Pawlenty: Obama appeasing Muslim Brotherhood

Washington (CNN) - Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, an all-but-declared candidate for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, accused the Obama administration Friday of "appeasing" the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt as the country navigates a path forward in the wake of President Hosni Mubarak's resignation.

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper described the Islamic umbrella group as "a largely secular organization" earlier this week, but later corrected the claim.

"Bullies respect strength, they don't respect weakness," Pawlenty said in a speech to the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington. "So when the United States of America projects its national security interests here and around the world, we need to do it with strength. We need to make sure that there is no equivocation, no uncertainty, no daylight between us and our allies around the world."

Pawlenty called it a simple principle that the White House "doesn't seem to understand."

"We undermine Israel, the U.K., Poland, Czech Republic, Colombia, amongst other of our friends," Pawlenty said. "Meanwhile, we appease Iran, Russia, and adversaries in the Middle East, including Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

"Mr. President, with bullies, might makes right. Strength makes them submit. We need to get tough on our enemies, not on our friends. And, Mr. President, stop apologizing for our country," Pawlenty said in one of his speech's biggest applause lines.

"The bullies, terrorists and tyrants of the world have lots to apologize for. America does not."

And the race to the 2012 GOP primary begins for Tim Pawlenty. Red meat comments like these may get him out of single digits in the polls.

Divisiveness is alive and well in the Republican party. Maybe the conservatives should take a lesson from the Egyptians and all try to get along for a common cause.

This shows that Gov. Tim Pawlenty does not know what the hell he is talking about. Is this the best the republicans has to offer. The GOP is in trouble.

Every time I see this piece of crap I think of what he did to our state. He is the most two faced, flip flopping, butt kissing candidate out there. Any body who even takes him serious deserves to be called a dope.

Nice to know the GOP sides with dictators and oppression as usual. Pawlenty is inventing his own facts.

People will say anything just to try to gain some political points. What does this idiot think...we can use War to rule the Middle E....throughout history this has FAILED.

Well, as a member of the Republican Party, Pawlenty understands what a bully is – because the GOP is full of them.

No ideas, no solutions, nothing that actually works or will help our country. Just a bunch of bully blowhards who don't know what the H they're talking about, and love to spread lies and fear.

Case in point: When was the last time Pawlenty was at a high-level security intelligence meeting?

Exactly: Pawlenty is a doofus, yet another Republican trolling for the fearful-and-stupid vote.

You know why Pawlenty and every other Republican wanne-be talks like this?

Because that's what GW Bush did – all bluster, no ideas, bullying people with accusations of being anti-American, anti-god, anti-family, etc., etc., etc.

Stand up to the REAL bullies here, folks! The Republicans have NOTHING to offer us – all their policies are PROVEN FAILURES!

Send them all packing in 2012!

  13. Really?

So, what action, specifically, has Obama taken to appease the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Sounds like blather meant to incite rather than inform .

Mr. Pawlenty, we aren't looking for another arm waving nincompoop in office. Try a more substative tack, assuming you know of one.

I remeber when the media would question assertions like this. Today, they just print them and call it news.

By the looks of Timmy Pawlenty, I'm sure he had his lunch money taken on more than one occasion. Why do you think he became a lawyer then a politician.

"Mr. President, with bullies, might makes right. Strength makes them submit." .....Makes them submit? OMG. This could have come right out of Mein Kempf...Why do white men think that it is their right, their entitlement to always tell others what to do or that others should just cowtow to them? What you are advocating Mr. Pawlenty, basically, is that we just be a bigger, more violent bully than the other guy...excuse me, but I would rather we didn't be a bully at all. Strength and bullying (insisting that people submit to our will) is not the same thing. You are a Christian aren't you? Then you should know better. Jesus is the perfect example. He didn't have to be belligerent to get his point across. In fact, he often, didn't speak a word. Its like Margaret Thatcher said, "If you have to tell someone that you're a lady (or that you are someone that should respected by making a lot of noise)...then you're not!" Sometimes silence (or at least what appears to be silence on the outside since you, Mr. Pawlenty, and the rest of us have NO CLUE what Mr. Obama is doing behind closed doors) is the best answer.

Does anyone understand what he said? Were we supposed to be supporting Mubarak in all this? And what appeasement is he talking about? And what about the "apologizing." When did he do that last, assuming ever? And we have to make sure that we are taking the same position as Poland, Columbia, et al? I wish these guys would just shut the hell up.

You are an idiot sir. How did that "Bullies don't respect..." thing work out in Korea? Iraq? Afgan.....This man is a fool and thank God we don't have a Bushie or a FOXIE replican (McCain/Palin) in the white house now.....We proably would already be in several other wars right now and been dropping nukes....God save us from these fools

we have seen for decades the pride of america which no one cares about. shove your strenght up your... this is a modern and educated generation who thinks and acts not like the old grand party GOP when is was formed there were very few educated men and women and they are the ones who bullied their own poor and uneducated americans. all they knew was steal from the poor down and become rich and that is what they are doing in this 21st century and think they will succeed. they dont like the Obamas because the obamas are making the american people think and reason out for themselves and that is what they are afraid of. they want to continue the power of the whip.

How foolish of Pawlenty to allow his ignorance of current events to take center stage . . . not at all Presidential of him. Rather petty actually. Will be the first to admit that Pawlenty never did have much class.
