Bachmann nabs top Huckabee aide in Iowa

Washington (CNN) - One of the strategists who engineered Mike Huckabee's victory in the 2008 Iowa caucuses is going to work for another Republican, one more indicator that the former Arkansas governor isn't eying a repeat presidential bid in 2012.

Huckabee's Iowa political director in 2008, Wes Enos, has signed on as a consultant with Michele Bachmann's political action committee as the Minnesota congresswoman and Tea Party hero mulls a bid for the Republican presidential nomination. An adviser to Bachmann confirmed the hire.

Bachmann plans to open a presidential exploratory committee in the coming months and is assembling campaign teams in the early nominating states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Enos becomes the second former Huckabee adviser to switch teams: Eric Woolson, who helmed Huckabee's Iowa operation in 2008, plans to advise former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty's likely presidential bid.

Despite doing next-to-nothing to build a 2012 campaign operation, Huckabee still maintains a loyal network of grassroots supporters in those pivotal early states. Over the weekend, he won a presidential straw poll in a key South Carolina county. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich finished second, followed by Bachmann.

The GOP has imploded! I can't imagine any sane person supporting this wingnut. Sometimes I feel like our country has taken a giant "we're stupid" pill!

I hope she runs then maybe she will have to quit the House. No body from MN but those from his district approve of her. She ignores them, she doesn't do anything for them, she runs around the country pell mell seeking publicity and they still vote for her. Guess all the nuts live in the sixth district of MN>

Anybody who backs up Bachmann has to be viewed as unwise, considering she's an obvious lunatic.

Wowee! Big Deal! Who cares? This clown of a candidate isn't going to win squat, no matter WHO she has working for her.

I certainly would like Bachmann to run for President. She is an insightful lunatic who will bring out the best in the woodwork.

I wonder how long it will take this guy to realize he has hooked his wagon to a shooting star that has no means of steering and is being driven by a cast member from the Looney Tunes?

How about a Gingrich/Bachmann ticket? One with a brain and no morality, the other with morality and no brain.
    Perfect together!

Bring her on! What a waste of money this candidate would be. Doesn't the Republican Party have someone with some brains that can run for the most important job in this world.

I would vote for Palin before I would vote for Bachmann. The GOP is going to have the crazy and the crazier candidates.

I can't figure out whether she is so delusional that she thinks she has a chance of winning or so cynical that she thinks it will be a good way to part some fools from their money.

Michele Bachmann is probably the only GOP politician who I think is more pitiful than Sarah Palin - who opened another Pandora's box to let her out.

I know Michele "When we (immigrants) got to America, we were all treated the same" - right, what rock did you just crawl out from under.

Hopefully she will run, and also Sarah. Nothing will hurt the cause of the mostly male, selfish, short sighted and clueless Tea Party more.

I hope she wins the nomination. An automatic win for Obama. Amazing that the GOP can't come up with any viable (normal) candidates. But maybe it is not so surprising considering their have no ideas or solutions on every issue just a continuous string of attacks on Obama.

Michelle Bachman is the ideal Conservative candidate. She is both crazy AND evil, so Conservatives don't have to choose one or the other.

Bachmann, the former tax attorney and business owner, would be a great president. She is one of the few pols who has the guts to make the tough cuts that are necessary to get our economy back on track. President EmptySuit and his merry minions talk about making cuts but are opposed to every spending cut that is brought up. Everybody with a functioning brain realizes that Obama has been a total disaster.
