Report: Ex-aide slams Palin in leaked book

(CNN) – An upcoming tell-all on Sarah Palin authored by a former top aide alleges the Republican firebrand despised her job as governor and broke campaign election laws in 2006.

According to the Anchorage Daily News, a 500-page manuscript authored by Frank Bailey was leaked to several Alaska media organizations over the weekend.

The book reportedly describes a Palin deeply exasperated with her political opponents and the heightened attacks she faced after being tapped to be the GOP vice presidential nominee in 2008.

"I hate this damn job," Bailey says Palin wrote in an e-mail to him shortly before her resignation in the summer of 2009.

The yet-to-be-published book was leaked to the media and widely circulated over the weekend. It also alleges Palin flagrantly violated campaign law when she closely collaborated with the Republican Governor's Association on a campaign ad in 2006. Because of the RGA's status as a 527 organization, the group can only support candidates independently and are barred from coordinating on strategy.

According to the Daily News, Bailey joined Palin's political team in 2006 and had been in her in her circle until her resignation as governor. He had previously declined all media requests regarding his perceptions of his former boss.

The book was also written by Jeanne Devon, a longtime critic of the former governor who publishes the anti-Palin blog Mudflats, and California author Ken Morris, who has written anti-Palin articles on his own website.

In a posting on Mudflats Friday, Devon writes she is "shock and horrified" that the book has been leaked to the media.

"The toothpaste is out of the tube as they say," she wrote. "So, now there's a little intrigue added to this story, which we certainly would not have chosen, and the consequences of which are yet to be known."

Morris also expressed similar outrage: "One thing I'd like to be very clear about is that the leak was not in any way approved, and the team will protect our rights in the material to the fullest extent of the law. We will seek all legal recourse available against those responsible and those that continue the unauthorized spread of the content," he said.

Pam Pryor, a spokesman for Palin's PAC, told the Anchorage Daily News she did not expect Palin would respond to "this kind of untruth."

Another Palin spokesperson has not responded to CNN's request for comment.

Well she is a repug, ain't she! They always say what the people want to bear butunderneith is deceit and deption, why is peoplealeays surprised about the antics of the republican party. Their one concept is world dominance, and they use the rich and powerful to create this, how does the middle class and poor fit in their plan. They only as propaganda tools. Then when they get what they want those fools are left out in the cold without a jacket, can we recall the holding America hostage to give the rich billions in tax cuts, or the election cries JOBS JOBS JOBS FIRST, That seems to magically disappear after the got what they want, didn't it.

The real crime is the failure of McCain to properly investigate Palin's qualifications and character.

Who cares? ANY type of book like this about ANY politician is probably not worth the ink used in it. If it was ONLY the Palin aide, then it might have some merit. But when you add someone labelled as "anti-Palin", you lose credibility. I'm no Palin, and can't stand the policies she espouse. But this book, like those that have been written about Obama, Bush, anybody outside of their inner circle has no credibility. And again I say, Who cares? No matter the reason, she QUIT on the state of Alaska. Gov Sanford didn't quit even after his scandal, Clinton didn't quit after his, Bush didn't quit amid his plumeting ratings. They all stuck it out. She didn't. Enough said.

Its a good thing this is getting out before she decides to run for the election in 2012, so more of the country hears how she lets hate and lies run out of her.

I think Palin's face should be on a three dollar bill. Yes she is that phony. Would a born again Christian use the kind of language that Palin uses such as damm in this article? Apparently Palin did not like the job of governor very well or she would not have quit. Oh I forgot she has made millions of dollars more than being Governor, it's always the money with this woman.

Remember if the law was not stated in the Constitution, it's unconstitutional.

If you say that often enough, simple folk believe it

Pam Pryor, a spokesman for Palin's PAC, told the Anchorage Daily News she did not expect Palin would respond to "this kind of untruth." Seriously? When does Palin NOT respond to things? I'd say when Palin doesn't respond it's because it IS true not the other way around. But hey if she can dish it out she should be prepared to take it... I guess it's fine to criticize someone who suggest breast feeding or eating healthy but if you quit your governor position or get accused of breaking the law it's hands off??

Surprise! People already know what and who she is, this book will do nothing to shape opinions of her. We knew she was snake when McCain picked her up.

Another book that's gone unnoticed is "Going Rouge, Sarah Palin, An American Nightmare", edited by Richard Kim & Betsy Reed. Palin has shown the world how NOT to be a working mother. She insults the rest of us.

This information is all the more reason Sarah Palin should never be looked as a viable candidate for the Presidency of the United States. Not exactly a job you can quit when you decide you "Hate it". The thing is, lots of us knew she wasn't a REAL option all along. She's attractive, in a mean girl kind of way, so lots of Republican men liked that about her. (i.e., Feisty, firebrand = Attractive mean girl.) But they also knew that she lacked the gravitas to lead this country.
I've notice that since her comments during the tragedy in Tucson, CNN has quit making her the lead story every day. I was wondering when you folks would WAKE UP. Looks like that may have finally happened.
All she was smart enough to do was make some big money while she could. I give her credit for that but that's all... Sarah Palin had the longest 15 minutes of fame in the history of the world. I'm sooooo glad it's finally coming to an end.

I know its tough for you to shop in common folk stores, just have your driver go into the commonfolk store and get you one? Just a normal American Flag pin is about 2 to 5 dollars? I,m a scrimper, just thought I,d save you some green backs. Sorry?

It will take more than a book by a former aide to convince anyone who is sitting on the fence about her. That being said, if more books like this come out, she will have a hard time keeping what is left of her base convinced she is the Messiah proclaimed by the Tea Party and other groups. It would be interesting to see if anyone in Wasilla has similar stories they are willing to put into print: personally, I'm curious as to how they could afford a full-time lobbyist in Washington when she was mayor.
