Huckabee blasts Glenn Beck

(CNN)- Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has a bone to pick with Glenn Beck. The current Fox News host isn't pleased that Beck, a departing Fox News host, has called him a progressive, a term which Beck has also previously likened to cancer and the Nazi movement.

Beck also compared Huckabee to Arizona GOP Sen. John McCain on his radio show Tuesday, labeling both as progressives, because of Huckabee's vocal support for Michelle Obama's anti-obesity initiatives.

"I think Mike Huckabee is the one, if you are somebody who understands progressives are on both sides of the aisle, I think Mike Huckabee is John McCain," he said.

But Huckabee, who's name has been floated as a possible contender for the GOP presidential nomination, took to his PAC blog Thursday to blast Beck in response, saying, "This week Glenn Beck has taken to his radio show to attack me as a progressive, which he has said is the same as a 'cancer' and a 'Nazi.' What did I do that apparently caused him to link me to a fatal disease and a form of government that murdered millions of innocent Jews?"

Beck delivered the keynote address at the 2010 Conservative Political Action Conference, where he called progressivism the "cancer in America" that is "eating our constitution." And, though he's repeatedly used Nazism as a metaphor for the progressive movement, the conservative radio host balks at the accusation that he's compared progressives to Nazis in the past. In January he said, "I haven't compared progressives to Nazis, I have compared their tactics and what they do, and shown that it's the same kind of movement."

Either way, Huckabee is crying foul at his inclusion with Beck's blistering metaphors for progressivism.

"He seems to fancy himself a prophet of sorts for his linking so many people and events together to describe a massive global conspiracy for pretty much everything," he wrote.

"His ridiculous claim that John McCain and I collaborated and conspired in the 2008 campaign is especially laughable…Beck needs to stick to conspiracies that can't be so easily de-bunked by facts."

And Huckabee wasn't through. "Why Beck has decided to aim his overloaded guns on me is beyond me," he continued.

"He ought to clean his gun and point it more carefully lest it blow up in his face like it did this time."

Huckabee is way off-base. Beck a progressive? More like regressive and repressive. He's as progressive as loony Palin and special ed Bachmann.

How few brain cells does one have to have remaining, to even be able to stand listening to the incoherent yammering that comes out of Beck's mouth for more than five minutes?

Little spats like this just lower any respect I would theoretically have for either person. Not that I care much for Huckabee, but if he's INSULTED by something BECK wields as an insult,... need I say more?

Huckabee doesn't have a problem with Beck calling Progressives "cancer"–just doesn't want himself to be called that. How does that poem go? When they came for the Jews, I did nothing....

Huckabee is the best choice for president in 2012. He is the only candidate who is able to reach across the aisle and get Democratic votes while maintaining his conservative philosophy. Integrity goes a long way in this world and people of both parties respect it greatly. Huck IS the man for 2012 and by the way, Beck's show is going off the air while Huck's is still going strong!

Back has a bizarre and dangerous fascination with Nazi's. Just look at all of his books, costumes, chalk drawings, and words. Is he really afraid of the left becoming like Nazis, or is he really jealous OF the Nazis and wish he could be one himself (and in that, do to others as they did to the Jews)?

I would love to see Huckabee debate Beck... Beck would get demolished. I don't know if Huckabee would be the best Republican candidate for president, but if he is chosen, I would support him.

  15. The Greedy Old Pigs like to wallow in mud!

Huckabee lives in a glass house. I'm not defending Beck any stretch; he's a moronic know-nothing who is a (dry?) drunk and possibly mentally ill. However, Huckabee himself was recently spreading untrue garbage about President Obama's childhood. The GOBPbaggers have been pretty much reduced to nasty little pigs wallowing in the filth they create.

This isn't anything new you all shouldn't already know about Huckabee. Look at Huckabee 's taking points.Progressive to say the least. Glenn is right on this. Huckabee is a opportunist seeking power and money and BIG Government like most of the rest of the Democrats. He should actually switch parties he is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Politics, the representatives and the critics, would be totally laughable if it just wasn't so serious. It would really be nice if we could just get these people out of it, just be able to so totally ignore them that they would 'die on the vine' and fall away. Oh well, I guess the antics can be amusing as long as people aren't swayed by the subterfuge and the bazaar acting out.

Most of the idiots posting on this board don't even know what a "Progressive" is. It's an ultra-left liberal. When liberal became a bad label to have, they changed their name to fool people. Now they are "progressive" which implies something positive to people who don't know any better. But their political philosophy is right (or left) around Castro or Chavez and some approach Lenin.

Wake up and educate yourself America. Progressives want you to progress towards the nanny state or worse, state controlled everything. After all, you are all just too damn dumb to think and do for yourselves. Won't it be much easier if you just let them take all your money, make all your decisions and take care of you like 2 years olds?

The conservatives have to stick with all the juvenile name calling, etc. If they told us what they really wanted to do to America, they'd all be voted out in a heartbeat.

As a constitutional conservative/liberal, all I can say is: the bus apparently is big enough to hold all of the people the left and the right are willing to throw people under. (Sorry about ending my sentence with a preposition.)
