What's driving the debt debate?

Washington (CNN) – From the White House to Congress, lawmakers are hashing it out on how to solve the nation's massive debt crisis - and the negotiations, shall we say, are less than pretty.

President Obama is set to lay out his deficit reduction plan Wednesday night, which is expected to call for rolling back the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy, among other things.

What's driving it, or what's sticking it up? "Trickle Down Economics"

Curiously enough, even Democrats believe in it, although they will swear on their graves they don't. Conservatives believe trickle down should begin exclusively in the private sector. Liberals believe that it should start at the goverment, and THEN into the private sector but with wider disperstion.

So why can't they figure out they are on the same page? Greed. People are more interested in profit than benefit.

the White House and congressional Democrats, who say it protects the wealthy while putting the burden of spending cuts and other reforms on the middle class and poor.

This is a total cop-out by the Democrats. This really is their way of making increasing taxes and continuing out of control spending more palatable than actually spending within the already rediculously high tax revenues they already get. The Democrats are not watching out for the middle class, the unemployed or the future of the country. They are trying to avoid having to deal responsibly with the huge and growing debt that is going to destroy America's future.

Remember when teachers, public employees, Planned Parenthood, and NPR crashed the stock market, wiped out half of our 401Ks, took trillions in TARP money, spilled oil in the Gulf of Mexico, gave themselves billions in bonuses, and paid no taxes? Yeah, me either.

President Obama Is the smartest man ever. If the people just lesson to him this country will get back in shape.
If you lesson to the Republicans so many people would be lost and broke in this country.

I keep hearing people say lets get back to the tax rates that clinton had. I would completely agree with that, on the condition that spending went back to the same amount as well.
