line, but it's not going to help them win any elections.

For Sarah Palin, everything is about her. She speaks from way out there in Lala Land. Additionally, she is so contentious. Just think if she became president...

Of course a Neanderthal would understand what a Vice President's job is and how the government works.

To Palin, everything becomes personal. The woman cannot take criticism very well. It sure looks like whoever disagrees with her, becomes her enemy for life. No wonder why not even McCain will support her bid to run for president. At least she knows she can rely on the support of white supremacists groups.

No doubt posted on her Facebook page or Tweeted. If this whole spat between two of the worst when comes to pandering to that base of the Republican Party wasn't so pathetic, it would be funny. Fact is, whenever one of these people open their mouth, they reinforce the notion that they are not fit to hold a national office.

Palin has ignored her kids for money before...so why not now. I'm kind of surprised she got a sentence out which had words of more than two syllables.
