Beck ending show on Fox

(CNN) - Fox News Channel anchor Glenn Beck will end his daily show later this year to develop and produce a variety of television projects to air on the channel, according to a release Wednesday.

The new agreement between FNC and Mercury Radio Arts will ensure Beck appears on the television network and through other "digital properties."

"Glenn Beck is a powerful communicator, a creative entrepreneur and a true success by anybody's standards. I look forward to continuing to work with him," Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said in a statement.

"Glenn Beck" launched in 2009. The host previously hosted a show on CNN's sister network HLN.

Howard Kurtz, Washington bureau chief for The Daily Beast and host of CNN's "Reliable Sources" said the split was a "divorce many months in the making."

"By the end, both sides wanted out," Kurtz said in an email. "Beck's show proved too radioactive for Fox, and the network became an uncomfortable home for Glenn Beck."

This smells like a punishment to me. Didn't he criticize Donald Trump just the other day?

It's OK. We don't need him. Tell him to take his time. Set down and take a load off. Tell him to set a spell. He doesn't need to sit very long. The Super Glue is fast acting. Once he sits, he is down.

It would seem that the criticisms of Beck, Limbaugh etc., and the American People's turn away from GOP's distasteful behanior and rhethoric is causing some distancing between these bombastic and divissive people and the Republican Party. It seeems the mainline GOPer's see it as a liability to have them out front.

This doesn't mean they will go away but rather seek to obfuscate the connections and the nasty, selfish tones these ego-manics spew.

I am forced to ask myself, "Why?"

The answer is simple. Murdoch would not remove such a powerful propaganda machine from the air waves unless he could replace it with something even more powerful. The article suggests that Beck will be producing programming, and even appearing in other shows. Ciizen's United makes it legal for Fox News to produces political infomercials. That is my bet as to which direction Beck is headed.

Good it's about time, next they should pull the plug on the entire Fox "News" – where facts do matter – network. Don't let the door hit you in the behind on your way out Glenn. See what happens when you invent your facts and call Reform Jews "terrorists". Karma is catching up to the fruitloops.

Glenn Beck is a self-promoting nutcase that isn't worth the electricity used to show his program. I won't miss him.

Too bad he's not a journalist, of any variety. I guess Fox wants over-the-top actors on their TV news shows. This man is a clown!

Have never listened to him; can't say I ever will. From what I have heard the man is a master self promoter but a real nutcase. He is probably a very smart individual. Too bad he let the inflammatory rhetoric become the mainstay of his program.

Let me guess. Beck is going to produce Lie to Me. Perfect show for him.

He got a little too werid. Even for Fox's standards.

This guy is a nut. The problem is, a lot of nuts out there believe him.
I will miss laughing at him and at his blackboard. He was entertaining, goofy and stupid.

I hate to see this guy go. He represents the ugliness of politics so well. I hope he finds employment somewhere so we can all point to him and tell our kids, "See this guy? He's who you don't want to be."
