Limbaugh takes aim at Michelle Obama's waistline

Washington (CNN) - Michelle Obama is taking heat from talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh after a report in the Vail Daily that she consumed a not-so-healthy-meal of ribs for dinner while on a recent visit to the Colorado resort, the latest example of conservative angst directed at the first lady's healthy-eating initiative.

"The problem is, and dare I say this, it doesn't look like Michelle Obama follows her own nutritionary, dietary advice," Limbaugh said Monday on his radio program. "And then we hear that she's out eating ribs at 1,500 calories a serving with 141 grams of fat per serving."

"She is a hypocrite," Limbaugh continued. "Leaders are supposed to be leaders. If we are supposed to go out and eat nothing, if we are supposed to eat roots, berries, and tree bark, show us how."

The Vail Daily reported Sunday Mrs. Obama dined at the restaurant Kelly Liken in Vail Village, ordering "a pickled pumpkin salad with arugula and a braised ancho-chile short rib with hominy wild mushrooms and sautéed kale." The first family, minus the president, went to Colorado for a long weekend of skiing.

"I'm trying to say that our first lady does not project the image of women that you might see on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue or of a woman Alex Rodriguez might date every six months or what have you," Limbaugh also said Monday.

Limbaugh's comments cap off a week of jabs directed at the first lady over her campaign to fight childhood obesity, taking flak from Rep. Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin, among others, for encouraging mothers to breast feed their children as a way to keep obesity levels down.

Mrs. Obama was also the subject of a controversial cartoon last week on conservative journalist Andrew Breitbart's website, in which an over-weight depiction of the first lady is shown telling her husband, "Shut up and pass the bacon!"

A website devoted to Mrs. Obama's anti-obesity effort lays out how the waistlines of American children have been growing at alarming rates over the last 30 years.

"The physical and emotional health of an entire generation and the economic health and security of our nation is at stake," Mrs. Obama is quoted as saying on the site.

You have got to be kidding. Why would you give credence to Rush Limbaugh commenting on ANYBODY'S waistline??? Healthy eating is a lifestyle choice and involves using moderation in food choices. There is no prohibition against eating ribs or cake or french fries for that matter. You simply cannot eat these items daily. Additionally, Michelle Obama is a woman in her late 40s who has had two children. Her "body image" reflects the beauty of a more mature woman than a Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue model (Alex Rodriguez? Really?). Finally, and most importantly, Michelle Obama's beauty is the prodcut of her intellect, the way that she carries herself, and her love of her family. Rush is an imbecile and a blow hard.

I feel really bad for Mrs. Obama, she doesn't deserve these types of attacks that she is getting from the Right.

"I'm trying to say that our first lady does not project the image of women that you might see on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue or of a woman Alex Rodriguez might date every six months or what have you," Limbaugh also said Monday.

This says it all about how Limbaugh views women as objects and if they don't match his fantasy, he thinks they're worthless.

Newsflash for you, Tubbo Limbaugh: The only reason ANY woman would take a second look at your ugliness (both inside AND out) is because you have money – and are willing to pay for a woman's company!

So...republicans are against healthy eating? Obesity is the republican way? I don't get it. Mrs. Obama is attractive and appears to be fit and healthy. She has never said you can't eat food...she has said moderation and understand what you are eating. Sensible advice. I am sick of conservatives bashing everything that is in anyway endorsed by the president or his wife. It has gone beyond ridiculous.

Oh for heaven's sake. I eat healthy most of the time but occasionally indulge in a big cheeseburger or dare I say (GASP!) a plate of ribs? Michelle is just saying to make healthy choices more of the time, and move your posterior off the couch once in a while. We don't have to eat tree bark. Rush, you are not the poster child for healthy choices, either, and I definitely do not want to see you on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Besides – "a pickled pumpkin salad with arugula and a braised ancho-chile short rib with hominy wild mushrooms and sautéed kale." sounds like it had a lot of veggies to me. I doubt that it's anywhere near 1500 calories.

Look who's talking. Show me a conservative who's not a hypocrite and I'll show you someone too ignorant to understand the issue.

There is nothing this fat slob will not do, especially jab at family members of the Democrats when he blasts comments about Republican family members....

Michelle Obama has said repeatedly that she believes in eating in moderation, which includes the occasional higher-fat food. Besides, she was on a ski vacation, probably burning up tons of calories (even if she wasn't skiing, a person's body burns more calories because of the high altitude).

Limbaugh is nothing but a big, fat idiot – emphasis on the fat. I can hardly wait until his dietary lifestyle catches up to him and puts him 6 feet under where he belongs.

Ha! As if Mr. Limbaugh is in any position to comment on anybody's waistline. He should trade his oxycontin and viagra for some slim-fast!

WHY are you giving any space or attention to a fat man complaining about a healthy woman's diet? It's a mathematical vortex where an obese drug addict calls a fit first lady a hypocrite...

She is a hypocrite," Limbaugh continued. "Leaders are supposed to be leaders. If we are supposed to go out and eat nothing, if we are supposed to eat roots, berries, and tree bark, show us how."
-------------------------------------------------– First of all you did not elect Mrs. Obama into office. She is our First Lady, period.
Secondly when she attempted to SHOW YOU the harm of certain foods being served in school to our children, and even at home your peanut gallery of idiots derided her.

I know good and full well that you know, Limpballs, that First Ladies should not be treated in this manner with such blatant disrespect. I know that you're doing it to get on the band wagon of grabbing headlines any way you can no matter how distastefully or how much you have to lie to obtain them. I know I shouldn't even be responding to this type of muck. Yet it doesn't make it any easier to take.

Your behaviour is reprehensible. You should be fully excoriated by someone of infuence in your Party, the problem is that that person does not exist. So it befalls people like me to read you the riot act you classless piece of putrifying turd.

Michelle Obama could kick Rush's butt in any kind of sport you can name. I eat ribs and fries once in awhile too but 80% of the time I eat non processed foods and cook everything from scratch, and according to Rush I am evil for promoting health foods, but according to the First Lady I am taking care of my health and being normal so who is the idiot here, obviously Rush. The good news is all the healthy benifits Michelle promotes will be much more appreciated then the Republicans making fools of themselves by throwing mud at the First lady. The Republicans hate campaign is so far in the gutter that they have to after the Presidents wife, and let them keep doing it as we smile at the complete backfire it will create in support for Republicans.Rush is Boehners boss so all the gutter dung they sling will simply create more support for the Dems.I guess when you have nothing good to offer and have no idea how to help the ecomomy you throw insults instead of offering hope, and trying to make the country a better and stronger place.Republicans will stoop to any level to ruin America any way they possibly can.

Pot calling the kettle black. Just because one tells everyone to eat healthy, does not preclude them from eating a portion of meat or something little bit indulging. The pill addicted, cigar smoking, fat slob like limbaugh should not complain about anyone else's diet habit. This is height of hypocrisy.

Wow! Sounds like she's a real hypocrite! She's almost as bad as a mouthy blow hard who says all drug users should be jailed then turns out to be a dope addict. In his defense though, I am sure he was high when he made these comments.
