(CNN) - He is set to be portrayed by a four-time Oscar nominee, but Arizona Sen. John McCain says he has no intention of watching Ed Harris' upcoming interpretation of him.
"He's a very fine actor and a great actor," McCain said during an appearance on Fox News Sunday. "I obviously haven't read the book, so I don't think I'll be watching the film."
HBO revealed last week Harris would star as the former presidential candidate in the cable network's adaptation of "Game Change" – the bestselling 2009 book by journalists John Heilemann and Mark Halperin that provided an inside look into the 2008 presidential campaign.
The movie will focus on the book's largely-negative portrayal of the McCain campaign, especially the reportedly hasty decision to pick then-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as the vice presidential nominee.
"I've been made very aware about its depiction of me, and it is what it is," McCain added.
In addition to Harris, actress Julianne Moore will play the role of Sarah Palin and Woody Harelson will depict McCain's campaign manager, Steve Schmidt.

The Palin camp is already working on refudiating the movie.

Myself if I were McCain, I would not watch it either. It is always painful to revisit and ponder major mistakes one did and of which can never be changed. McCain picking his VP will never vanish in his thoughts and the rest of us!

I'm sure McCain wishes picking Palin was just a bad nightmare that he wants to forget and the movie is just a reminder that it's not a nightmare. Never in history do I recall a former VP nominee talk negative about the presidential running mate as Palin has about John McCain, but then again Palin always proves her pure ignorance.

It will be quite a challenge for Harris (very handsome) to portray this souless egomaniac. Same for Julianne Moore.
McCain is a class act, always has been. From his refusing to leave the prison camp when his father's position in the military could have afforded him special treatment, to town halls where he he did not give the easy answer, and explained why something unpopular was necessary, to his bipartisan work, to passing on the opportunity to criticize any aspect of this re-creation. Every country could use dozens more men like John McCain in politics at all levels.
I wont be watching it as well. DOnt trust Hollywood when it comes to conservitives. People will take it in as the truth and that is such a shame.
I hope Woody has been practicing his slow burn. It is a rare talent for comedians to possess anymore and one he will need for this role.
