Gitmo commission move the latest in a long line of Obama shifts

Washington (CNN) - Those who have followed President Obama's stance on which court is appropriate to try accused terrorists can be forgiven for getting a severe case of whiplash.

After all, it was candidate Obama in 2008 who made clear he intended to close the Guantanamo Bay detention facility within a year of his presidency and put an end to military commissions there – the proceedings that extend only limited trial rights to accused terrorists. Then, it was President Obama who quickly signed an order calling for Guanatanomo's close while his Justice Department soon vowed that, in the interest of justice, Khalid Sheik Mohammed and other alleged 9/11 terrorists will be tried in civilian courts.

Romney signs on to key New Hampshire forum

Washington (CNN) - Mitt Romney has signed on to appear at a conservative forum in New Hampshire later this month, the latest sign the former Massachusetts governor is inches away from launching a second bid for the White House.

The forum, sponsored by the New Hampshire state chapter of Americans for Prosperity Foundation, will focus on spending and job creation as well as honor Ovide Lamontagne - the 2010 GOP Senate candidate who, with significant Tea Party support, nearly beat establishment-backed candidate Kelly Ayotte in the Republican primary.

Bachmann nabs top Huckabee aide in Iowa

Washington (CNN) - One of the strategists who engineered Mike Huckabee's victory in the 2008 Iowa caucuses is going to work for another Republican, one more indicator that the former Arkansas governor isn't eying a repeat presidential bid in 2012.

Huckabee's Iowa political director in 2008, Wes Enos, has signed on as a consultant with Michele Bachmann's political action committee as the Minnesota congresswoman and Tea Party hero mulls a bid for the Republican presidential nomination. An adviser to Bachmann confirmed the hire.
