Mickey Rooney tells Senate panel he was a victim of elder abuse

Washington (CNN) – Grimacing with emotion, entertainment legend Mickey Rooney implored a Senate committee on Wednesday to stop what experts call chronic emotional, physical, sexual and financial abuse of elderly Americans by family members and other caregivers.

The 90-year-old Rooney told the Senate Special Committee on Aging that he was abused by a family member who took control of his life, and described feeling "scared, disappointed, yes, and angry."

"You can't believe that it's happening to you," Rooney said. "You feel overwhelmed."

Maybe Micxkey should look at his lif and how he treated people.
From what I understand he was not exactly a gentleman. He treated people like dirt.

This problem is more rampid than alot of people might think. I wish they would pass a good strong law to lockup these losers who take advantage of the elderly. My half brother cleaned out my poor aunt before any of us found out what was going on, she had organic brain disease. All he got was 3 years probation for stealing her life savings. He should have recieved at least 10 years for what he did, instead of a slap on the wrist. Thank you Mr. Rooney for taking time to testify before the senate panel.

My grandmother was also abused she was 87 when her daughter had her sign a quick claim deed on her property and then sold it. She told my grandmother that her property was not worth anything and never gave her anything. But in fact my aunt got over A hundred thousand dollars. When the rest of the family found out the statue of limitations was out by 6 months. My lovely dear grandmother is now almost penniless and living with my mother and my aunt got away with it such a shame.
