Fact check: Trump's voting record

NEW YORK (CNN) - Donald Trump's affirmation that he's voted in every general election disagrees with actual voting records, according to a spokeswoman with the New York City Board of Elections.

“I voted in every general election,” Trump told CNN affiliate NY1 by phone Friday. “I have records that I voted and so does the Board of Elections. … I signed in at every election.”

However, voting records obtained by the board of elections show that Trump did not vote in the 2002 general election, according to Valerie L. Vazquez, director of communications at the board.

The records also show that Trump skipped at least three presidential primaries and two mayoral primaries over the past 25 years, Vazquez said Friday.

Vazquez has found voting records by Trump for only two party primaries – the 1989 GOP mayoral primary and last year’s GOP primary for several statewide races, including governor and U.S. Senate.

Vazquez said she was able to obtain the voting records using both Trump’s voting bus cards, used prior to 1992 to document a voter’s activity, as well as through the BOE's electronic records database, used from 1992 to the present. Both the bus cards and electronic records provide the ballot time and whether it was cast on site or by absentee vote. Records also showed Trump has changed his party registration three times over the past 20 years.

Vazquez was confident that her records are complete, saying there is not a loophole that would hide a possible vote.

But when asked by NY1 Friday about the discrepancy presented by information from the election board and his claim, Trump said, "You're going to pay a big price because you're wrong."

A call to Trump for comment was not immediately returned.

CNN's Susan Candiotti contributed to this report.

This man is absolutely unable to distinguish the truth from a lie. His ego is so swollen that he thinks anything he says ( . . . Obama wasn't born in US, I'm serious about running for president . . .) is true.

So Donald Trump is a liar. What else is new? What is he registered as today? Hmm, let's see, a Dem is in office so that means the Donald is a Repub. At least until a Repub gets back in office then he'll suddenly realize he's a Dem. Grifter.

It's only the beginng. I want him to run just so he goes through the vetting process. No one has ever reached the level he has in real estate without some shady dealings.
His lies right lies and misinformation will just be bonus reading.
Kepp talking Trump- There are people listening who will expose you.

This guy just continues to tell lies. Really, what does he think he will obtain by doing this ?
Oh yes, I forgot, the respect of all the idiots out there who think that he would make a great president.

OMG! He missed one presidential election. That is not a big deal. What is really of interest is that he has flip-flopped parties three times. BTW: in which party is he registered now? He lies like a rug, makes his money by welching on debts, has no clue about what to do about China, Iraq, Libya etc., and he is a bald headed narcissist. Who is going to vote for him?

His if that is all he missed, he is better than nearly 50% of the people in the country that don't vote. A nothing story as usual by CNN.

And people really want him for president? Hes a gimmick that will fade. Unfortunately running the country like a business will only serve the people on top (The ceos) and those on the bottom (Work force) will be screwed. There may be issues with those we have in there right now, but trump would make it worse.

That makes perfect sense coming from him. A lot of hot air and no substance. He is unworthy and irritating. If given a chance he could be a perfect dictator: narcissistic, greedy and idiotic.

In other news Trump says to Vasquez "You're Fired". But seriously why do I care, If that is all he has missed, he's doing better than most Americans.

Foxfan, it might help you to know that this mess that finally prompted you to vote in 2008 started about 2002. Since your boy McCain didn't even recognize there was a financial crisis going on, and Palin would have quit to make some real money, I'm not sure who from the Fox Analyst Reporter Team (FART) would be able to step in.

" You're going to pay a big price for this because you're wrong." This guy just threatened New York State official
didn't he? Of course, Trump is not a liar, because everybody else is, the list is growing. Obama is a liar, the State of
Hawaii lies, those who have actually seen the birth certificate are liars, now the State of New York lies. Why?
Because Trump says so, and you know he is a pillar of virtue.

So here is a question, say you did something like Trump says he did and records say otherwise, and say you can prove your case now as to what does that say for the records. It's like most people always believe one side, much like a jury covicting a person for a crime only later to find out through DNA that person did not commit the crime. My point, don't always rush to conclusion, carefully check the evidence as to both sides.

For all of you calling this "democrat propoganda" by CNN –

RELAX. Its a NEWS story, and CNN isn't the only one to report on it. It is the job of the press to fill in the public on potentially important issues – like when a candidate has LIED, etc. If they hadn't reported on it, THAT would be bias since they would be purposefully not revealing information that people may find important (especially given Donald Trump's firm Birther position – you would expect him to not lie himself).

So no, this isn't "democrat / liberal media propaganda". If it were false and CNN had been the only one to report on it, maybe you'd have a SMALL point. Even then they could have just been factually off-base. But, at present, they are reporting something other media outlets have and seem to have evidence to support their claim.

    Fact check: Trump's voting record
    By: CNN's Nina Golgowski

Surely CNN's Nina Golgowski knows the difference between a Primary and a general election? I would hope so if she were writing a "fact check" "article" about them. This is a horribly researched propaganda attempt by CNN. If trump has never missed a general election then he didn't lie. The guy is crazy but this "article" is bullpooey.
