Ames, Iowa (CNN) - Likely Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty waded into international waters Tuesday with sharp criticism of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi.
"We got a situation, we got a confirmed terrorist, sociopathic killer Moammar Gadhafi, mowing down his own people who are trying to bring forward their view of liberty and freedom," Pawlenty told reporters following remarks to the Iowa State University College Republicans in Ames.
The former Minnesota governor said a no-fly zone over the volatile country would be a "good thing for the United States to do," as some leading senators have suggested.
Pawlenty, who appeared Monday night alongside four other potential 2012 GOP presidential candidates at a forum sponsored by the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition, said he would make a decision about formally entering the presidential race in a "few weeks or less."
Pawlenty sure knows a lot about Sociopaths.
I suppose I agree with him on this one.
Yet more pandering from Pawlenty. A No-Fly-Zone would require us to take out air defenses, meaning the bombing of Lybia and killing civilians. What could possibly go wrong there? That would be three Muslim countries the US is bombing and killing people. And people wonder why we are hated in the Middle East.
Thanks! I needed that!
I read the title to this artice about what the GOPer said and I thought to myself "Yeah, I agree Bohner is like that!" . But now to my disssapointment he was really talking about Gadhafi -– Bummer deal!
A "no-fly" zone in Lybia would mean the U.S. must bomb airfields, take out the Lybian air forces either on the ground or in the air and destroy Lybia's anti aircraft capability. All this will cost MONEY that we don't have. More American lives wasted on some jerk-water country so Exxon-Mobile can increase their profits. By all means let's cut subsidies to the elderly for heating oil and reduce the number of school lunces for poor children to pay for this obsenity.
He thinks a no fly zone is a good idea, despite the fact that our top military commanders don't think so, don't think it will work, and no one has any idea of how to pay for it. Is he willing to levy a tax on the filthy rich to pay for the 500 million a day it will cost to implement his "policy?"
oh yeah, how easy is to speak about other countries problems like if we own them. if you want to do something about it, do it yourself and with your own money not my tax dollars. at the same time you want to cut goverment spending??? what an idiot !!!!!!!!!
We got a situation, we got a confirmed terrorist, sociopathic killer Moammar Gadhafi, mowing down his own people who are trying to bring forward their view of liberty and freedom
Sounds a lot Bush!!!!!
But he is the president. And sometimes the only way to solve big problems is to throw caution to the wind. No matter which way it's blowing.
Some journalist wrote this. I could not believe it.
When the fate of an entire nation hangs in the balance throwing caution to the wind is NOT what I would advise. As a matter of fact, we've BEEN THERE and DONE THAT with the Shrub and his fake-a$$ bravado, and look at the world of turmoil and internationa hate that garnered us.
So, thanks, but no thanks.
Little Timmy here though, on the other hand, seems to subscribe to the theme of pissing people off just because....he can.
Real presidential there Timmy.
How many American military people are you willing to let die to get this clown? These fools learned nothing from Iraq. Before you vote repulican, you better make sure YOUR kids are registered for the next draft.
We have terrorists mowing down doctors who perform abortions right here in America! Where was his concern then?
Pawlenty is pretty much a buffoon.
Somalia, the Congo, NKorea, Iran, etc., etc., etc.
Obama is doing good in ensuring international coordination in any response so the US doesn't again have police the world and pick up the bill while groups like the European Union, China and Russia sit back and watch us spend our money.
we need some one to nail gadhafi ... he has kill more people than hussian....
The only thing Tim knows about war is when the Wisconsin Badger hockey team comes over to Minnesota for a " Border Battle" with the Gophers.
By the way, a little off topic but.......Pawlenty was for cap and trade, before he was against it.
Whose gonna pay for these interventions? These no fly zones and the like? America alone huh? The international community must step up with a concerted effort period.....
The President is doing the right thing. patiently waiting, and considering options.
It takes one to know one, Timmy. You destroyed our beloved state economically and now you want to do the same to the country as a whole. Thank God you are out of St. Paul. I will do everything I can to make sure you don't land in Washington.
