Trump hits back, slams Sen. Lamar Alexander

(CNN) - Donald Trump said Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander should “stop trying to get free publicity on the back of Donald Trump” on Monday, a day after the Tennessee senator told CNN that Trump has "absolutely no chance of winning" a presidential race.

“Sen. Lamar Alexander, who I do not know and have heard very little about over the years, perhaps because of a certain ineffectiveness, has recently stolen my line, word for word, about [Texas Rep.] Ron Paul, by stating that ‘Donald Trump has absolutely no chance of winning’ in a Presidential contest,” Trump said in a statement.

Alexander was discussing the pool of potential 2012 presidential contenders on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday when he told CNN’s Candy Crowley that there's “always someone like Donald Trump who has absolutely no chance of winning,” and that Trump is “famous for being famous."

The real estate tycoon and television star has repeatedly said he is seriously considering a run for president, but for now is focusing on the latest season of his hit show, “Celebrity Apprentice.” Trump told CNN last week that that he will not make a decision about a bid for the White House until June.

In a Newsweek/Daily Beast poll release last month, Trump was just two percentage points behind President Obama in a hypothetical head-to-head ballot, 43 to 41, and well within the poll’s sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percent.

Shortly after the poll's release, the potential candidate boasted of the positive numbers, saying in a YouTube video that they came as no surprise because his is a “message of common sense.” In his response to Alexander, Trump likewise predicted that he would fair well in the senator’s home state.

“As a Republican, I will not be looking for his support but think that, if I run, I will do very well in the state of Tennessee,” Trump said.

“The great people of Tennessee, like me, do not like being taken advantage of by the rest of the world, whether it’s China, South Korea, India, Pakistan, (who take our aid but won’t deliver Osama bin Laden), the OPEC nations who are destroying our country with their pricing of oil, or many others," Trump said.

Donald can help me out by making the slots looser at his casinos and discontinuing the tradition of constantly changing dealers on the blackjack tables.

No Trump. You don't have to slam back anytime you are slammed. You don't want to appear like Palin. Too combative. How about responded this way " I respect Alexander Lamar's right to doubt my ability to run or lead, but I am the only one who knows what I am most capable of doing". "Alex is entitled to his own opinion".

DONALD TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT would be exactly what this country needs. We already have your snub nosed millionaires and billionairs on the hill, what's one more? However, Mr. Trump has the intelligience, intergrity and guts to put this country back where it belongs.

His recent comments "the world has lost respect for the United States of America" is an understatement. We depend on foreign oil for what? To go to and from a job most americans hate because they haven't had a pay raise in years, or the fact our gas is currently sitting at almost $4.00 per gallon and your only going to be able to drive to and from that job you hate.

I am experiencing the worst of worst being an average blue collar worker for 44 years and have been unemployed for 2 years and I'm STILL looking for a job. I believe he will hold a strong force in bringing jobs back to the USA.

I'm all for DONALD TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT.

I like Donald Trump, but being wealthy does not qualify one to be president. Indeed, Trump would have a very slim chance of even winning the nomination much less the presidency.

Personally, I would like to see a President that would fight hard for America on the world economic court. I would like to see tariffs on imports to balance the trade between our country and others.

Trump with his usual foolish, shallow and simplistic view of things, his usual take on other countries, people etc, cheating us blah blah blah...... is myopic, garning for the presidency demands you come up with succint and cogent analysis, not this shallow populist celeberity way of looking @ things.
Governance, global finance, diplomacy, interactions etc are more delicate and nuanced, than this shallow Trump is making it seem.Be careful folks especially for those who are drooling all over this moron.

Another example of Trump's out of control ego. The guy is way too dangerous to be seriously considered for a job giving him control of nuclear weapons.

This should be sooooo entertaining. Can't wait until someone asks him why he was a republican first, then a dem and now a repub again. That will be the least of his troubles though.

Donald Trump and Sen. Lamar Alexander GOP party have something in common. BANKRUPTCY
    1. GOP bankrupted the USA with the greatest financial disaster since the great depression of 1939. Thanks to Big Business Congressmen / senators, Big Banks, Investment firms, financial speculators all made huge profits. Goldman Sachs alone past out huge record bonsues and made $ 23 billion off A.I.G. on pass thru monies and derative bets them made that AIG would fail. All the Insider Trading between banks, investment firms racked up billions of insider profits.

Donald, Donald, Don't you get tired of your own publicity stunts. Why don't you just use your millions and have someone write a new one. You have about as much chance of being USA President as walking through hell with gasoline drawers on.

I don't think Alexander has had a casino go belly up and that will sure be used to show Donald's lack of skills running a business let alone a government!

Being from TN I can say that Lamar is the scum of the Earth. Of course he has junior scum with him in DC as well. I just don't understand how this guy gets elected. I'd vote for Trump anyday.

Lamar Alexander is a great example of what kind of politcians the nice, but dumb, people of Tennessee elect. An inbred retard! He couldn't find his butt with both hands and a road map.

Donald Trump is not a politician, and should not be allowed to buy his way into the presidential race. If he is too busy with his dumb reality show, he is just talking and creating attention for himself, which = more money....for him. Exactly what he is accusing this man of doing. Maybe Trump and Sarah (STUMP) should partner up and pimp each other out~
