WASHINGTON (CNN) – Prodded by growing public frustration over sharply rising gasoline prices, the Justice Department on Thursday announced the formation of a team - the "Oil and Gas Price Fraud Working Group - tasked with the goal of ensuring consumers are not victims of price gouging.
Gas prices exceeding $4 per gallon or higher are "tough" for most Americans, President Barack Obama told an audience in Reno, Nevada. "We are going to make sure that no one is taking advantage of American consumers for their own short-term gain."
get use to it...since china and india got in the game ...cheap gas is a thing of the past... we need to change to natural gas... more jobs ,,, for americans... and watch and see ..cuba will be drilling in the gulf before you know it....we better wake up quick...
Attorney General Eric Holder made no secret the move is a direct response to public angst, not to current evidence of any illegal conduct.
Not to worry. It's just Obama playing his favorite game again. Politics.
Lets see... gas prices are increasing... oil companies reporting record profits... hmmm..
Will Justice look at the governments involvement in not allowing drilling and the corruption of goverment workers from EPA and Interior working for their own special interest.
OMG, the President just noticed the price of gas is going up...And you expect Holder to get anything done on behalf of ALL Americans? Too bad this issue doesn't affect just "his people" or he'd already be all over this issue!
How are we going to stop the repugs from defending their big greedy oil friends, every time some one tries to criticize these gigantic oil giants from beating up on the American people, here comes the repugs deflecting blame to obama. These big oil companies will never change their disgusting ways, because they have the repugs in their back pocket. They will just keep on dragging the American people, and call upon the repugs any time any one give them a little flack,'the repugs
are always on time to deflect criticism, and blame Obama.
It's call greed
The gas and oil companies have been ripping off the consumer for decades and nothing will be done about it. They simply have too much political influence for the government to care about how it effects the little guy,
Did Justice Department just realize that consumers might be being gouged? Whoa ! Now they are earning their money!
The energy industry? What about the speculators on Wall Street? Anyone else notice that whenever we're getting gouged out here on Main Street, Wall Street is raking it in? I think we need stricter regulations before they are able to take us down again before we've even gotten up.
