(CNN) - Sarah Palin's favorability rating among Republicans continues to slide as the former vice presidential nominee mulls a White House bid, according to a new survey.
A Washington Post/ABC News poll released Wednesday indicates 58 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents give Palin high marks, a 30-point drop from her favorability rating among the same group in the weeks leading up to the 2008 presidential election. It also marks a 12-point drop from a Washington Post/ABC News poll last fall when the former Alaska governor traveled the country on behalf of a string of congressional candidates.
In what could be another ominous sign, Palin's unfavorable rating is at 37 percent in the new survey, an all time high in Washington Post/ABC News polling and a number that far surpasses that of other potential presidential candidates including Newt Gingrich (26 percent), Mitt Romney (21 percent), and Mike Huckabee (18 percent).
The former Alaska governor has said she has made no decision about a potential run for the White House and will mount a campaign if she sees a path to victory. But Palin has engaged in few behind-the-scenes maneuvers, traveled to virtually none of the key early-voting states, and has skipped high-profile conservative forums that some other potential 2012 candidates lined up to attend.
Meanwhile, a recent survey of likely Iowa caucus-goers suggested Palin's support is slipping in that key state as well: A Des Moines Register poll three weeks ago found the former Republican vice presidential nominee's favorables had slipped 6 points in the last year and a half, a number that may indicate the excitement around the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee is beginning to dissipate as other likely presidential candidates have spent significantly more time there.
This Washington Post/ABC News poll was conducted March 10-13 and interviewed 414 Republicans and Republican-leaners by telephone. It carries a sampling error is five percentage points.

I would like to think that the American public is finally wising up to Caribou Barbie and her evil ways, hence the drop..
of course it maybe these goofy pictures of her CNN keeps digging up to post with articles on her.. keep up the good work there boys, loonies should be portrayed as loonies I say
Emperor has nothing at all on!" said a little child.
"Listen to the voice of innocence!" exclaimed his father; and what the child had said was whispered from one to another.
"But he has nothing at all on!" at last cried out all the people. The Emperor was vexed, for he knew that the people were right; but he thought the procession must go on now! And the lords of the bedchamber took greater pains than ever, to appear holding up a train, although, in reality, there was no train to hold.
Finally, people are starting to come to their senses. It's still amazing though how many Republicans still think that she is qualified. I think Vanna White would probably be a better leader. I'm sure that she is more intelligent.
I guess it's up to Michelle Bachman to become the leader the wack-jobs now
CNN...it doesn't get more lame than the kind of blatantly biased reporting you do on Sarah Palin. I have no particular allegiance to her or the Republican party (registered independent), but it is unreal how this supposedly legitimate media company goes out of its way to post regular headlines about anything negative regarding her support levels. It's pathetic, you're obsessed. It's your version of stalking, which is about as much of a turnoff as possible. And not only to you seem to seek factoids that give you an excuse to say she is not as unbelievably popular as she might once have been (although still ridiculously popular) but you add the journalistically reprehensible element of judging the facts as 'bad' (these numbers could be right on target as far as her plan is concerned, for all you know). Incredibly unprofessional. We don't need mainstream media to tell us how to think about the news. So STOP.
So she fades into the sunset with millions of $$$$$$ from " flavor of the month " fans . Not as dumb as she appeared to be .
Sarah Palin NEVER intended to run to President; and while she is most certainly an uninformed half-wit, she is not really a conservative either. Sarah has done a masterful job of playing the right-wing and the left-wing to make MILLIONS of dollars. She left the governor's office for one reason....to get rich. She is now financially set for life. She will just fade away and enjoy her money. We've all been had. Ladies and gentlemen, you've been played!
Can't you hear it already: "I never wanted to run; I never said I was running. You just can't trust what those crazy liberal media folks say." UGH. I've had ENOUGH of the red gnat!
Wait, so she had an 88% favorable rating? I have never seen it that high, even among the most extreme in the Republican party. She was never that high among most mainstream Republicans which is what scares them. They can't afford someone so polorizing and only popular among a small fraction. They need someone (as do Democrats) who appeals to the base and as many moderates as possible.
High marks? For what? Looking good in a dress?
I'll bet she doesn't really care. She knows she is a target of the left wing media and will be crucified if she runs. She will milk this for all she can and get even richer. She is just teasing the left wing haters.
Awww, c'mon people keep supporting her. Build her back up for and nominate her for the presidential run.....pretty please!?
It's about time the rest of the word opened their eyes!
The fact that she has any support at all brings the credibilty of the Republican party into question. How ridiculously stupid and unqualified is a candidate allowed to get before they won't support them just because of their religion?
The more she talks or communicates in any form actually, the more supporters she loses. Of course I'm hoping that she runs against Obama, but it's not going to happen unfortunately. There is a chance that she can be goaded into running and there are several ways she could end up the Republican nominee. That would be really good.
I don't think she was or will ever be a serious contender for POTUS. She's just inflammatory and served well to stir up the Republican base. Now that has been achieved there's no need for her anymore, as the GOP leadership is now all too gladly showing.
Aaaawwwwww, did Republicans find a new fad to obsess about????
GOOD RIDDANCE........... It is about time the American people saw Ms. Palin for what she is, now let's work on Bachmann. Gingrich is another who's past indescretions are a true mark of his moral standing.......... he is brillant and should be used from a back room only, maybe a cabinet member, but no president......... I don't want him speaking for me......... the trouble here is I am a Republican and have yet to see any of the cream rise to the top......... I am still hopefull
Gee thats a shock. She was great for them when they needed her big mouth but now they fear her because she is an idiot and they knew it from the beginning. I bet Sean Hannitys wife is happy!
CNN has written so many stories about polls showing that Sarah Palin's popularity is plummeting as to be ridiculous. If one added all the negative poll numbers together, Palin should be at the top of the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List. Looks to me as if CNN's credibility is lower than MSNBC's and approaching that of Fox News.
Maybe this idiot finally is getting the message!
Awwww......does this mean she wont make as much money?
If she were bright enough to know she WASN'T bright enough to hold the office, we wouldn't hear any more from her. But she's not smart enough to know that. I truly believe that she thinks she is qualified to lead our country. After how many colleges (and quitting the Governor;s job), why not make a perfect run by NOT running. Time to let the serious people play and get rid of the fluff. As another more famous Barbara said, she really ought to go back to Alaska and stay there.
perhaps America is finally waking up to what many in the center and left have said all along. All Sarah Palin really is happens to be the "pitbull" that can keep the low end of GOP right wing base fired up by attacking EVERYTHING President Obama and the Democrats try to do...no credit for the positive things they have done, and now she'll even go after the first lady. The right wingers and FoxNewsers LOVE this and she's protected because she only talks to FoxNews, conservative media and uses FB and Twitter that way she doesn't have to answer real media questions. But the people are seeing she would NOT make a good leader less known a POTUS. With all the bucks she's raked in though I doubt if Palin really cares. For her sake I just hope she invested her money wisely.
Well my,my? Sarah spends two years "Spewing Screechy non-sense(all worded by speech writers)making millions of dollars from "dumb people" gatherings, making us all wonder"Who in the -–is this? All to get even at the media for exposing her "Intellectual" status? What a price common sense people had and has to pay!! Keep it up Sarah, that way we may dodge another Republican Economic Crisis scenario,"The Trickel Down Effect"????? I,m sure you will have lots of fun, spending those millions. Bad poll numbers, but try not to cry, when driving to the bank.
