U.S. forces kill elusive terror figure Osama bin Laden in Pakistan

(CNN) - DNA matching is under way on samples from the body of slain terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden, a U.S. government official told CNN on Monday.

There are photographs of the body with a gunshot wound to the side of the head that shows an individual who is not unrecognizable as bin Laden, the official said.

I hope Obama presses Pakistan as to why he was living in a mansion outside the capital in Pakistan. This is great news for America and hopefully will embolden our troops who continue to fight and keep us safe. Obviously, terrorism is not over, with, bu the so called figure head has been killed and I think Democrats and Republicans should come together and applaud our troops for finally getting him. As a Republican, I will be happy to congratulate Obama on this as well. Let's keep being diligent, because it may fan some flames for future attacks.

Funny this seems like a good time to tell us this news. To get our mindes off the shape that our country is in? Sounds like as when we landed on the moon... what was going on in this country then? Did we land on the moon? How long has Osama been dead? Does the everday American ever know what the truth is? I think he has been dead for years!!!

Thank goodness! Now we all have to remain vigilant as the President said, we don't know what is coming down the path in the next year. This is not over yet, we can't pull our troops home immediately, and we can't assume with Osama Bin Laden that Al Qaeda is no longer a threat. But this is a great feather in the President's cap. Bravo!

This what you get when you have an intelligent and deliberative President as opposed to one that "listens to his gut" and "fries from the hip and ask questions later" of cowboy "diplomacy".

This is a sad day for some, but a celebration for many others. The monster is dead! Thats what im hearing and reading all over illinois right now. As a god fearing woman all i can say is now binladen is standing before almighty GOD and he will finally half to give an account for the things hes done. Not to mention the thousands of GODS creation that hes killed. I wouldnt want to be in his place right now. And now with this i say in a small way america can finally take a breath. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

The Death of Bin Laden is a Victory for the US but it doesnt bring an end to this war. Continue to remember and pray for our military still over there.

Osama is dead in some mansion in Pakistan. We in the US have been looking for him for 10 years come September. This is all a ploy.

I watched, as I always do and believe Andrea Mitchell on CBS, She is the reporter whom I trust to report the truth about what is happening. She said and I quote "he hasn't been running things for a while anyway".

So he's in a mansion, he's old, he's sick, how do we know what condition he's in. He hasn't been running things for a while. So who is?

I think he's been dead for months, or on life support systems, in some mansion in Pakistan.

So the El Quida, gave him up. They have so much more to gain from the re-election of Obama, then anyone.

Re-elect Obama in 2012. Obama's recent polls show it's the lowest since he was elected. Who has more to gain tham Obama from this death?

As a US citizen who is 63. Out of work. Because of re-structuring. Struggling to not have my home foreclosed. Selling my gold jewelery, buying tables at flea markets to make whatever I can to put food on the table. Having to give away my children to others so they can eat. What does this death mean to me?

    Nothing more than more misery.

Re-elect Obama and then what? More unemployment. More assistance for banks. More assistance for lobbyist. More assistance for those who have........and less for those who have not!

God Bless Obama. It took him and his intelligence team 2 years to do what Bush, Cheney couldn't do in 8 years. Started a job to get Bin Laden after 9/11, lied about WMD and got rid of someone that wasn't the issue with 9/11. I wonder now how Faux News and all the Republicans are going to spin this one.
