Obama makes light of birthplace rumors

(CNN) – President Obama joked about the ongoing "birther" debate surrounding his birthplace at a Democratic fundraiser in Boston Tuesday night.

"I think there's nothing – there's no weakness in us trying to reach out and seeing if we can find common ground. Now, there are going to be times where we can't," Obama said about reaching across the aisle. "I was born in Hawaii, what can I say? I mean, I just… I can't change those facts."

Obama was in fact born in Hawaii, but it has been a topic of conversation since the 2008 election. On Monday the Supreme Court again rejected an appeal from a "birther" proponent questioning the citizenship of the president. At least 10 states have introduced bills requiring presidential candidates to provide proof they are natural-born citizens.

The whole thing is based on the un belief that America would vote for him (the right's stance), once it happened, then it must be that he is false from the get go, therefore his whole being as president isn't valid. When you start from a false fact, then everything else after that must be false. That being said, remember the next day after the results and school aged children were chanting, "assassinate Obama"......I'll bet a small chunck of the population forgot that. Since his innaguration, every trick of discredation has been used, in order to keep a voting base and not have to offer solutions because your only campaign platform for the past 30 years has been lower taxes, morality, and abortion, all the while, repaying campaign contributions in the form of low to nil corporate tax, allowing the outsourcing of jobs, deregulating basic consumer/tax payer protections, and dismantling our country one kick back at a time.

Why can't they rely on the Federal Elections Board to vet the candidates? This is getting out of hand and should not have ever been an issue. Did this come up with McCain? No! Did we require Bush, Reagan, Clinton, or Carter to prove this? No! Why now? What's next DNA testing for your heritage?

Plain and simple they are ______ [fill in the blank with what ever irational description you want]. Get over it and stop crying.

Hmmmmm the Birthers are at it again. The latest stats show that 41% of Republicans think that Obama was born elsewhere than the USA. I had no idea that 41% of my Party (I am a registered Republican) were are as nieve and racist as they appear to be. A sad group for sure.

Inmyopinion – You must have wasted a whole month to come up with your very educated nonsense.
So what if part of his childhood was spent in a foreign country? Do you know how many AMERICAN citizens, not necessarily Army or Navy 'brats', share the same upbringing?
How do you know, for starters, that Hawaii had not 'strict laws' (and what do you mean with that fella?) back at the time of the POTUS' birth? (Which could explain, in your pathetic opinion, how she could have faked his birth proclaims on those two papers, right?)
And the whole 'polite' way for you to expose how and why she would have gone to Kenya (only a few months after the mau mau Uprising officialy ended) while pregnant of the POTUS... that was the most educated way that somebody called somebody else (whom he or she never ever met in person) a liar that I ever heard of!

Iinmyopinion Opinions are like you know what ? You didn't do to well in American History I take it...If I recall correctly Pearl Harbor Naval Station is what was bombed by the Japanese DEC. 7TH 1941 that lead the U.S. in World War 2...and Hawaii had been a American Territory for many years prior to that so your references several times to Hawaii "back then" didn't keep good records or Hawaii "back then" hadn't been a State to long so anything documented there is suspect is just plain shameful.
You really need to get a life and stop with the B#$%$%IT the only ones who you make connect with are like minded people who aren't going to VOTE anyway and if they do ..it wouldn't be for President Obama anyway....

Some people just don't get it !!!!!. Which is obvious from some of the posts. The people that don't understand resort to name calling and stereo typing. The point is a process doesn't exist to properly and thoroughly verify a Presidential or a Vice Presidential canidate is qualified under the constitution and there is no way to challenge in court because citizens don't have standing. Does anyone want to risk a Constitutional crisis based on the word of a fraud or a liar intending on doing harm to the US. This has never been a serious issue until Obama came along. Obama is obviously hiding something since all Presidents in the past have for the most part voluntarily disclosed school records, military service records, pasport records etc; .Obama and his taxpayer funded lawyers have spent by most estimates $ 2M to keep these records from the public.
Research it before shooting off your mouth!

To INMYOPINION above – that's all you got??? In your opinion??? President Obama's mother was never in the Peace Corps, Hawaii was a US territory for almost 60 years before it became a state, so people in Hawaii probably had a fairly good idea of US laws by the time statehood was awarded, and why do you assume that Anna Dunham would of course have gone to Kenya when she was pregnant? Is that because you clearly know so much about Kenya, Dr. Dunham, her relationship with Obama's father, etc...not to mention the total lack of proof you offered up for any of this garbage you've posted here??? Really – in my opnion you're a total idiot.

I want all to look at these facts, in 2008 67% of eligible voters actually voted and Obama and Democrats won, in 2010, 37% of actual voters voted and Republicans won (the infamous shellacking). Now, in 2012 when the usual 67% actually vote, and with the current crop of GOP candidates, America who do you honestly believe will win (please look at this logically and not emotionally)......you guessed it, the Kenyan, muslim, socialist, communist, n word, sambo, obummie, oblamo, obumbo, whomever you choose to call him. And, without having to care about being re-elected, he can push all of the policies that he wouldn't be able to. The GOP will loose as they know they will, but they will have fat pockets from all the suckers who gave them money. The reason the GOP isn't posturing to get the open seats in the senate and congress is because they want the money, and nothing else. Megan McCain will be the strongest candidate in 2016 and will have to compete with Gavin Newsome of San Franciso. Any takers on this bet?
