(CNN) - Actress Julianne Moore will portray former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in a new film about the 2008 presidential election, HBO announced Wednesday.
Moore, a four-time Oscar nominee, has been tapped to play the folksy former vice presidential candidate in an HBO Films adaptation of "Game Change," journalists Mark Halperin and John Heilemann's 2010 best-selling book detailing the inner workings of the historic 2008 campaign.
HBO said its film will focus on McCain's losing campaign, including his last-minute pick of the then-little known governor of Alaska as his running mate.
Time Warner is the parent company of CNN and HBO.

BORING – Defiinitely will NOT watch. What Hollywood idiot thinks anyone would waste their time or money to watch anything related to Palin?
No way ANYONE should play that unless it's Tina Fey
The book was excellent – it will be interesting to see how Sarah Palin is portrayed in the movie – it was not a very favorable picture of her in the book – and what kind of reaction there will be by Sarah Palin, when the movie comes out.
OOOOOH! I would have gone with Tina Fey. On SNL it was hard to pick which one was the real SP.
why more money for sister sara........keep filling her pockets America
Won't go see it.. Wont rent it..
Might watch it when it is shown on tv.. This woman is irritating and infuriating..Why pay to feel that way?
And besides..If she has anything to do with the film, it won't depict her honestly... She won't allow it.. So what's the point?
I'm taking bets this movie will lose a ton of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Who's palying McCain? Steve Martin?
i feel bad hearing that someone as attractive and talented and funny as julianne moore is going to play a brainless divisive peddler like sarah p.
seriously – who cares. Come on CNN -stop with the stupid, tabloid news – be a real news station and stop with this kind of silliness
Historic 2008 campaign? HA. The only thing historic about her campaign is the fact that the Republican Party chose perhapes the most unqualified VP candidate in history. The Obama's are without a doubt more deserving of a film rather than Palin. Count me out, I am not interested.
"Julianne Moore is too fine an actress to play a silly"
That is why they are given a golden statuette.
glad I don't get HBO. Even if I did, I would never watch this farse.
They could have saved a ton of $$money$$ by just renting one of those mannequins from the Old Navy commercials and have it play the part of Palin.
Well, that's going to be a FLOP because we all LIVED IT and would rather not see the RE-RUN!!! Now if you get Danzel or Jamie Foxx to play President Obama – then it would be worth looking at – I mean, he is the WINNER of the 2008 saga!!
If the directors would pony up some swag for her entourage, I'm guessing Sarah would take the role herself.
Hey, what happened to Tina Fey? Julianne needs to get dumb and moronic for the role.
I see many people had the same idea about Tina Fey. But that would be way over the top and too humorous. I think they went for drama on this selection.
Why are they making a movie about this moron? Everyone knows why Mccain lost, its because of Palin. The only thing this movie will do is fuel the hatred and motivate the crazies ont the right, to protest and claim that the media is picking on little Sarah Palin.
Sarah Palin and What the Frox news is just gonna use this to make Palin look like a victinm.
Is this going to be an HBO tv special or a major motion picture?
How will Julianne Moore prepare for the role? By slamming her head into a wall for the next month?
At least there will be something on... another channel. Saw this train wreak already.
I can imagine a scene in the movie where, just after it becomes clear to Palin that McCain is going to lose the election, and the first hints begin to trickle in to her that it may have had a lot to do with her selection as running mate, she goes on a mad screaming fit, knocking everything off a dresser, overturning tables, screaming at any staff and family members within earshot, slamming doors, throwing things, firing subordinates left and right, and collapsing into Todd's arms, sobbing hysterically.
That would be an awesome scene, and I'd be willing to bet not too far removed form what actually happened
**YAWN** I'll pass. Who would want to see a rerun of a train wreck?
Just as I wouldn't read Sarah's ghost-written book, I wouldn't go to see this movie if I had free tickets along with a bucket of popcorn and a gallon of soda ...... what a phony.
