(CNN) – A friend of President Barack Obama was arrested Monday for allegedly soliciting sex from an undercover officer posing as a prostitute, according to CNN affiliate Hawaii News Now.
Robert Richard Titcomb, 49, was arrested with three other men Monday night and released later that evening after posting $500 bail. He is scheduled to appear at the Honolulu District Court May 2.
The Honolulu Department of Public Safety confirmed Titcomb's arrest to CNN Wednesday. The Honolulu Police Department confirmed an arrest with matching information but would not disclose the name of the individual.
According to Hawaii News Now, Titcomb and the president have been close friends since high school. The two are frequently seen golfing and dining together when the Obama family visits Hawaii.
Most recently the Obama family spent time with the Titcombs on a trip to Hawaii in late December 2010 and early January 2011. White House pool reports at the time noted Titcomb by name on multiple dates during the trip. According to CNN records, President Obama golfed with Titcomb on December 23, December 26, December 28 and January 2. The first family was joined by the Titcomb family on Christmas Day and spent most of December 30 at the Titcomb residence eating, playing volleyball and enjoying time on the beach. The first couple also had dinner with the Titcomb on December 29.
Titcomb had no comment when reached by Hawaii News Now.

What a waste of man hours and resources. prostitution should be legalized and taxed. its the oldest profession in the world. who cares. wwhether you get married and have sex or have a girlfriend you pay for it one way or another. get a life people and get over it!
So a friend of the President gets arrested for something completly separate from either Obama, the Office of the Presidency, or the government, and it is on the political page. Why is this story not on the legal page where the rest of the crime related stories are put?
Lemme guess, someone is going to try to link Obama to this crime.

so what. this is none of our business. everyone makes mistakes. lets worry about the important things going on in the world and not this guys personal life. this in no way should reflect on the obamas. we all have friends that screw up. lets stop focusing on nonsense.

So why is this news? Was Obama directly involved? If not this is just one of hundreds of guys that get busted every day trying to help women earn a living. Let's find some real news stories to put on here. CNN is rapidly becoming a reality site instead of a news site.

Shame on you all! We'll do our best to track all of YOUR friends, relatives and associates. The very first time any of them (think about it; there must be hundreds!) run afoul of the delicate sensibilities of your readers, we'll blast it all over the media world, with prominent mention of your name. I think you three, at least, should immediately begin considering careers in the tabloids of Fleet Street. No worries, though. The weather in London isn't great but the pay may well be better.
