(CNN) - President Barack Obama said Friday his meeting with the commandos who executed the mission against Osama bin Laden's compound was a chance to say "job well done."
"They're America's quiet professionals," Obama said. "They could have chosen a life of ease. But... they volunteered (and) chose to serve."
"They practiced tirelessly for this mission, and when I gave the order they were ready," he said.
President Obama told troops at Fort Campbell, Kentucky,that "we are ultimately going to defeat al Qaeda. We have cut off their head."
"Even before this week," al Qaeda's leaders "were under more pressure than at any time since 9/11," he said.
"Our strategy is working and there is no greater evidence of that than justice finally being delivered to Osama bin Laden," he said.

Great speech...President Obama took great political risks that could have jeopardized his career...but had confidence in our special forces to get the job done. I am especially proud The President took the time to meet with the poor NYC firefighters that lost entire battalions at WTC. Also the President is a class-act to go down to the troops and shake everyone's hand face to face...and have lunch with the NYC Fire Dept off camera. I am proud to have voted for The President and will do so again.
