Boehner: Obama causing energy costs to rise

Washington (CNN) - House Speaker John Boehner said Thursday that the Obama administration is exacerbating rising energy costs and adding an extra financial burden to struggling American families and small businesses.

"The Obama administration has consistently blocked American energy production that would lower costs and create jobs in our country," Boehner said at a press conference announcing a House GOP initiative to push for more domestic energy production.

Bad weather grounds Romney but doesn't prevent big endorsement

(CNN) – Bad weather prevented Mitt Romney from making it to Tallahassee, Florida Thursday, but it didn't prevent him from scoring an important endorsement.

Spokesman: Giffords plans to attend husband's shuttle launch in April

(CNN) – U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords plans to attend the launch of the space shuttle Endeavour next month - a little more than three months after she was shot in the head outside a Tucson, Arizona, supermarket - her spokesman said.

Giffords' husband, Capt. Mark Kelly, will command the shuttle. After spending the days after the shooting at his wife's hospital bedside, he decided in February that would continue his assignment as the mission commander. At the time, Giffords' spokesman C.J. Karamargin said the Arizona Democrat "fully understands" that her husband is flying the shuttle and supports his decision.

Daniels explains call for social truce

(CNN) – In a new web video released Thursday potential 2012 Republican presidential candidate Mitch Daniels called his suggestion that potential Republican candidates declare a truce on social issues in the next election "a tactical suggestion."

In an interview with "Uncommon Knowledge," a webcast in conjunction with the Hoover Institute at Stanford University, the Indiana governor said avoiding moral issues during the primaries would prevent the party from alienating voters: "all I was really saying was I don't want to lose one person."
